You know it's time for basketball when the Kings face the Lakers. I'll fill this in more later but I just wanted to get this started early.

I have a saying I use at times like this...

DIE LAKER SCUM!!!

Ah, that felt good.

GO KINGS!!!

Forests redux

So back to talking about forests...

<g>

I thought that I'd tease you a bit, 21. I won't bug you in this thread, save for this joke-post.

I'm looking forward to the Laker game and thank you for doing the PBP. I found it useful after I had missed a game when I took a business trip down to smokywoodland (LA, of all places) for two days. I-5 is sooooo dreary. Thank God for good music--good for a nearly-deaf guy like me, even.

I like that quote,a lot. Kobe wont play so beating the L.A Kobes wont be as fun.

piksi's got it right. It doesn't matter who suits up for LA. We still say..

DIE LAKER SCUM!

Hey, there's still Phil Jackson.

Reminder: Tonight's game is also being broadcast on ESPN, although it may be delayed because of the Celtics-Cavs game. I hope a lot of you are able to watch. This team is fun - and it just feels so much better.

:)

Wait. I thought Beethoven was the deaf one...

;)

As is being reported in another thread, Mike Bibby is out at least 4 to 6 weeks and possibly longer with torn ligaments to his left thumb. Grant and Jerry are saying Petrie is probably already on the phone trying to secure the services of a veteran point guard off the wire. I'd say this pretty much seals Shakur's fate. We simply cannot keep him.

Well, welcome to Kings basketball. Let's just hope the kids can focus on the task that just got a lot more difficult.

I'm trying to see the glass half-full, but this just sucks...

-------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, we're about to get started in LV. Douby starting at the point... Kobe not in the game because of a sprained ankle. How odd. I could have sworn the reports said he had a wrist problem. I'm not gonna touch that.

:p

Douby, Martin, Salmons, KT and Moore for the Kings

Tip eventually to LAL.

Pass broken up by the Kings. Kings ball.

Not much good on that possession; ball oob off Kings. LAL ball.

Fisher draws first blood.

2-0 LAL

KT in the low post working against Turiaf, called for 3-second violation. LAL ball.

10;54 left

Sasha stopped, Kings rebound.

Martin in to KT in the post, kick out to Douby.

QD FOR THREE!!!!

3-2 KINGS

Turiaf on the other end for two and the +1 on foul by Moore.

Bonus good.

5-3 LAL

Salmons mid-range jumper for two.

5-5

Miller out tonight with a sore back. (Grant says it's not serious - he'd be in if it weren't pre-season) It just keeps getting better and better. At least the kids are gonna see some major minutes. In all honesty, this could actually be somewhat of a blessing in disguise for the future of our Kings... I hope.

LAL ball, miss. Salmons rebound.

Salmons to the line. One of two. LAL ball.

6-5 KINGS

Brown pass horrible, intended for Turiaf but goes oob. Kings ball.

9;08 left

Martin three doesn't go; Douby second chance doesn't go. LAL gets it again.

Fisher pass knocked oob off LAL by Moore. Kings ball.

8;42 left

Fisher, Vujocic, Walton, Turiaf and Brown for LAL.

Mikki miss; LAL rebound. ANOTHER errant pass by Walton, Kings ball.

KT inside, not much of a shot but Turiaf bails him out with a dumb foul.

KT to the line.

KT misses first; makes second.

7-5 KINGS

LAL for two.

7-7

7;48 left

Moore loses the ball under the basket and it rolls oob. LAL ball.

Fisher miss; KT box out on Brown and the rebound.

Kwame Brown nearly runs Martin over and is actually surprised when he's called for the foul. Non-shooting. Still KIngs ball.

Douby puts the ball on the floor, gets it knocked out of his hands. LAL turns it over at the other end and Salmons finds it but loses it again and LAL gets two on a throwdown.

9-7 LAL

Kings ball. Bad pass bounces off KT's back and LAL finds it. Sloppy offense by LAL but since no one on the Kings apparently knows what they're doing, Lakers manage to get another basket.

11-7 LAL

Coach Reggie is NOT a happy camper and calls a time out.

Martin misses on an off-balance fallaway jumper; LAL with two at the other end.

13-7 LAL

Salmons for two.

13-9 LAL

5;25 left

Cisco in but no idea for whom since Grant and Jerry are talking about the Running Rebels and Reggie. By process of elimination, it appears Cisco came in for Douby.

Ah, crap. Stupid bleeping computer.

Martin got a freebie on a three-second violation.

Lakers got a couple from the stripe and an easy bucket.

Garcia got two.

16-14 LAL

Martin running one-hander for two and a trip to the line on a +1.

2;34 left

Farmar and Mihms in for LAL>

Bonus miss.

16-16

Cisco, Martin, Salmons, KT and Moore on the court for the Kings.

Turiaf to the line on point-saving foul inside by KT.

First good; second good.

18-16 LAL

Jackson looking more and more like Colonel Sanders, BTW... He's using a cane after having both hips surgically repaired.

Martin to the line while Grant and Jerry discuss Phil Jackson's talents.

Makes first; and second after it bounces from side to side.

18-18

Walton miss; Garcia with the rebound. Garcia bad pass bounces right back to him, he assists himself and gets the bucket.

20-18 KINGS

Kings showed zone for one possession and then returned to man-to-man.

LAL turnover; Kings lose the ball oob - I think.

20-18 KINGS

Time out and commercial.

SAR coming in - with Garcia, Martin, Artest and KT on the court.

Garcia to the line.

First drops in and pops back out; Javaris C. in for Lakers. Makes second.

21-18 KINGS

2;14 left

Either I misread the clock before, or this has been the longest one minute in history...

Javaris miss; Martin runs it down. Kings ball. KT inside, tries a running hook that just hasn't got a chance. Ball oob. LAL ball.

Farmar for three.

21-21

1;23 left

SAR works inside, beats a double team and gets the nice lay-up to go. AND draws the +1.

Nice work, SAR!

Bonus good.

24-21 KINGS

1;01 left

LAL for two.

24-23 KINGS

45 seconds left.

Martin pass intended for SAR, was arguably a little too hard and too fast. SAR can't handle it and it goes oob. Lakers ball.

Daryl Watkins in for the Kings. Mihm to the line.

Makes first; misses second. SAR scoops up the rebound. Kings ball. NICE play by Garcia blows by Cook, who may not have even see Cisco as he went by. Garcia for two.

26-24 KINGS

Bad foul at the other end with 1.0 seconds left...by Garcia.

LAL to the line. Make both.

26-26 at the end of the first quarter.

And, once again, HT - Angela Tsai for those who didn't follow the last PBP - is talking about hairstyles. I'm SO glad we have this kind of in-depth reporting by our new courtside reporter.

Kings ball to start the second quarter.

Garcia drives inside and draws the foul, heading to the line. Grant has updated the report on Bibby, saying he actually tore the ligament in his left thumb yesterday during practice...

Garcia makes both.

28-26 KINGS

Garcia, Martin, Salmons, Artest and SAR on the court for the Kings.

LAL miss; Garcia rebound.

Kings ball.

11;18 left

Pretty much the entire Maloof family in the front row, along with Barry Bonds.

Garcia miss; LAL board.

Greene, Watkins, Artest, SAR and Garcia now on the court for the Kings. Disregard the lineup of the previous post. :p

10;55 left

LAL turnover; Kings ball.

NICE spin move in the low post by SAR, who draws the foul from Turiaf and heads to the line.

10;42 left

Makes first; and second.

30-26 KINGS

Moore back on the court. LAL miss; Kings rebound. Greene running the point.

SAR pass goes oob; LAL ball.

Farmar for two and the +1. Miss; Mihm with the board. Mihm able to get lay-up over SAR.

30-30

9;47 left

Greene to SAR, jumper from the side doesn't go. Vlad rebound. LAL airball; Kings catch it.

Greene pass cross court to Garcia, who gets inside and drops off to Moore. Moore heading to the line.

Garcia out, Martin back in.

Mikki makes first; and second on the double bounce.

32-30 KINGS

9;02 left

Greene called for foul on Javaris. 3rd team foul on the Kings.

Time out and commercial.

LAL ball. Turnover; Kings ball.

8;35 left

Artest inside, draws the foul - non-shooting.

Grant and Jerry now touting the Palms after HT had a brief discussion with George Maloof. Lord grant me strength...

Still KIngs ball.

24 second violation. LAL ball.

GJ still blathering about the Palms.

Turnover, Artest alley to Moore oop.

34-30 KINGS

7;44 left

Turiaf with the ball, reach in foul by Greene. Non-shooting. Still LAL ball. Bynum into the game.

Bynum works hard and gets two over Moore, but Moore tried to stop him at least.

34-32 KINGS

Sasha called foul foul on Martin, he's not happy. On the replay, it's pretty obvious Sasha was not the innocent in the whole matter. :p

Martin at the line. Makes first; and second.

36-32 KINGS

7;15 left
