This from Hoopshype:

Rick Bonnell: My source on Karl-Kings says things are close to fruition, yet could fall apart. I know this sounds convoluted, but accurate. Twitter @rick_bonnell

This reminds me of:

My gut take on the situation tells me it's not about money/years anymore... I think Karl is just wanting to make damn sure everyone knows he's not taking jack crap from anybody whatsoever. Zero meddling, he's the authority on all court related functions. You know... about how to put the ball in the hoop and how to stop the other team from doing it. Thank the baby Jesus he's got the clout. There isn't another coach alive who could probably do that. At this point I couldn't care less about style, fit with DMC, etc.... what this team needs is a god damn leader, and the longer this plays out, the better I feel that he is exactly the right man for the job, and that he's just pounding that notion into the brass's heads during this "negotiation". Haha. I love it.

Dean Oliver, Nicholas Reeves, Most of them within the analytics department. I even have a friend in marketing who literally has text convo's with Vivek on a daily basis. Ownership runs the organization through a glass wall, let me tell you.

I can confirm this all. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw PDA at 31 Flavors last night, and apparently PDA told the kid behind the counter that Vivek texted his friend about the mess Cousins is making out of all of this. I guess it's pretty serious. I would bet there is a 50% chance that this might blow up, and that if it does it will probably be because of things that Cuz may have said to his agent that were then possibly reported to management. Take THAT to the bank.

From Jason Jones below. So now... I thought it was Pete who was supposedly championing the Karl hire. Now it is Vivek pushing Pete according to JJ???

I am really uneasy with a front office that can't all agree on the same lie at any given time. Unsettling...

"At the insistence of principal owner Vivek Ranadive, D’Alessandro met with Karl last week. Talks have been ongoing, and a resolution is expected soon."

I cannot wait for this news to be made official!

We FINALLY have a real NBA coach, guys! :D

Once a deal is reached between George Karl and Kings, I'm told offensive guru Vance Walberg is expected to be brought on as an assistant.

Hard to believe this info would get out of a deal is NOT going to end up taking place.

Anyways, anbody know much about this "offensive guru"?

Don't you guys think the deal is in the bag already, and they're just sandbagging on the announcement until after tomorrow's game? That's what I figure - I'll bet the agreement is inked already - or at minimum both sides have verbalized "deal".

I imagine they've both said "deal," and now they are just spending the next couple days ironing out details. Those details wont affect the deal that's in place, but they are settling the distribution of power in house, figuring out what Karl can and cannot control.

new Kings fan here.

Apparently he's a current 76ers assistant coach and developed the dribble drive motion offense. It's what Kentucky uses, so Cousins should be very familiar with it. Great fit if true.

Did your sources flip flop? ;)

No, they never said the deal was in jeopardy, all I was told was that many outsiders were in the head of Demarcus Cousins, which had a non-viable shot of making this a much harder deal to make, however with our without his approval, the deal was going to get done.

I did a quick Google search on Vance Walberg - I guess he is currently an assistant coach with the 76ers? Not sure he can just jump ship?

The dribble drive motion is an offensive strategy in basketball, developed by former Pepperdine head coach Vance Walberg during his time as a California high school coach and at Fresno City College.

The offense was popularized at the major college level by John Calipari while at The University of Memphis, and was sometimes called the "Memphis Attack". Originally called 'AASAA' by Walberg (for "Attack, Attack, Skip, Attack, Attack"), the offense is also sometimes known as the 'Walberg offense' or abbreviated to DDM, and has been described as "Princeton on steroids".[1]

The offense focuses on spreading the offensive players in the half court, so that helping on dribble penetration or skips becomes difficult for the defense, because the help will leave an offensive player open without any defenders near him. As an example a guard can drive through the defensive gaps for a layup or dunk, or pass out to the perimeter if the defense collapses onto him.

Ok, your "insiders" gave you a rumor of what was going on with "outsiders" and Demarcus. Got it.

I think we're all hungry for information and having to sift through a lot of what is or isn't true to get at it. I don't see why we need to question people on this forum who say they have info. Take it with a grain of salt, sure, but we're all Kings fans and there's no reason for us to be sniping at each other. I know we all do it (myself included) but right now let's just wait to see how things unfold.

Besides, I quite honestly would take the word of a forum member I've never actually met who says he has inside info over what Ric Bucher reports. It's all relative.

I was teaching some courses at FCC while he was there and caught quite a few games, very good at taking raw talent and quickly working it into an offensive system. His sets were pretty simple and loose, usually with more dribble and less pass and multiple scoring options. Collision would be a nice fit but I fear MacLemore and Ruddy who I think over dribble as it is might stick the ball up. But as other posters note he is in Philly so I am not sure how he gets loose to come here until next season.

I mean, why so condescending? I'm not sure if there is prior history between you and Gabriel, but all he is doing is presenting information to this forum he was privvy to. It's no different than the mass amount of Twitter rumors that may or may not hold their weight in value.

Thanks guys. We're all Kings fans, at the end of the day.

I think everyone is just a little tired of anything coming in the form of a rumor. I know I am...

I want an official statement from George Karl himself. I want that "breaking" scroll across my TV. Most of all, I want that damn yellow banner up at STR! Lets get this thing done!

Yah, sorry... Don't believe you or your "sources". Its pretty much the opposite of every media outlet who has their own sources. Also, name dropping your "sources"? Messed up man..

Same....

We all know it's going to happen during the AS break. CD already dropped it. Corbin will coach the final two games before the break and then Karl will be ready to go after... Wouldn't surprise me if the deal didn't get announced until then...

And of course until that time everyone and their mother will think the deal is falling through because of the time it's taking them to announce it.

Sit back, watch some TV, play some games, and come back in a few days unless you want to hear from everyone and their mother who claim to have some source.

....... and the 31 flavors guy talked to his cousin in Newark, NJ who had just had breakfast with Karl who laughed and said that He had a date this week with Vivek and Cuz who were going to cook dinner for him. Seemed pretty believable. Source.

There's INFORMATION, then there's "information". Forgive me if I am not going to take an "insiders knowledge of an outsider" as actual information rather than just hooey.

Fair enough.

I'm sure we all just want to see the official announcement and have all gotten a bit ansy after all of the speculation and rumors. There definitely is a dark side to the way our FO handles decision making as well as the impact of social media.

If I had to guess I'd say we won't we'll hear anything until after the Milwaukee game, allowing Karl to take over during the all-star break.

I'm sharing this sentiment.

We more than likely won't hear anything until the all-star break.

Honestly I feel like the deal has been done since Bruski said there would be a change during the AS break.

Ever since then it has just been the media putting as much spin on every tiny grain of info they have gotten.
