And it's to the point where as long as he doesn't reach on Duren, they all fit in some way. Griffin, Davis, Murray, Mathurin, all fill a role and probably jump the current starter in the lineup.

I swear to the god the only reason Duren is mocked as a lottery pick is because he's super young.

But for the love of god, have teams learned NOTHING over the past decade?

Gentry should be fired tomorrow for this win. Incredible ...

Can't even blame Gentry. You could see that backcourt play with Buddy develop the whole time and you could feel the smirk of Carlisle while saying "gotcha!" in his head as it played out. lol.

He’s been legitimately good since Hardaway benched Emoni Bates but I agree that he should be nowhere on the Kings’ draft radar

Before the tourney I would have agreed with you but there's so much noise about him declaring at this point that I'd be surprised if he didn't.

Well, if he does then my grief isn't nearly as palpable because I don't think he'd be the pick but he creates another buffer. It's still risky at this point because of that muddied issue though.

You haven't been pleased with the Mitchell Development?

Hmmmm... nah.

I think he's pretty snoresville as a prospect. He's okay, I guess. He'll probably help them in the foreseeable future as... IDK the 4th-6th best member of a core.

I'd be EXCITED if we had Giddey/Kuminga/Wagner on this roster, and I didn't really even like Wagner at all but he's proven me wrong.

He should be a first rounder in this draft. It gets pretty weak on physical beasts past about 18-19 or so. If he's a first rounder and pulls out then he's listenting to the wrong people. From then on it becomes a question of how high he can rise.

just physically, the kid’s a top five pick. Dude’s 6’5”/6’6” with a 7 foot wing span and probably has a 40 plus vertical and his shot looks good. The problem of course is that we haven’t seen him play anything that could be counted as strong competition.

He’s essentially a late 90s/00s style high school pick and, while those can end up as Kobe or Lebron, they can also end up like Kwame Brown.
If we really wanted to take a home run swing and raise the potential ceiling of the team, he’s the guy you’d go with but I don’t know if Monte’s quite that much of a gambler.

Those were the three players drafted in front of Mitchell which I think is the point. Mitchell's great and we're starting to see his offense take off a bit now that he's getting time. But no doubt any of those three would have been a huge shot in the arm for this team and roster and we'd only be looking for one starter instead of two this offseason.

I really don't particularly care about jumping in the lottery this year, I'm worried about picking x +1 in an x player draft.

Tier 1
Chet
Jabari
Banchero
Ivey

Tier 2
Griffin
Mathurin
Murray
Davis

(I don't like Griffin really, but there's no denying he's going ~5th, so that creates a buffer for us and I'm just hoping we don't pick him.

Staying at 6 is find, dropping 3 spots is pretty unlikely, but being at 7 is too risky. I like Tari Eason and Kendall Brown but they are nowhere near as exciting.

Nobody really knows though. Guys like Josh Jackson, Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, and Nerlens Noel were all top tier prizes in their drafts while Giannis, Rudy Gobert, Devin Booker, Domantas Sabonis, Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, etc were all considered lower tier prospects. I'd personally rather have Keegan Murray, Bennedict Mathurin, or Tari Eason than anyone in this year's tier 1. Jabari is the only top tier guy who makes us a no doubt playoff team if he hits. Ivey and Banchero are somewhat redundant with our guard and center heavy roster and Chet is just such a weird fit in the NBA in general that I'd feel better if we slipped a bit and picked one of the top wings in that tier 2 range instead. Slipping down to 9 would be a little disappointing but almost every year half the players in the top 10 are overdrafted so someone really good will be on the board there at 9 or 10. Whether we're picking top 3 or around 9-12, either way the pressure is all on our scouting department and GM to get it right.

I doubt Sharpe's declaring, but I beg to differ.

Where I bolded is the drop off point (with Griffin very clearly projected to go higher), those guys may not be bad per se, but it's Mitchell over Giddey/Wagner/Kuminga all over again.

Getting Mitchell instead of Giddey/Wagner/Kuminga was not a miss. I would bet money he ends up having a better career than all 3 of them. Don't get too focused on first impressions. All three of those guys are on teams which gave them big roles right away. Mitchell with his strong frame, attitude, work ethic, and two-way skillset is set up well for long-term success.

100% where I am, every word.

I had to miss the game and just saw that we won by 1.

Made me pissed.

Am I rightfully pissed ?

I know it was an important game for the tank since we were neck/neck

we're very much in the same boat. I am all in on Smith or equally happy if we can have Benn or Murray. I haven't watched Eason much so I don't know about that. I feel like the top 4 has more than one Marvin Bagley in it this year. I also have a completely unfounded concern about Chet that would knock him out of the lotto or even possibly the NBA. Of course if he clears medical and the combine it is safe to say I am wrong and I'd at least entertain the idea but I don't see how he pairs with Sabonis.

we won because of stellar play by Mitchell and Metu with a really nice finish to win it by Jones.
Haliburton and Buddy (who blew the game by dribbling) looked very dejected. They wanted it.

Those are the positives.

I think it's done now so I'll save my outrage for the final draft order and if this one game swung us 2-3 spots in the wrong direction I will scream then.

I mean we play the magic and Houston twice in the next week. We weren’t going to out tank Indy even if we lose tonight and sit out fox and sabonis the rest of the way. I take a lil joy in seeing Buddy fail and Hali pissed

This. And being a Kings fan has made me a worse person. But I’m ok with it.

Right but those game are all on the road where we're 10-25 this season. The only guaranteed win I see is the last game against Phoenix where they're almost certainly going to be resting all their starters with the 1 seed locked up already.

Regardless, we've been chasing Indiana since before the trade deadline anyway so it's not like we lost position here and the two teams behind us (San Antonio and Portland) play each other 3 more times and Portland's remaining schedule is probably the easiest in the league. Basically I think there's a good chance we hold our current position and go into the lotto with the 6th worst record. Losing this one could have pushed us up to 5th if everything else breaks right but the difference between 5th and 6th pre-lotto is miniscule.

We won't rest until Quinn Cook-Josh Jackson-Tetsu (on a 10-day)-Emmanuel Terry-Neemias Queta is the starting line up down the stretch for the Kings and playing 48 minutes a game.

Chimezzie Metu, DDV, Davion Mitchell and Damian Jones are all too good now apparently and will ruin the tank.
My bum knees are good for two or three minutes a night. I’m in!

Fools. Freakin fools in the front office for leaving the door open for a dead-in-the-water coach to pull out a win THIS game.
You don't play around with these things. Do what you have to do within the rules. You wouldn't be the first.

I can't wait to see the Pacers move up, or get that stud pick, we coulda shoulda had. For the next 3 years, we can all lament about them not only having Hali BUT "fill in the blank from this draft"... ahh, what could have been.

Our two best players are out and Harrison was a net negative. At the end of the game, we were rocking a lineup with Damian Jones, Trey Lyles, Justin Holiday, DDV, and Davion that was essentially only in the game because Buddy Buddied and Davion decided to take the game over. Aside from blatantly throwing the game, how else were we supposed to lose?
