Kenny Thomas must have sensed y'all criticizing him earlier in this game-thread, and responded with those two cold-blooded, turn-around jumpers...

If that's what it takes, I'll criticize him in every game thread!!!

;)

Lots to be upbeat about so far... Martin looking really good. SAR close behind. Hart and Garcia with hustle.

Bonzi better work on that jumpshot during this preseason cause you need to be able to shoot if you expect any minutes from rick. But i like how he posts and attracts all the defenders and then kicks it to the wide open man

Interesting 1st half. I saw some entertaining and promising things from the Kings. What I did not see was much in the way of defense, as evidenced by the Mavs 58 pts and about 65% (or so) shooting %.

I really liked what I saw from the bench. As mentioned before, we may just be seeing the return of the Bench Mob. Now wouldn't that be great? However, the starters better start playing some defense. It is early....I will give it time.

58 to the mavs isn't all that uncommon, but the defense needs to do better.

sounds like the starters haven't shown up, but hey it's only the first preseason game, i'm not gonna trip.

pregame or not, i just really want to beat the mavs, to shut cuban up. he also has some priceless expressions when his team is doing bad or looses :D

First unit sure did not look good. Is that what is called vets setting an example? Loved the guys off the bench. They played with energy and hustle. I not exactly surprised to be outplayed by the Mavs. They pretty much have the same team that played together last year, while out team is just getting used to each other with a lot of new faces.

Defense not so good, but that takes some time to come together too. Not panicking here.

this score is nothing to worry about...look at last season's preseason record: 2-6 and we went on to win 50 games

preseason means nothing....although it would be nice to beat the stupid mavs just because mark cuban is such an idiot

The vets will get it together. If we have that second unit able to come in and do what they did tonight so far, we are going to be formidable.

Hey, look!

My optimism is back!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ma just interested, how did Garcia do at SF? Did he get exposed for the lack of strength or did he hold his own??????

If Garcia can give Peja a spell this year, we would have solved one pretty big problem for us.

It feels so good to see some Kings style basketball. I had no idea how much I had missed it - and I'm not just talking about TDOS.

;)

It's only pre-season, but I have to respond to what I saw. Painfully reminiscent of last year giving up easy shots, and standing around on offense.

Rahim's inside game was good. Brick was right about his defense. Van Horn was over powering him. Uh oh. Miller's inside game defensively scary-bad. Garcia looks plenty strong enough to play in the NBA. Bonzi looked very big. Martin looks lightening quick, wish we could straighten his elbow when he shoots.

Second half will be better.

Garcia wasn't much of a factor, especially when he was matched against Stackhouse. It's always hard for us to match up against the Mavs, though, so I wouldn't read too much into it...

He's quick and he and Martin already have a chemistry working - they could be very dynamic.

First unit looked out of sync, and that will definitely improve. Saw flashes, but for the most part still the same lackluster energy on defense with the Mavs getting a lot of easy buckets.

The second unit looked great.

All-in-all I'm excited so far... first unit will get more familiar with each other soon.

You aren't going to change how Martin shoots the ball. He's been doing it all his life.

;)

Can y'all imagine how good we could be if our starters actually show and play the way they are capable?

THE BENCH MOB IS BACK!!!!!!!! I may even like them more than our starters!

I have a feeling that I am going to love this season.

I never really care about preseason scores OR our main starters play. I am more interested in our bench and new guys. So far, I AM IMPRESSED!!!!

Can't wait until I can see and hear it myself.

By the way VF, thanks for the PBP. I would be crying without it!!

Well, E.T. just called the first team's effort "pathetic", so I guess he's not letting them get away with the pre-season excuse.

Hopefully they pick it up in the second half.

Did I read right on yahoo game thread? Skinner hit a 17 footer?

He probably did that before us and Philly, so I'd assume yeah. I'll look for Peja/Bonzi/Brad/KT (continue what he was doing in the 2nd qtr) to get going now.
