Now that's disingenous by Grant.
He said that George was a genius for building up the Palms, but he made a mistake by putting up the third tower. The family had a small little casino that made a profit in the Fiesta. They wanted to be big guns and did the Palms. They took on a lot of debt before Palms Place. Then, they decided to take on way too much debt to build condos at a casino off the strip.
If you lit a firecracker and held into into your hand until it blew 97% away, Grant thinks you are a genius for the way you made the wick sparkle until you made a mistake at the end.

I didn't say Stern was going to take over the Kings. I said ask the BOG to front the Maloofs $3 mill + for the pre-development costs at which point the Maloofs have lost some of their power just like when the league sent people here to "help" with season tickets/advertising etc.

I'm completely fed up with idiot Napear! Not just because of his lock-step Maloof (spelled Foolam backwards) bias but his totally foreign to Sacramento and Northern California blab. Just now, he has on Charles Davis and very first thing out of his ridiculous mouth is, "oh, Charles, you went to Madison Square Garden for the first time recently, blah, blah, blah." Who gives a rats arse in Sac about Napear's New York this, Madison Square Garden that - constant NY Giants, Yankees, etc. It's sickening and literally everyday on his show with only passing mentions of Giants, A's, Niners, Raiders. The day he's finally booted out of this town after having to put up with a quarter century of his NYC homer crap will be one helluva day to celebrate.

Grant thinks Greg Norman was a genius in the 1996 Masters and the same is true of Grady Little in the 2003 ALCS. Granted, they made a mistake at the end. But still, genius.

In all this... isn't there something illegal about what the Maloofs just did? If the City/NBA can prove they weren't negotiating in good faith, but were maneuvering to scuttle the deal, is there a legal precedent for action against that? Might that also be slightly slanderous of George to come out and say those things, implying Stern/KJ were liars??
If this thing gets legal, and I would not be surprised in the least if it did... my money's on the big nasty NY lawyers that the NBA has. As they say... could be time to "lawyer up"!!!

just curious, if the Maloofs were indeed dealing in bad faith and wanted out, why would they let negotiations come so far?
Almost impossible to prove. The only thing that could really hang them would be emails, letters, etc. that specifically mentioned something like pulling the wool over the eyes of the city or the NBA, etc.
As far as slander and/or libel goes, implication doesn't count.
The thing the Maloofs better be the most worried about is David Stern and the Board of Governors. From what Stern has said and done, my best guess is that he's "this far" away from pulling the plug on the Maloofs no matter what it takes. I still remember his comment from a year ago..."They've got Burkle?" I can only imagine that Stern dreams of having someone like Ron Burkle step up and become part of his exclusive little club.
If this were the case, and I'm not saying it is, the Maloofs would let negotiations go as far as possible to make it appear as though they weren't the villains.

Keep in mind their ultimate goal: get out of Sac. Move to Anaheim.
This is exactly what they'd want to do. The NBA required them to try to make it work, so they have to try to make it appear that they did... but this last round of "concerns" is so friggin ridiculous... now what they're trying to do is simply throw a wrench into the system to slow things down. If they were genuine in their desire to make it work here, they would have tried their hardest to try to get these concerns addressed long ago... like in Orlando perhaps?? Or better... make a list throughout the YEAR and give it to the Maloofs proactively, saying these are what we need to have happen for this to work for us. Not even close to anything like that. They never once, to my knowledge to ANY initiative in putting this deal together or trying to prevent it from hitting snags. The only actions (and non-actions) they've taken indicate they want this thing to fail at all costs.
What they're effectively doing is setting a trap by playing along for a while. They might've hoped the city would shoot it down. In fact, they may be actively campaigning for that to happen. For all we know, they could have put up that stupid STOP website. Or had a minion do it.

Steinberg jumps into the mix, and Maloofs attorney says they think that Sac is trying to jam too much in too quickly? WTF, that was in response to the 2015 deadline THEY SET.
