Kings/Knicks/Magic

LPKingsFan

All-Star
Knicks in:
Bibby
Artest
Thomas

Knicks out:
Marbury
Lee
Balkman
Crawford
unprotected 08 first

Starters:
Bibby
Q-Rich
Artest
Randalph
Curry

Bench rotation: Robinson, Jefferies, Thomas, etc

Why? NY goes for broke, getting rid of the Marbury headache and trying to make a run with an extremely talented lineup. Everyone in their starting lineup except Bibby is a post threat at their position, while Bibby, Artest and Q-Rich can spread the floor with their jumpers. Artest improves the D, and thrives back home in NY.

ORL in:
Abdur-Rahim
Crawford

ORL out:
Arroyo
Garrity
Dooling

Starters:
Nelson
Bogans
Turkoglu
Lewis
Howard

Bench rotation: Crawford, Reddick, Ariza, SAR

Why? The Magic shore up their rotation by getting a good 6th man energy guy in Crawford and a post threat to back up Howard in SAR. They only give up benchers as well.

SAC in:
Lee
Balkman
Arroyo (expiring)
Garrity (expiring/waived?)
Dooling (expiring)
Marbury (bought out)
NY unprotected 08 first

SAC out:
Bibby
Artest
SAR
Thomas

Kings waive Orien Greene and possibly Darryl Watkins as well, depending if they buy out Garrity and Dooling, too

Starters:
Arroyo
Martin
Salmons
Lee
Miller

Bench rotation: Garcia, Douby, Balkman, Hawes, Moore

Why? Kings rebuild in one fell swoop. Move out the veterans and bring in some youth. Lee becomes a fan favorite, and will cover up up Hawes' weakness on the boards for the next decade. Balkman replaces Artest as defensive stopper. Kings get to try out some new solutions at PG, all of whom expire at the end of the year. Marbury never sets foot in Sactown and expires a year sooner than SAR or KT. Knicks' 08 first could be a second lottery pick for SAC as well.

Kings can also look to move Miller and Salmons next summer, hoping that their impoved play this year improves their trade values significantly. Moore is essentially expiring in 08-09 as well (like Marbuy's deal) because hels only partially guaranteed the next.

Kings rebuild with cap space in summer of 09 and young core of:

PG: 08 1st (Rose? Collison? Mayo?)
SG: Martin
PG/SG combo 6th man: Douby
SG/SF swing: Cisco
SF: Balkman
PF: Lee
PF/C: Knicks 08 1st
C: Hawes

Plus a free agent or two. Remember, a number of players didn't sign extensions this year (Igudala, Josh Smith, Deng) and if they don't agree to a deal next summer, they could play for the one-year qualifing offer and be unrestricted in 09, just in time for the Kings to have cap space (sign and trade, anyone?)
