Kings Offer Contract to George Karl

They will probably wait until Friday for the press conference, because Dean Smith's funeral is on Thursday, which Karl will be attending, unless they just dismiss Corbin now.

If we are going with the dribble drive motion offense I don't think JT will be here next year.

I don't think he'll see much time as it is honestly. I think Evans might just make it back into the rotation. I will say this though, any offense that is based around guard penetration is the exact opposite of what this team should be doing. Cousins not starting and/or finishing your set is a surefire way to get straight to nowhere and fast.

It's about time we got another conflicting leak. Was wondering why it was taking so long.

A report earlier today paints a less than favorable picture of former Sacramento Kings head coach Michael Malone during his tenure with the team. According to the piece:

“Ranadive, a source says, told Cousins he had to do it because Malone didn’t get along with GM Pete D’Alessandro and had been insubordinate by missing a meeting.”

Whether Vivek Ranadivé told DeMarcus Cousins that this was the reason Malone was relieved of his duties or not, is unknown. NBA sources confirmed to Cowbell Kingdom that the incidents mentioned in the report are factually incorrect. And according to multiple sources, the insinuation that Malone was ever insubordinate during his time with the Kings is laughable.

Malone and D’Alessandro did not have a perfect relationship during their time together with the Kings, that much is clear. But league sources highly doubt the authenticity of these reports regarding a major blow up between Malone and D’Alessandro, or for that matter, Malone and any other member within the Kings organization.

Joining @FOXSports1 at 5 PM EST on George Karl and Kings and the start of the NBA trade deadline.

Anyone know what they talked about?

Speaking of trade dead line...wonder if Pete has still been active on that front..

He better be active, this team is in no mans land heading into the summer. Possibly no 1st rounder and hardly any real cap space. He has to find a way to dump at least 1 of Landry/JT and Sessions.

I still dont think this is "official". We've all been "expecting" Karl to take over for a few days now, but this doesnt say its a done deal.

Honestly this just seems like ESPN trying to get in on the headlines. But hey.. good to see this is pretty much a done deal. As a kings fan, I cant celebrate until it's a done deal, but thank God we almost have a solid coach

Woj and stein were tweeting those at the exact same time. I'm assuming these were statements sent by his agent? Interesting that they are slightly different.

Absolutely fantastic, and clearly a very honest, true, and straightforward statement from Cousins here. How ironic (but not surprising to those who know him) that Demarcus Cousins turns out to be the only adult in the room (save Karl perhaps). I'm VERY proud of our big man. As far as I'm concerned, this IS your city DMC. Own it. And do your thing.

I think this is Cousins beginning to show some media savvy. He chose two of the most respected NBA journalists to deliver a statement(s), therefore selecting trusted allies within the media. It's all about loyalty. These two are likely willing to pay that back.

Cousins is a man among children both on and off the court. Hats off to him for keeping sane and not letting the frustration show too much. Class act. Maybe Vivek and company can pick up a few pointers.

This seems like it's going to happen, so allow me to say that I am glad we have a proven and winning coach coming on board. Hopefully now we can shift our attention to the roster, which is in desperate need of attention, as well as lighting a fire under Rudy's ***.

All I have to say is this FO better start paying attention to how they treat Boogie. He's as loyal as they come, but if they burn the bridge, eventually he'll have no trouble leaving this place. Please dont make that mistake, Vivek.

Shouldnt have ever come down to Cuz having to issue a statement but Im glad he cleared the air.
The FO is on the verge of losing the best player this city has in a while, after 5 years Cuz has seen more turmoil than most players see in their entire careers.
5 head coaches 2 GMs 2 Owners, cloud of anahiem over the team, arena deal agreed too then backed out of by Maloofs, cloud of Seattle over the team, The mess of the Malone firing, The mess of Ty Corbins tenure, the dragged out nature of Karl's hiring along with a very leaky and rumor happy rookie GM and Owner.
We are all very lucky that Cuz has chosen to put up with all of this embarassment, being the laughing stock of his peers, and not openly ask to be traded, which could still happen and this Karl hire is probably the last straw if it doesnt work out.
