I can tell you the exact reasons. The Magic are picking 1 and they love those skilled bigs, and those top 3 are super skilled. This isn't a "guard driven league" as much as it is that your franchise guys have to have "guard skills". All 3 of them do in some ways. Banchero looks like like a poor mans LeBron at times.

Give him the Lyles/Metu role and his value will be diminished. If the Kings win, it will be easier to swallow however. I'm totally OK with Murray ending up a King on draft night, always have been, but they better know what to expect.

I get this and I guess that's why it's invaluable to have Brown on board on a fresh 4 year deal.

When we traded for Barnes, it was presumed he would play 3 and open up time for Bagley, but Joerger doubled down on the 3 guard lineup and put Barnes in and it left even more of a crunch for Bagley (did not help this seemed to be the start of his injury woes).

I want Murray as a 4 who can also play 3, but I guess that assumes Barnes is a 3. I know lots of discussion about the lineups but the truth is I just don't think Barnes has been paired with a player of Murray's level. We have always had a big hole at whatever pairing he is with. If Murray and Barnes are duplicative is that really a problem, or is the problem that we just never had two good players that can switch off on 3/4?

I am not a coach, I don't know. Brown is going to yay or nay this, he will yay or nay Ivey and Fox too. I'm cool with knowing that.

Ivey is a 2.

It's funny cause on trade boards most of the teams licking their chops to move up and grab him have a starting PG already in place. ie; Pacers, Hawks, Detroit.... Heck even OKC just picking him.
How come when it comes to us people don't think he fits?? :rolleyes:

If there's one thing I've learned since the big trade(s), it's that Pacer fans and Pistons fans don't really have the best judgement as far as talent recognition is concerned. If you asked them, Buddy and Bagley are both all-star level talents that were being wrongfully held back by the Kings.

Barnes legit ran PG at times though. Sochan can pass but he's not running anyones offense. Maybe though, he could always develop that, I guess we will see.

If Ivey were a better guard prospect then he'd be sure going #1.

Luka or Ja go #1 in this draft, no questions asked. So does Cade and Jalen Green Fox probably goes Top 3 and he was a weaker prospect than Fultz/Ball at the time. You put him in 2017 and he probably goes where Ntilikina is, and put him in 2021 and he probably goes where Wagner or Davion does.

I think it's telling Ivey is wedged between the guy who can't shoot or defend and can only play the most irrelevant position in today's game, and the guy who pretty much everyone considers will end up as Harrison Barnes.

I think Sharpe has an uphill battle to be a good NBA player, let alone a great one. And if he gets there, it won't be any time soon. He's played no college ball and missed the last part of his final year of high school. The Thunder make a lot more sense for him than the Kings as he's going to need a lot of development and a patient organization.

Say what you want about OJ Mayo. He was a beast his 1st few years. Idk what happened to that kid honestly, big fall from grace

Oh, I don't think Barnes and Murray would be a problem offensively. The issue is if both can't consistently switch out then them along with Sabonis guarding the rim could be a big problem. Offensively I think the size would be a great gimmick. Not sure how that fits with Fox but both shoot well enough to spread.

Exactly.

Including the 1 season he missed in its entirety, he's averaged playing 48 games per season. He hasn't played more than 57 games in a season since his 1st two years in the league.

If people were down on Bagley being made of glass, how the hell could they deal with Porziņģis?

And he hasn't been a dominant enough presence on the floor when he does play to overlook availability.

If he couldn't work in DAL, IDK how'd he'd work here.

We've certainly been fooled by trade-deadline acquisitions ourselves in the past. :) And I don't think anyone here was mad at Buddy when he came in and shot 43% on threes for his first 2 years in a Kings uniform. Sometimes it takes awhile for the new car smell to wear off.

I think it’s less about fit and more about maximizing your players skill sets. 2 score first guards who are capable of scoring 20 plus per game sharing a backcourt has only happened a handful of times. Cj and Dame was the best example we came up with in a previous discussion.
 
All it takes is going back to playoffs for the team to be relevant again. Look at Min. We need to draft at 4 and still make a trade not involving our youg guys.

I for one ain't thar high on ddv. I think Davis is just as good and we got him for cheap. Shots way better, more athletic, doesn't demand major min and what you lose on defense you again on offense. And he's hungry!

Then trade Holmes. He'll trade DDV for all I care. I see no need to trade Barnes as a 4th option he's gold and can hit game winners
