Here's a question for you, was Kevin Durant a good player when his team was winnign 20-something games? Was Paul Pierce a good player when his team won 17 I think it was? Or DWade when they won 15?
A lot of people around here assume that if they are hystrionic enough with their hate that its goignto sell it. It does just the opposite.
Its so damn obvious that tyreke isnt the franchise player. He doesn't have the fire and the will to win that a superstar needs and he obviously doesnt give a sh@! about improving his game. Demarcus Cousins on the other hand.

tyreke's not a keeper? he had a rather efficient night tonight. 16 points on 8 of 18 shooting, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists against 2 turnovers. that's hardly worth complaining about. the kings lost on the defensive side of the ball, like they do most nights. their offense has improved under keith smart, but their defense is as dysfunctional as ever. that's a team loss, and watching kings fans point the finger at tyreke time and again is just getting old. the arguments are not even cogent anymore. the guy needs to improve, but he is NOT the problem...
asinine posts like this--from the tremendously loud minority--are what make coming to kingsfans.com less enjoyable these days. i can enjoy talking about a promising but flawed young team with reasonable people, but the anti-reke spammers are such ****ing downers. its such a blessing that people like this aren't running the team. the kings front office may also be a flawed creature, but at least its not THAT bad...

If Kings fans were running the front office, the entire roster would change after every loss and we'd cycle through "pass-first" PGs like Deion Sanders goes through suits.
What do you mean don't look at stats? How can you say someone isn't looking to pass when they have 9 assists. That SHOWS they were looking to pass. How can you argue that he wasn't looking to pass when it's right there in the box score. Sure, looking at the box isn't a good way to judge a players game with some things. But saying a player isn't looking to pass when they have 9 assists is ridiculous. Could he pass more? Sure.

Yes Evans over all stats are nice. The 0-1 from 3 would be nice except that one 3 point attempt was a killer. The other stats that stands out 0-0 from the free throw line.
Is there a way you can give these guys a timeout from posting? Something to the effect of like a 2 hour temp ban. Some of these posters are getting ridiculous and turn these game threads into trash. They turn a simple game thread that talks about what's going on into how every player on the team is terrible because they aren't a super star every night.

Here's the thing with his assists tonight. He was getting them in the offensive where IT and Jimmer were initiating it. Evans was getting a pass from them or a second pass then moving the ball when the defense rotated.
Which is what he should be doing, right?

While I know you live to find fault with Tyreke on any and every occasions, he leads the team in FTs, or actually after thei night might now be marginally behind Cousins. In any case, the 0 is an abberration, and not one dictated by his play particularly either. He was on the rim as always, just did not get the calls.

I think it more has to do with him trying to avoid contact and lay stuff up rather than initiate it and go up strong.

Nope. He was getting them in the flow of the offense which is good. It's when they reverted back to the one on one that things went south. How many assists did he have in the 4th?
I'm afraid I have to agree with you slightly here. However, I think the main thing for him to change right now is to go for a dunk when he's running down at top speed. When you're going so fast it's hard to get good english off the board, which is why his layups are always (in such situations) just rolling off the rim. If he goes up strong he'll either get a dunk or a foul called. The downside of course, is greater risk of injury.

Yeah I mean I don't feel like he's selfish or he's terrible I just feel like he's a poor deicision maker which is why I don't think he's a PG. He's got good handles and is a decent passer, but when he gets to decide how to run the team things grind to a hault, he takes bad shots, and we get turnovers. He's a lot better off with someone else deciding for him, and just playing in the flow of the game and taking advantage of openings in the defense when he can. I don't really see how that's hate.

Unbelievable stupidity by Smart. No Isaiah Thomas in the 4th? When he was THE guy in the first quarter, the guy who prevented the Kings from burying themselves like they have been? The guy who had the Kings up big against the Pistons. The guy that makes this team go. That's just ridiculous. People talk about IT's defense. He was better by far on defense than Tyreke or Thornton. What is this guy - the team mascot?
Tyreke played like a lazy man on D. I defy anybody to review the film and tell me differently. He had one foot in the paint all night long. Stuckey was like a freaking All-Star. What the hell happened to Tyreke? He has more defensive talent than 90-95% of the players in the NBA and he's acting like a stiff out there. Just embarrassing. He's definitely not the defensive player we saw as a rookie, that's for sure. Let the apologists apologize now.
Thornton's D was terrible. The only guy who defended Knight all night was IT and he just wasn't good enough to get into the game in the 4th quarter.

That's not hate, it's a reasonable opinion. But not everyone has the same view as you, or at least hasn't put it in such reasonable terms. There's some downright silly stuff in here.
I am totally fine with this and agree with most of it. But to say Evans isn't looking to pass when he has 9 assists and has been improving since Smart took over is ludicrous which is what I was commenting on.
Eh he wasn't really looking to pass in the last 3 minutes, his turnover lost us the lead, then he had a couple dumb shots. He thinks he's the man and he wants to take those shots. But IMO if he's going to play like that he needs to add a lot to his perimeter game. He had an open 3 I think and instead of just shooting it, he panicked and threw up a shot trying to get fouled and looking like a frog. He always wants to drive and when that's not an option he panics. If he was an amazing athlete and all that'd work, but he's not and it doesn't. A turn around J like Pierce or Kobe has would benefit him so much. He played pretty badly down the stretch when he was put at PG. I like him a lot more as a SF where he has a quickness advantage and can play like a point forward. Or at the 2 when he's out there with Jimmer, he atleast has someone to space the floor with him and another good passer/ball handler. The only time we have that balance is with Jimmer or IT out there are PG. The Reke/Thornton/Salmons trio doesn't work, and to be honest I think the only reason Smart put Salmons out there was to get who he perceives as his best scorer the ball in his hands and play ISO ball. I really feel like in those situations the ball should be going into Cousins anyway, with a couple shooters on the floor to give him room to work.

Let me give you a little story.
At the game a few weeks ago during pre game I was reading my program. Out of the corner of my eye I catch a King doing a 360 reverse dunk. I looked up and thought nice dunk Donte. Except Donte was just now going up with the ball. Then I thought it might have been Honeycutt. Nope it was Evans. Head was up close to the rim on a 360 reverse dunk.
This is why it's disappointing that he doesn't go up strong and dunk more. It's not because he can't. It's because he chooses not too. Hang on the rim and risk a T if it's in traffic. Wait for it to clear before letting go.

And to top it off Thornton is just as bad. Neither knows how to handle game situations.
When Thornton fumbled the break at the end he should have pull back out instead of throwing up and off balance layup with the defender in front of him.
