I was not one of them. I thought Teague was overrated, and I watched him play a lot. I put no faith in this rumor at all. Teague is a terrible shooter from 3pt range, shooting just 21% in his short career. He's not a bad defender, but Head is a better defender and a better shooter, so why would we need Teague. If he was a lights out, ballhandling/passing PG who could rack up assists, I could understand. But he's not! I think this rumor is pure BS. The Hawks probably offered Teague to the Kings and Petrie refused, so to cover their tracks they reversed the story.
Right now we have Tyreke, Beno, Jetter, and Head that can all handle the ball and get the offense started. You can argue that an improvement can be made on the overall efficency of that group. But do you actually see Teague being that guy? I think not. So are you really going to trade a 6'11" athletic PF thats proven, that at worse he can come in and give you 12 and 7 with 30 minutes on the floor for a 6'2" unproven PG that can't shoot the ball?
Look at this from the other side for a moment. Are you telling me that the Hawks that are forced to play Horford out of position because they lack a center are going to turn down a trade of Teague for Thompson? If so, I would fire the GM if I were the owner. I'm sorry, I'm not buying it for a moment.
