Kings-Knicks on MSG tonight! (merged)

Forgot to thank you Kings113. Its nice to hear descriptions of the game when you can't see it. Makes me understand what VF21's PBP during the regular season means to many here at kingsfans. :)

Might change? ;)

If when Ron came was any indication from this past season... and with a new defensive-minded coach, new players... indeed. :)
I anticipate the d coming, it is just for as long as I have been a kings fan, great d and sacramento were never in the same sentance. It will take some getting used to.

Led the league in defense in 02-03 you know. Had a DPOY candidate back in those days too actually.

BOX SCORE Knicks 79 Kings 78, Game 4

Box Score for Kings-Knicks. Click once on image for full size box. Then look at horrible Kings FT's with Kevin missing 5. Amundson, Williams and Maraker did well as the Big 3 (bigs). I included the Knicks box as well.

Vegas Summer League item:

a player is allowed up to 10 fouls before he must sit out rest of game.

There are 35-40 fouls a game due to: (a) most are rookies and 2nd level players trying to break in to NBA, (b) 2/3 of all the refs are trainees trying to break in to NBA, and (c) the fast pace of the games with players trying to show off a bit and their lack of good defense ability.

Williams has upside, Amundson has NOWside

I wouldn't read too much into it. Gary had scoped out Justin before the draft ... note his comment made back in May.

So, of course, he's rooting for the kid.

We don't know Justin OR Lou really. I personally hope both of them make it to training camp. If they can prove to be helpful to our Kings, they'll both be welcomed with open arms by Kings fans. We're a pretty friendly bunch, honest.

:)

Watching 3 games in person it is clear that Amundson is ahead of Williams in being more NBA ready. Lou did a full 4 years of ball and established his role early on. William has a bigger upside which also means he needs more development time. But for pure muscle, hustle, rebounding and blocking, Amundson is ahead of Williams. Williams looks flashier and has longer arms but is lighter and does not use his body. Amundson knows how to block out his man underneath and to get position. Williams just depends on his leaping from any convienent spot and has not shown he can block out his man. In the NBA that difference is major.

But seeing Williams against the big boys in October will be interesting and I agree he may need some time in the NBDL.

Compounding those two is Maraker who has a very good shot selection all the way out to and beyong the 3-pt line and has a good looking jumper. He too can get position on his man and make space under the basket. He is getting more time as games go on which is a good sign for him.

Huang, Nicholson and Gray I think are gone. And Lampley not impressing anyone yet.

Actually, I'd say that Williams is far more seasoned than Amundson. Amundson went through a serious staph infection and nearly had his foot (or was it a hand??) amputated....he missed minutes/game his freshman year, sophomore year, and redshirted a game in between. He's just scratching the surface IMO...
