[Game] Kings @ Knicks, 2/12/14, 4:30 PST, 7:30 EST

You know what? I'm not gonna bag on IT for that shot. We've gotten way too critical of him, micromanaging. That was a open look...he's fully capable of making the shot...and he made it. I think we all need to just relax a bit and quit dogging every single move Isaiah makes. He played a MUCH better team game tonight and he's one of the reasons we won. Give him the credit he is due.

Generally, I'm with you, but clock management is one of the single most important attributes for a point guard.

Overall, I agree. IT mostly had a pretty decent game tonight, even though his shot wasn't falling. He didn't stop the ball as often as he usually does and got some open shots to Jimmer and others in the clutch.

I just would have been incredibly pissed if he had missed that shot and watched the Knicks tie the game because of it.

IT deserves never ending criticism and he IS the Devil incarnate. Never thought you would be wrog but maybe it's all that voodoo stuff you have around you. :p

Sorry, Glenn, but all the piling on about IT just gets to be old. Even when he does something right, some people would rather cut out their tongues than admit it.

I want IT to succeed, just like I want every player in the uniform of the Sacramento Kings to succeed. I have been very critical of Isaiah so I have no problem in giving him credit where I think it is due.

Even if he had missed the shot, there's no guarantee we wouldn't have gotten the rebound. You guys keep saying IF he had missed, etc. Well, he didn't miss. For all we know, Malone set up the play and rolled the dice. I'm not gonna lose a minute's sleep over that one shot because, like I said, he didn't miss.

I'll agree to disagree with those of you who are stuck on the clock management issue. I'm just feeling too good about a win to nitpick about the details. The rest of you can argue about the fine points.

:)

It was a clutch shot. He's good shooter. The question is, do we want him taking that shot again with that much time on the clock, next time in that situation? I sure don't
It's a high percentage shot... think about all the dumbass shots DMC has thrown up in crunch time hoping to get a foul call.. most the time he flops then complains about not getting the call. I still don't understand why people continue to bash IT even with a win tonight... man all your guys hatred towards Thomas is getting pretty bad..

You make a good point. I don't dislike him. I just dislike that he's been placed into a position that his talents are not suited for

Personally, I would have rather had Rudy shooting over the top with 4-5 less seconds on the clock

I'm joking. Do I have to put three or four of those pinkish emoticons to make it clear? Seriously. I have no problem giving credit and HAVE given him credit. You are not unique.

Let me spell it out. The Kings were up by three. They had been up by six but Hardaway had just hit a big shot to bring them close. There was a three second difference between shot clock and game clock. Knicks have no time-outs.

The proper shot, the one Jason Kidd or John Stockton would have taken, would be to dribble the clock down and launch a long three as the shot clock expires. By the time the shot hits the rim and comes off, time would have expired. Absolutely no chance the Knicks can come back and win. If they foul you, you are an 85% free throw shooter and one free throw puts the game away. 0% chance of a Knicks win.

IT is ~42% from 15-22 feet. That leaves a pretty high chance that his shot will miss. With Chandler and Melo out there boxing out, the Knicks have a much better chance of getting the board on a miss and getting the ball up the court for a chance to tie. Oh, and Carmelo is one of the all-time leaders for game winning/tying shots. There's a small but significant chance that by taking that shot, IT gave the Knicks a window to go to double OT.

IT made the wrong play and risked throwing away a guaranteed win by doing so.

It's a relatively small point, but execution matters. The 2011 Thunder would have beaten the Mavericks and gone to the finals but for poor clock management.

And once again we have to throw one player under the bus to defend another one? You could easily have defended IT without bringing any other player into the mix.

smh

Sorry, I missed the joke.

So we are blaming IT for not making a play Kidd or Stockton would have made? In It's defense, I have seen the same situation many times and point guards rarely implement what you are suggesting.

Again, it's a minor point because the Kings won.

It should be about execution. Stockton and Kidd were high IQ point guards who knew how to execute in the clutch. You execute the right way to prevent a comeback. IT hoisted an early shot and got two more points. Good for him. Had it gone the other way, we would have been screaming bloody murder.

Did IT do what he usually does on offense? Yes. A lot of shooting, questionable clock mgmt. Nothing new here, though. We might give ourselves a coronary if we keep getting agitated with him for doing what he's always done.

That said, he did fight a little more on defense, and did move the ball a little better. He made a good decision by giving Gay the shot at the end of regulating, and did not freeze out a white-hot Jimmer. I really didn't see "hero-ball" as much as I have.

At this point of the season, with what we've dealt with, I'll take it. It's a win. I'd much rather go into the break with a win.

If he has a clear shot and good look at the basket, why shouldn't he take it? I doubt anyone could care if Gay took this shot. Nope. IT bashing on this site has become so ridiculous. Magic fans should be upset abou tthat game winner by Tobias Harris because if that assist was a tad late by his guy, they would have lost. The guy with the low iq didn't recognize he had little to 0 time left and still passed the ball to a 3rd guy who BARELY managed to make it. Yet, Magic fans don't care about that...yet fans on this site are unhappy IT made a shot that gave us the lead. On that game tying shot by Gay, he left 3 too many seconds left. He should have taken the shot when the clock expired because it gave the Knicks extra time for a game winning shot.

We wouldn't know what would have happened... defensive rebound and a timeout. long defensive rebound and a miracle shot.. You all always try to find ways to bash IT no matter what it is... not one person bashed Gay for missing the fts, then some people were obviously counting on IT missing his so they could talk more **** about him.

Yep we won tonight, but IT played horrible because he made a clutch fts, clutch assists, and a clutch shot in OT. IT haters are getting more annoying than the people who claim Jimmer isn't an NBA player. People here would trade IT for a box of crayons if they could. Pretty depressing that a lot of people always want to point out all the negatives against 1 specific player when we win..

All those straw widows will be weeping bitter tears for their fallen husbands. I'm not going to respond any further because you didn't read a word I said.

I didn't criticize IT and I got criticized for what I said despite that. This type of argument happened last year also and will happen next year no doubt. If you need to resort to exaggeration to make a point, you will not make a point. Am I a hater? Do you have to resort to name calling? Do you honestly think it helps make any kind of point?

The complaint had to do with clock management and that is why he shouldn't have taken it when he did. It's called an opinion. If you can't tolerate intelligent peole making intelligent opinions, maybe you should go away as it seems so very upsetting to you. I don't give a damn. I don't want IT as a starter and you call me a hater? Really? Can I not have an opinion without being called a name? Nobody said IT played horrible and in fact a lot of these so called "haters" said this was a decent game from him. If I annoy you, use the Ignore feature but don't hold your breath waiting for me to change my opinion just to please you. I'll even assist you in Ignoring me if you can't figure it out.

McLemore +17 best on the team. Just an example boys and girls +/- means less than nothing about individual performance. Please don't use them to make a point
Again context is the key: Ben was very good playing the role he had, even though he missed both shots. Given only 2FGs in 18 minutes, his role was obviously to stay out of the way on offense and contribute on defensive end.

To me if I don't notice Ben than he had a good game, that's how I grade him.
