If you have some idle time, figure out how long it would take you to make 450 jump shots from 15 to 23 feet with a couple of people retrieving your shots. That might provide an an idea how long Mike Bibby spent in the Kings' practice facility Tuesday night following the team's 109-92 win over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Bibby left the facility early Wednesday morning feeling a little better about his shot than he did a few hours earlier when he was 3 for 12 from the field against the expansion team. Included among those nine misses was an airball.
Bibby said it didn't take long to get comfortable with his jump shot.
"After a couple of shots from the inside, I started feeling pretty good." said Bibby, who is shooting 42.7 percent from the field for this season and has had three single-digit point totals his past five games, "A lot of it is just (wrist) snap. I'm not snapping. I'm trying to get that back to my memory bank because it's all muscle memory."
Bibby is renowned for his consistent shooting drills, especially during the offseason. However, this season he's tried to rest. This was the first time he had gone into the gym for one of his marathon sessions.
"I haven't been coming to shoot this much," he said. "Usually I'm shooting all the way through (the season). But I've been trying to rest the little nicks.
"When my first shot (against the Bobcats) went in and out, I thought I was all right because it felt good. But after you miss a couple more, you start thinking about what you can do and what you aren't doing and it gets in your mind a little bit.
"So I figured I'd come in and try to get my mind right again and my muscle memory back."
Miller ready to hunt - The NBA schedule-maker did Kings center Brad Miller a solid. The team plays back-toback Friday and Saturday nights in Minneapolis and Indianapolis, respectively, and then is idle until Tuesday night in Milwaukee. So Miller and Greg Ostertag - is there an outdoors program in need of a couple of 7-foot hosts? - plan to go hunting Sunday.
"We're off all day Sunday and there will be no cell phones," Miller said. "Yeah, I'm going to take Greg with me. Nobody is going to be able to find me unless they know."
