I thought Piksi was going to make one but I guess not yet. He usually does them a day in advance, so I don't want to step on toes.

Kings are 2-4 but could just as easily been 3-3. Things don't look SO bleak six games into the season, and I really really like the effort we are seeing from the guys.

Kevin has been the subject of a slight dispute over whether or not his efficiency is really efficient. While I agree that taking 25 possessions to get 30 points is in all reality what he does, but saying this discredits his abilities and must be looked at a little bit deeper. It isn't just 32 points on 17 shots, because that is absurd for anyone to think, but he is one of the more efficient players in the league. I only say this because he shoots a high percentage from the field as well, so regardless of his FT attempts the man should have the ball in his hands often. In effect the possession ends when the foul is called, so the argument that he takes a full possession is frustrating, because often Kevin goes to the line early in the shot clock anyway. All I am saying is Fts does not equal a possession. SO maybe he scores 30 points on, say 18 shots, which has no basis in actual fact but is a little more fair to his skill. He is able to shrug aside the increased defensive attention this year, and he is too quick for most people that guard him, including Bruce Bowen.

The Jazz are a very good team, not too far removed from the days of Jarron Collins as their starting Power Forward. Its a good team combination for Sloan. A beastly power forward who runs the floor and a budding star pg that runs the team. AK47 never plays well against the Kings, Harpring normally does. But being this season and Reggie is doing such a good job coaching, I expect it to be close. I will probably be disappointed.

In all logic, the Kings should have won last night as the better team, so I am glad thats what happened. I knew Minny would destroy them in rebounding, but I had no idea that they were such a horrid outside team. I also have no idea why they didn't just dump it to Al Jefferson every play. They tried for a while. Antoine Walker didn't play at all. How long till he gets bought out?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boy, it was nice to see Beno. He only had two assists, but thats because his teammates either didn't finish or it ended in a turnover or a free throw attempt. It was refreshing to see a guy who just looked like a point guard out there. And kudos for him hitting some big shots.

BRAD MILLER
That should sum it up. The man is possessed after his vacation the first two games. Blocking shots, rebounding. Hit that jumper more and you could be a huge help. Remember when it was automatic? Remember that game against Philly where thats all you did, but they refused to notice and you ended up scoring 36? Yeah. Do that. Drive some more too. And keep boarding like you want to come to America.

New rumor out of Jazz land. Memo/Millsap/Brewer/Pick to LA for Kobe. That would probably just be unfair. Sure, they wouldn't have a center, but with that lineup? JEEEZ.

AWARD TIME

TDM went to Craig Smith, who is just the kind of guy you wouldn't want to hit with your car. Not that you would want to hit anyone, its just he would walk away fine and you would have to find a way to explain the huge, hulk-shaped indent in the bumper and hood.

LW-VC award went to Ryan Gomes who sucked more than a Dyson. Salmons could get by him anytime he wanted, and John isn't necessarily a quick guy.

Methusaleh award goes to SAR, but interesting notes: His first name is actually Julius. Atlanta traded Lorenzen Wright, Pau Gasol, and Brevin Knight to get him from Vancouver. Atlanta traded him, Theo Ratliff (who I wanted all offseason because he blocks shots, rebounds, and has 11 mil coming off the books this season) and Dan Dickau were traded for Rasheed Wallace. Not only all that, Portland was almost successful in trading him to New Jersey, which was a three team trade that would've brought them Leandro Barbosa.

----------------- ------------------------------------------------------
No injuries please, someone always gets hurt against the Jazz who play very physical. Kevin will go off, I suspect they will try to put AK on him, but that just won't work. Salmons can post Brewer/Giricek, and Garcia is like an AK understudy. I hope Beno learned something from Pop and the Spurs, like defense, otherwise Deron will have a field day.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - free throws are free I guess
Brad - awesome. but lets try to score.
Salmons - cool kid in town
Moore - don't talk to the media, make your layups, and write a thank you letter to Jason Kidd. At least send him a postcard of the Sacramento scenery. We all know New Jersey sucks.
Cisco - You really don't have to shoot everytime, but as long as you are making them...

KT - I don't understand how someone who is 6' 7" misses so many layups.
Beno - Bring it up, don't chuck it up
Douby - I dub you Quaker, because you are instant O.....atmeal..... or because you shake things up like an earthquake. yah, there it is. its all your fault.....:o
Hawes - wear boots next time. maybe your feet won't look so wet at least. but congrats on your first NBA bucket.
rest - less than mateen

Coach Theus - I'm liking the plays I am seeing, and also your defense is really in tune.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz are good, Kings are bad but surprising at the same time. TDM goes to Harpring, LW-VC award goes to Memo, and KT will win Methusaleh award.

This was not a terribly wise issue to attempt to address here, as you're stepping into an issue that's already being hammered out by people considerably involved in it, and I am hardly going to let the bully pulpit carry the day. However in the interests of not disrupting the flow of the game thread, I am going to copy it over to the appropriate thread and beat on you a bit over there rather than here. Suffice it to say the above is...poppycock. ;)

Oh, and Kevin is shooting .437 so far this year.

Fantastic. Great job, especially the above parts. :D

People from California/people who watch football are strange...

Hey, I haven't watched a football game in over 30 years, yet when I visit my in-laws, I get the distinct impression that drinking beer and yelling "Roll Tide!" (or local equivalent) gives meaning to the lives of millions of southerners. And yet, here you are, calling us weird from the far side of the Mason-Dixon line.

Tsk, tsk.

tonight will be very interesting. we will see how well martin responds against another tough defensive team

They are really not a tough defensive team. Slaon's presence always makes it seem so, but they are allowing 104ppg on 47.7% shooting this year. Which is quite sucky. The key for them is not defense, its that they are leading the league in scoring right now at 111ppg.

Ronnie Brewer is a rangy breakout OG this year wiht quick hands -- he'll probably steal the ball form Kevin a few times. But otherwise they play little defense, and like to run. That's made for Kevin.
