Kings Needs

Our first need is to have mucho patience with our youngins.

We need a big who is really really good.

We need to keep our coach for more than two years.

We need K-Mart to play defense likes he means it.

Agree with others that most pressing need is that one big interior defender/rebounder/shotblocker.

We need a superstar. Everything else is either secondary or a symptom of not having one. We have too many Robins and no Batman. How many times have teams like that won a championship? Maybe once in the last 2 decades?

Our superstar could, potentially, maybe, if everything works out exactly perfectly, be Tyreke Evans, which is why I wasn't too upset with the pick, despite being a Rubio fan.

Aside from all the things you guys are mentioning what the Kings need is this. Someone or a couple of someones are going to have to knock some people on their *** to compete in the association.

Yes the Kings will need to out score the other team to win:)

But think about Fisher and Kobe knocking Scola and Artest around in the playoffs. HEY, thats SCOLA and ARTEST they were banging on!

The Nuggets success was based on their swagger. Spence witnessed first hand what the Nuggets were doing when the original KMart gave him a hard foul towards the end of the season.

So yes by all means get a backup big and trade KT & Beno for someone that can play. But at the end of the day (Don't you hate that line;p) the Kings will need to get tougher, rebound harder, play physical defense AND condition the ref's to expect it when they come to Sactown.

Other teams should need to lace them up tight and wear a little extra padding when they take the floor at Arco.

We need to dump Noc/Beno for some bigs. I like those 2 players but they have some value believe it or not and maybe someone will take them off of the Kings hands. I sign and trade with Orlando for Gortat would be great way to dump Noc and Beno, just ship him anywhere for a scrub. We need a big asap.

The team should be

Evans/Sergio
Martin/Garcia
Greene/Caspi
Thompson/Thomas (use him if we got him)/Brockman
Hawes/Gortat

We need to sign Diogu and McCants (even if he's just to trade in a package).

I think the kings should trade Beno/Noc in a deal and McCants and Thomas in a deal.

It's early but exciting already.

But think about Fisher and Kobe knocking Scola and Artest around in the playoffs.

Just don't forget the NBA rules:
If you elbow Kobe Bryant in the face, you shall be assessed a flagrant foul, ejected from the game, and fined $35,000;
If Kobe Bryant elbows you in the face, you shall be assessed a personal foul against Kobe's elbow, and Kobe will shoot free throws.

While more physical defense is a good idea, there is nothing in the foreseeable future which is going to get us the superstar treatment from the refs. That's not something you can get from them just because you want it.

I only see one problem with Marbury. He behaved himself in Boston. Solid vet who can show Evans the ropes. His attitude fits with Petrie's vision.

The problem is: Can Westphal handle him? Dude would have to bring his Boston attitude with him, and if he does, good addition. Given a Beno / KT trade.

I will even offer this:
13 player season opening sleeper roster

Marbury / Evans / Spanish Chocolate
Martin / Garcia / Evans
Nocioni / Casspi /Greene
Boozer (after a crazy trade please,please,please)/ Thompson /Brockman
Hawes / Thompson / Diogu

That's pretty solid and entertaining. Give Marbury 2 years and a 3rd year team option @ around 2-3 million. Heck, we may make the playoffs in 2010 and push into the late rounds in 2011. Maybe.Hey, I like it.

Here they come to fleece me, I hear shears. :)

I would rather California let Charlie Manson out to join the Kings on a work release program than have Marbury actually show up in town. He is that disgusting a human being.

Yeah, I edited the post above to anticipate my fleecing. Ya know, I didn't realize he was already 32. In light of that and his precipitous drop in production I rescind my current level of support and proceed with an "I would proceed with caution" form of support. (But I still support him, just a little).

Charlie Manson though? Really?!

Just don't let Slim catch you saying that. :p

Wow, I didn't know that Manson could play point guard! You know thats what I love about this fourm. You learn something every day..:D

The team needs chemisty.
The team needs a go2 scorer.
The team needs an identity.
The team needs a motor(Tyreke hopefully).
The team needs a rebounding specialist(Brockman hopefully).
The team needs a mismatch at the 3-4(Omri hopefully).
The team needs consitency.
The team needs some more muscle.
The team needs a couple more post moves.
The team needs to be exciting.

what do people mean by motor? i never understood that....

but this team needs a superstar scorer, even a injury prone one and a defensive bigman that can play pf/c... not just center or just pf.... okay maybe a really good center, hawes can take some minutes at pf. we need to stop going after all of these toxic asset players like nocioni and beno... they werent good enough for their own teams, what makes you think they will be good for ours? its not the same as a disgruntled superstar or borderline star wanting out of a bad situation. those were 2 bad players in a good situation, beno couldnt cut it in minny. why would we offer him full mle? nocioni couldnt get real minutes on a team that not only sucked but was injury prone.....

i say take a risk on some players that might actually win us some games... let the team pay as is until the deadline and trade as many players as possible. though it sounds like a bad move i wouldnt mind trading for tmac by next trade deadline. we need a real star, though he is hurt he is still better than any player we have on our team. we can start evans at sg and trade for tmac. i would be willing to trade a future first rounder to get rid of nocioni's contract and possibly benos.... we are a bad team, after a 17 win season.... season.... anything is better than just adding a rookie, unless he's lebron james. we need to do something proactive sitting on our butts and acquiring bad contract after bad contract isnt working. it hasnt worked since we started doing it with the webber trade.

30 isnt old, though 30 and injury prone isnt great either but atleast we'd have a valid excuse to lose 65 games in a 82 game nba season. our superstar was hurt, not we suck; i hope we get the number 1 draft pick. im ranting and i apologize but we really suck.... and i dont see us getting any better by keeping all of our bad contracts.

The motor of the team would be the stabalizer. The motor of the team would score, defend, keep everyone's intensity level high, and lead by example. A motor is the driving force of the car, and its exactly the same on the team, the driving force behind the wins. TJ ford, Lebron, Wade, Anthony Parker, manu Ginobili, Chauncy Billups. Most of the time they are point gaurds, but it is anyone who plays well within thier team, and uses their team properly. Kenyon Martin, Tyler Hansborogh, David Lee, all have amazing motors, and therfore are part of the motor of thier team. It is an individual thing and a team thing, either/or. David West...ect. There are about 50 great motors in the NBA, and the kings have JASON THOMPSON as our best motor so far. Kevin is too offense oriented to be a true motor, and Garcia has it; but not enough of it. Beno...same thing. Of the top 50 motors in the NBA, we have ZERO of them.
