Kings Playoff Standings Watch!!!

Not to get ahead of the moment but I really want to win the first round with this talk of teams thinking were going to be an easy win.

We're in 3rd place for a GD reason, and it's because we are good.
We don't collapse in the 3rd anymore, in fact owning the 2nd half of games is our calling cards.
We don't have the same locker room nd coaching, we have direction and leadership, we can adjust.
We have actual NBA talent and not guys that will be gone from the league as soon as they leave.

Today I want the Suns to beat the Wolves, the Grizzlies beat Clippers and the Kings to win of course. Still seven games to go and a lot can happen, but this would help set up a first round meeting with the Clippers.

I personally would much rather play the Warriors in the first round. Not only would they be great games to watch but the Mike Brown and Vivek relation to the Warriors can be put to rest quickly. Especially when we win the series.

Your a far braver fan than me.
Looking at the current standings and games left i would think there’s 4-5 teams we could possibly face in the in the 1st round. I want to make it to at least the second round and think the Clips are our best chance of making that happen.
After that bring on whoever.

I refuse to try to handpick our matchup. I am worried about star whistles harming us. If we got to play a small market team I think that's best for us - unfortunately MN is the most likely smaller market and their lineup gave us fits this year. In an evenly officiated series I'd take us against any of the CA teams right now but unfortunately I don't trust that to happen.

Anyways, all the teams gunning for 6 are doing so to avoid the play in. Don't hear about 4/5 seeds trying to play down to 6, do you?

Same, or I'd be content as to face the Warriors or the Lakers first stop.

I don't think anybody believes that the Kings will be an easy opponent. Just that it's their choice of matchup, instead of Denver, Memphis, and Phoenix
Denver and Memphis are also regularly being disrespected, the big difference there is you gotta play the play-in and probably beat the Lakers and one other team to qualify. Let's see what happens the final game of the season if anyone suggests the 5 seed lose to get us.

Our long regional nightmare is over!

Today's games (5):
LAC def. MEM
SAC def. Blazers --> and nothing else really mattered
PHX def. MIN

Playoff Seeding (Bold games are next day):
-----Kings' Range-----
1) DEN (51-24) 12, NOP, @PHX, GSW, @HOU, @PHX, @UTA, SAC -- TB=Kings
2) MEM (48-28) 8, LAC, @Chi, POR, @NOP, @MIL, @OKC -- TB=Kings
3) SAC (46-30) --, @POR, SAS, @NOP, @DAL, GSW, @DEN
4) PHX (41-35) 2, DEN, @OKC, SAS, DEN, @LAL, LAC TB=Suns
-----Kings' Range-----

-----Other Teams-----
5) LAC (41-36), @MEM, @NOP, LAL, POR, @PHX
6) GSW (40-37), SAS, @DEN, OKC, @SAC, @POR --> Current Kings' opponent if standings hold

7) MIN (39-38), LAL, POR, @BRK, @SAS, NOP
8) LAL (38-38), @MIN, @HOU, @UTA, @LAC, PHX, UTA
9) NOP (38-38), @DEN, LAC, SAC, MEM, NYK, @MIN
10) OKC (38-39), @IND, PHX, @GSW, @UTA, MEM

11) DAL (37-40), @MIA, @ATL, SAC, CHI, SAS
12) UTA (36-40), @BOS, @BRK, LAL, OKC, DEN, @LAL

A light schedule on Thursday with only the Pelicans at the Nuggets, with most of the NBA apparently deferring to MLB opening day. I've got no particular thoughts on the Pelicans, but Denver's Magic number against the Kings is 2, so if we want to hold onto the fool's hope of being the #1 seed in the West we need them to lose! On the bright side, we have "won" the tiebreaker with Denver in the sense that if we win the Denver game, we win the tiebreaker, and if we lose the Denver game, we can't be tied with Denver. Probably not going to matter in the end.

MIN at PHX - Will update eventually

Playoff Seeding:
1) DEN (51-24) 13, 7 games remaining, TB 1-1, 1 to play (winner gets TB)
2) MEM (48-28) 9, 6 games remaining, TB goes to Kings if they win the Pacific Division, otherwise goes to Memphis
3) SAC (46-30) --, 6 games remaining
4) PHX (40-35) 2, 7 games remaining, TB goes to team with better division win%

Golden State Warriors ELIMINATED
Los Angeles Clippers ELIMINATED
Minnesota Timberwolves ELIMINATED

Starting tomorrow I'll begin monitoring playoff seeds, but tonight let's just soak it in.

Tomorrow's games (5):
Who cares?
Thank you for the great work with the updates

Our chance at the 2 seed isn't over. Grizz do not have an easy schedule and face a number of teams that will be vying for the play-in/play-offs outright. Plus, when we face the Nuggets, they may be shutting down their starters Pop style. If we go 5-1 the rest of the way or even win out, Grizz can easily go 3-3 or 4-2. Remember, we own the tie breaker.

I think, technically, any tie with Memphis goes to the Kings. Since Memphis has 48 wins, the worst possible record we can have in a tie with Memphis is 48-34. In contrast, Phoenix already has 35 losses, so their best possible record is 47-35. So there is no possibility where we can tie Memphis and lose the pacific. So in reality, we own all relevant tiebreakers with Memphis.

And Mike Browns ability to make adjustments along with this staff + the willingness to try a guy like Alex Len out when we need it and the way our guys bounce back after tough losses, that really bodes well for postseason basketball. Yes, we have holes, but we absolutely can win a first round series and i really feel we will.

Analysis on a potential Warriors-Kings matchup and why "everyone wants to play Sacramento Kings". Don't know why, but I want Warrions (with healthy Andrew Wiggins) in first round :p

It's hilarious to me that JJ Redick, who famously lambasted the Kings for trading Tyrese Haliburton, is now one of their most ardent defenders, and truly believes that they will pose a far tougher matchup for their first round opponent than many may be expecting. Kudos to JJ for bringing a bit of realness to a network that doesn't really pivot much from their east-coast-bias-plus-Lebron point of view.

He’s a walking talking joke and his comment deserves no further attention unless it’s for laughter. He’s really going to mention the Kings, in a game they won, and this being a team that hasn’t sniffed playoffs in ages? And he doesn’t even mention the Lakers who have shot like 200 more free throws than the next closest team (which is us)!! 200! It’s like getting 2 games worth of offense as an added bonus. What an advantage.
