I started this thread now so people will notice that this is an early game...

If Tetsujin does a writeup, I'll just merge it into this post. :)

Welcome back, Boogie! GO KINGS!!

P.S. Anything Ric Bucher says should be treated with the same high regard as anything said by R.E. Graswich.

I love these East Coast swings, it is so much easier to watch them, lol.

With Rudy out, I actually see this team improving. George Karl will more than likely have to play a big at the four and the five. I almost beat my head against the wall in the last game when the lineup was Rondo, Collison, Gay, Casspi, & Acy. The only even remote bigs that leaves are Cousins, Kosta, Willie, Casspi, and Acy. At least George Karl has the common sense to put Kosta at the 5 and nowhere else.

That leaves Cousins, Willie, Casspi, and Acy to potentially play the 4. Cousins can do it because of his range, though I don't like it because of the potential foul issues it would cause. Willie can guard any player anywhere and offensively he is limited no matter what position he plays he will not help offensively ... yet. Acy brings energy and last season he showed at least a limited offensive and defensive range. Casspi is an excellent rebounder at the 3 and the 4 and at times has great range.

Therefore, with Rudy out, George Karl is essentially forced to utilize a normal line up to the King's strengths. I hate losing a borderline all-star player but in the short term this will be good for the team because roles and rotations will tighten. Get well soon Rudy.

I'm starting to feel like we are at that point where the team will have the "Rudy gay effect" if we trade him. Which is a positive

Sure, create a crisis and then resolve it.

I'm startign to feel we're at the point that we are about 2-3 losses from getting a "new coach effect", and a nice little 3-4 game boucne.

This Rudy nonsense is just that, nonsense.

I have an idea; use him how he's been used best rather than in a position he's never had much success.

He's a SF. This is a problem with Karl's addiction to small ball. Rondo/DC is only one aspect of it. It usually also includes Rudy at the 4. The Rudy/Cuz P&Rs which were really our only bright spot last year under Karl have completely disappeared. That's on Karl.

So play him as a full time SF, put him in P&Rs with Cuz where he can attack his midrange game with more space/options, then consider his future here. This is similar to the Reke situation when Smart stuck him in the corner. Many wanted Reke gone but he wasn't played to his strengths. Magically, when he was, he and Davis led NO to the playoffs.

The first two I chalked up as losses....this one is winnable. Orlando does play hard because of Skiles and the majority of their home games have all come down to one or two possessions so I can see the same thing here. Rudy should sit this one out and heal up the shoulder. Let's see the ball movement and defensive effort. What are the odds Trill gets yanked again for missing a defensive assignment?

Also ''Magically'' the guy that was supposedly holding us back carried Boston to the playoffs as well and is currently there starting PG.

As far as the Magic game we need to attack Fournier since he's playing SF with Casspi/Rudy to get him to tire out cause that dude is going to light up whoever is on him for the most part and he's a assassin at the end of games in the clutch.

Put last year's Kings in last year's East and they would make the playoffs. Making the playoffs in last year's East isn't that big of an accomplishment.

You reckon? I don't know I'm pretty sure every single year in the past decade or so we are sub 500. against the East and didn't we lose to the likes of Philly as well while the Celtics with IT were WELL above 500.?

The Celtics with IT went 14-7 (.667) last year, and the last time the we were over .500 was in 2005-06 with 44 wins (also last playoff appearance).

It's crazy to me that people are saying that making the playoffs in the East isn't a big accomplishment when this team didn't reach 30 wins in the last 7 seasons.

Do we really want to discuss IT?
Celtics made the playoffs with IT as a bench spark plug.
Right now IT is starting, but he is starting alongside great defenders and Stevens actually influenced his effort level and toughness on the defensive end a lot.
Still IT is who he is - an undersized, scoring PG, who doesn't fit that well with a balldominant big man.
The grass is always greener elsewhere.
Our players have more than enough talent, to win.
Like IT, who developed certain expects of his game in Boston, players like Gay can develop and change a bit too.
What we need is a strategy, that works and a coaching stuff able to teach players, what they need to do to make the strategy work.
Enough of this XYZ can't do this, this playstyle doesn't fit XYZ.
This approach doesn't lead anywhere outside of constant instability, cause you try out coach after coach to finally get someone able to establish this one specific playstyle, that fits everyone on our roster.
We have the most talented big man of this decade - this guy will adjust to everything and still be great.
Rudy is versatile enough to make a lot of things work.
It all comes down to play defense and to take care of the ball.
That's where we need to adjust and defense is mainly effort and pride.
Rotating players and coaches will do nothing, until this franchise finally concentrates on the things, that really matter - prevent your man from scoring the ball at will.
When IT is able to learn, what it takes to fo so, there is no reason Rudy can't do it.
So sick of this - stick to what we have and make it work.
There is no reason this team could't be a playoff team in the west.
Man up and play ball.

I always feel like I'm supposed to read your posts as a poem of some sort

 What?
Lacking a lot of words. Too busy to look up everything in a dictionary.
So my posts are a lot lenghtier, than they would be, if I would post in german.

He/She means that you start a new paragraph every time you have a new sentence (kind of like a poem). I try not to get into grammar topics on the web, but that's what mac is most likely picking up from your posts.

Agreed^

I admit I only watched the first quarter of the Heat game. I can't stand to watch the Kings play small ball. IMO Rudy should not be banging against guys that regularly play the 4 and 5. Rudy is our number two scorer and he is wasted battling and boxing out the likes of Draymond Green. That job should be for Koufos, WCS, Acy, Moreland or perhaps Cousins. If you send Rudy inside to bang of course he is going to get injured more often. Playing the 3 he is less likely to set up under the basket playing defense against 4 and 5 players.

Did Karl do this same nonsense with Carmelo?

Just leave Rudy at the 3!

If the Kings were in the East you have to complete rethink the strategies over the years. Teams are less likely to tank and be intentionally awful if they know there's a great chance they can make the playoffs. Remember as bad as Brooklyn was that they made the playoffs last season.

If Rudy Gay was on another team, we might want him then. People will be screaming for the Kings to get a #2 option. He has been sucking recently and that's that. We know what he is capable of and it is his responsibility to get back on track. It's been a few games, I'd give it time.

We're starting to the effect of two players dominating the ball next to Rudy.
As long as rondo is the pg, he's going to have to learn how to be effective off the ball. When rudy runs the pnr with cuz, rondo is nearly useless.

Rudy is out. Our starting lineup for today is:

Rondo, Collison, McLemore, Cousins, Cauley-Stein
