Kings Playoff Standings Watch!!!

Given how closely packed the teams are it’s hard to make the case it’s a weaker team.

the only reason to consider it would be to get a home court advantage in the 2nd Round. But the team is a bit worn down and some could use a rest. Both Fox and Sabonis come to mind. We don’t need to be playing 5 games in 8 days right before the play-off. Maybe if Memphis lost tonight and we were 1 behind in the loss column. But they finish with pretty easy teams other than the Bucks. Not only that let the Warriors play against our bench while we game plan for them.
We will have a whole week off before the playoffs start for us because of the play in games. Rest will not be an issue for the team. Just have to avoid an injury.

I'm thinking it's more and more likely we're facing Golden State.

Which I've changed my mind and I think that's preferable to the Clippers now. The Clippers are thought would falter without Paul George and they just haven't. They're finally clicking and they'll be a tough out.

So now it just comes down to GS vs NO vs MIN.

They're a battle tested team team with championship experience, but on the other hand, I think this is a better matchup than either MIN or NO or LAC considering they're lacking lengthy wings and guard defenders.
Wiggins coming back would change my mind on this but im with you for now

Memphis is bad on the road and 4 of 5 for them are on the road. I have Memphis finishing up 2-3 and the Kings 4-1 and we will grab the 2nd seed from Memphis. I don't think we will catch Denver. I see them finishing 3-2 or 2-3. Either way we finish 1 or 2 games back.
No clue except the Kings are likely to clinch the 3rd seed vs Spurs. The Mavs will be playing for their play-in lives likely when they play the Kings, and Pelicans close to same...so I would be surprised if the Kings go 4-1. How the Kings do against Mavs and Pels will dictate lineups vs Warriors and Nuggets. If they lose 1 or both vs Pels/Warriors, I think you'll see them rest their players the last 2.

Here's hoping! Moving up from the 3 seed to the 2 seed might mean we face the Lakers in the first round instead of the Clippers or Warriors but it would also mean that we would have home-court advantage if we do advance to the second round -- where Memphis' losing record on the road could bite them again. I'm not really fixated on matchups per se but it does some pretty clear that the Lakers want to face us and there's a chance they'd have both Lebron and AD healthy for at least one playoff series. They're always going to be dangerous until one of those guys inevitably gets injured again.

Kings Playoff Tracker

The Suns are on absolute life support in terms of chasing the #3 slot after our win tonight, so it's probably just as well that they defeated the Nuggets and gave us just a little bit more light at chasing the #1 seed. Not gonna happen, we'll be the #3 seed barring some extremely unlikely and extended luck, but it's nice to hold on to the dream a bit longer.

Fairly light slate tomorrow, with the Clippers facing off against the Pelicans and the Mavericks looking to make their way into the play-in discussion, just like Kyrie envisioned.

hey Capt not sure how to interpret Denver and Memphis. Can you post the number of games for them to eliminate Us? Might be easier to follow.

Lakers are long and GoldenState is not. I would much rather face the Warriors.

not a full week and the team will be using that time to prep. The time to get some rest is at the end of the season. I don’t take Fox or Sabonis on that road trip. Might leave a few other dudes at home too.

Nuggets up 4 games with 5 left.....their magic number combination is 2: 2 wins or 2 Kings losses or a combination of 1 win and 1 Kings loss equaling 2 events.
Grizzlies up 2 games with 5 left,...,,their magic number combination 4: 4 wins or 4 Kings losses or any combination of Grizz wins/Kings losses. equaling 4. events

They play their last game on the 9th, their first playoff game will be the 15th or 16th depending on how the NBA schedules us. 5 or 6 days rest is plenty of time for these guys. We’re talking about Professional athletes in their mid to late 20’s. If anything I’d be more worried about rust from not having real game time action for two weeks. I agree with you that we’re pretty much locked at the three and I’m not advocating running the starters for 35+ minutes a night for the last 5 games. I’m saying we take care of business vs San Antonio, clinch the Pacific and the 3, then you treat the last 4 games kind of like preseason where you’re running out 14 guys, limiting the starters. Maybe you sit Fox a game here and Domas a game there, but you don’t just shut them down completely.

50 wins within reach. Not even in my wildest dreams.
50 Wins would be a game changer..... going into the off season with 50 wins and the Kings all of the sudden becomes a destination for free agents wanting to be on a title contender for next season.

Only a handful of teams are going to get to 50.... 50 would be huge for the franchise!

Malik Monk also said 50 Wins was the team's goal..... so let's go get it guys!

I leave them home for the road trip. Fox has a new baby so I say stay home rest and enjoy your kid. Same for Domas. Stay home and rest. Remember neither guy got the all star break. Other I might rest Keegan, Monk, Lyles

Yah that is possible too.. If we end up losing two of the next three then I see us resting players for the last 2.5 to 3.5 games.

It's all well and good for people wanting to play for contenders, but what type of players would we be looking for? Guys like Blake Griffin or Al Horford? Guys that have their best years behind them but want to play for a title? Maybe even a guy like Cousins (although Cousins would be a very big stretch since he's not even playing this year and I wouldn't really want him here anyway, but the guy was a good passer and could fit in pretty easily with a 10-12mpg type of player which is the only reason I mentioned him.). I would definitely take on a player like Horford or Griffin for a bench role and a spot starter if needed. Maybe limit to 15mpg.

But right now I don't want to bring in anyone that's a star unless we lose a starter. We have two star players in Sabonis, and Fox. Murray seems to be growing his game and can be a good player and scorer down the road when Fox begins to slow down a bit. Kinda like when Peja took on scoring duties from Webber. If we lost a guy like Hueter I wouldn't be looking at filling the starting SG spot. I would move Monk out there with Fox to see how well that would work before signing or drafting a SG.

I think the Kings will settle at #3 spot giving how Memphis keep winning and the rest of their schedule seems easy enough. I thought the Clippers at least might have a shot at beating them, but blew it after leading by double digits. The Suns will settle at #4. I think the Clippers WILL drop down to Play-in and GS move up to #5 spot which they definitely DO NOT want, since they're going to be facing the Suns. And I think the Lakers move up to #6 spot...but, it's either GS or Lakers filling either #5 or #6 spot...that's my prediction by looking at their schedules.

Yeah, I seriously doubt if we move out of the #3 spot, but damn is that a tight race for the #6 seed.
Only two games today but both interesting. The Heat can help put the Mavs out of their misery which means they might have little to play for when we next visit them. That would help towards 50 wins. Mavs also play in Atlanta before us, and they are in a tight race for the #8 seed.
I’d like the Pels to beat the Clips pushing them down into the 6th spot, but that’s dangerously close to allowing the Lakers to move in there.
It’s going to be a crazy week, with a lot of implications.

The only team I don't want to play are Lakers. 10+ free throw difference a game is very hard to overcome no matter how good a team shoots from three. And Domas would probably play around 25 min a game due to all the weak fouls that would be called on him because of Lebron running into him and then whining about it

A week to prepare puts a lot of weight on coaching and planning. Do we prefer Mike Brown's deep knowledge of the Warriors giving us an edge, or match up with the far less proven Lakers staff?

I'm all for it as long as we don't burn ourselves out to reach the goal!

True. The difference in how the game would be called would be absolutely disgusting, im pissed just thinking about it.
