Kings need to sign a Free Agent NOW!!!

As far as deepening the bench goes, we have one roster spot and one spot to backfill for Bobby. At this point, I think Petrie is going to wait and see what happens in Indiana for one of the slots...

To fill behind Bobby, there's no use looking for someone as good as him to be available because it simply isn't going to happen IMHO. The last thing I see Petrie doing is making a panic acquisition.

If we get someone it will be someone who can fill in for a few minutes at the piont, because we can always switch Doug into a rotation with Bibby and backfill for Doug with the available guards we already have.

So, to look at PGs -

Minard may be doing good in the NBDL but that doesn't mean he's ready for the big show. Pull him up and put him into the pressure situation of trying to replace Bobby? I'd hate to do that to a rook - any rook.

Nick Van Exel - You can't turn back the hands of time. He WAS good a few years ago, but - that was a few years ago.

I'm not that familiar with the others...

As far as Alexander goes, he is still listed on the Kings roster on kings.com... AND he's been seen at recent games. So, who knows?

Van Exel can definetly still ball he has just been lost a bit this year because of the team over stacked point guard position, last year he put up 12.6 & 5.3, he still has one good season in him and he has the leadership qualities a team needs he takes the big shots and isn't scared, I would love to see Van Exel play for this team before his time is up.

You're talking in the past. He's in the self-proclaimed last year of his active career for a reason. He's not getting playing time for a reason. Leadership qualities a team needs? I don't see the team switching from the current leadership. We have people who will take the big shots and they aren't scared.

We don't need Nick Van Exel.

I would love Nick Van Exel... He is a big game player, and very clutch... He hits big shots. And would be rejuvinated with a contender. Of course we have no chance of getting him... So...

Sure we do, he recently said he was going to retire after this season, I think that gives trade leverage. I'm sure Petrie could make something happen.

To VF- he is not starting this year or getting very many minutes because Stoudemire knows how to run the team better, because he has been a blazer for a while, Van Exel has a lost role on the Blazers team when I watch the games. He dosen't seem to fit out there with them. Sackings is right a Championship contender could rejuvenite him this year.

He's got a lot of question marks but if you asked me what pg in the league was most like Bobby Jackson I'd say this guy. I have no idea what he's making so it might not even be feasible. We don't need him for leadership anyway, and he wouldn't have to start either. Im gonna go check his salary numbers.

Nick would have at least been an idea. If you're looking for a dynamic combo guard, well there you go. That he's clutch and fearless is a big bonus. But there really is a question about how much he has left. And I said "WOULD have been" an idea on purpose -- he's got a huge salary number attached to him that makes him virually impossible to acquire. Accoreding to RealGm he's making more than Bobby this year.

Actually, Van Ex will make about 12 mill this year while Bobby will make about 3. Pretty huge discrepancy.
