They won on the back of Davion playing like a star though?

Yeah you’re too quick….. for me to edit…. Thanks for glassing over the win/loss faux paux.

the issue is

if say Metu played like a star or starter I would have been happier but Fox will come back and we will still suck at wing.

if they won playing starters normal minutes I would be fine. But they are playing starters abnormal minutes because the schedule has multiple days between games. It’s an abnormal situation they are leveraging to gain useless wins. Something only the Kings would do.

The thing is that I think we’ve all given up on the play-in faster than the Kings have. Playing Davion heavy minutes doesn’t make sense if you’re tanking but if you’re trying to keep your head above water, playing your one remaining good player huge minutes is a foregone conclusion.

because we are realistic and the Kings collectively have their heads up their ass.

Go root for the Dolphins if you're that into having an owner who wants to tank.

C’mon Tetsujin. Don’t believe the nonsense you’ve read. You’re better than that! Flores is full of $#1t.

Dudes already been proven wrong multiple times and his case is going to hell. He’s an ego maniac. That’s why he doesn’t have a HC gig.

You should be throwing shade at the Sixers and Rockets owner.

More things we love to see. We don't need 40% (although would be insane), but if Mitchell is going to shoot like this, there's no reason he can't play off Fox while taking the hardest defensive guard assignment on the other end. The Mitchell DDV development trending up is excellent for next year to plug in 2 core pieces next to Fox/Sabonis.

we gonna have to figure out which is a better combo. DDV or Off-Night starting next to Fox. Personally I think DDV is the better option because imo Off-Night would be much better as a 6th man compared to DDV.

From the perspective of someone who's Off That Narcotic™, why shouldn't he? It's not like him agreeing to cooperate with the tank would have saved his job; what's it to him if the Kings don't win the lottery?
When ML Carr tanked the Celtics he was given a front office job afterwards. Although my guess is Gentry has just had enough.

Anyone know why Kayte wasn’t announcing today.

All Mark Jones said at the beginning of the broadcast was that she had a "situation".

Oddly, at the end of the broadcast, Jones asked Jerry Reynolds if he would join him on the broadcast Monday and Jerry said that he would. So Kayte's situation would seem to be one that will last some time.

OTOH, maybe it is just none of our business what her personal life brings.

A bit of a hot take to compare the Kings to an organization which, at that time, had been run by the same dude for nearly fifty years, wouldn't you say?

For those that missed the game... Talk about an absolutely stone-cold clutch play to send it into OT. I get the whole "pointless" wins things, but do we really think Davion doing stuff like this doesn't matter? Shouldn't we want our rookie making star plays to win games?

You wont find a single person who is going to be mad about Davion making this play. It's the journey to get to that play that is frustrating and it's exactly why this is the worst franchise in all of sports. The smart teams shut it down when it's time to shut it down and the Kings shut it down after they've passed the smart teams in the standings.

Watch, Barnes won't get a rest day until the Kings have backed themselves up in the lottery as far as possible. The stupidity of this franchise is easily the most predictable thing in sports. It's the definition of insanity.

Agreed. The Gentry rotation is beyond ridiculous. But I am going to be excited about Davion playing super well and DDV looking more and more like a long-term core piece. Hell, Trey Lyles is still just 26 and is on one of the best stretches of his career with the Kings. He's been legit and has made a clear case to be a key rotation guy next year.

But Alex Len playing over Queta is just dumb. Harrison Barnes playing over 30 MPG is just dumb. Justin Holiday playing massive minutes is dumb. Risking a Davion injury by playing him 45+ minutes is incredibly dumb. You can throw Harkless and Josh Jackson out there for 12-15 and make sure these guys aren't getting overextended, but Gentry is playing the guys out there like a playoff rotation.

I'm just noting that he coached the team to the worst record in franchise history while Tim Duncan was in the wings and got to stay with the org. I'm just pointing out that a coach can take one for the team and be rewarded and it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Justin Holiday sorta had to play huge minutes since he's like our only other guard aside from Davion (completely healthy but already playing huge minutes), DDV (coming off a major leg injury), and Lamb (also coming off of multiple major injuries). Moe and Jackson might be wings but they aren't guard-wings like Holiday is.

And I'm just pointing out that that precedent was set by an organization that had built fifty years of culture, and had the credibility of one guy at the helm, for that entire span. The Kings are no such organization. Even if Gentry were actually interested in retiring from coaching, I would trust the Kings organization about as far as I could throw a chimney by its smoke, if I were him.

You are missing probably the most balanced option. Starting DDV and Off-Night with Fox as a super 6th man. ;)
