Over the last 8 IT has averaged;
15.6PPG 4.1RPG 6.6APG 2.1TOG (3.1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio) 1.5SPG

Not bad fellas! The Kings were competitive in all 8 games played.

Could've probably been 7-1 in that stretch. Oh well, we are being competitive while losing. win-win right now because of this draft

DMC is starting to make the leap. He is already playing at the level of the best centers in the league, and in some cases dominating them. At 21 years old. He should be a junior in college right now. As terrible and disappointing as this season has been, as long as DMC is a King we have a chance to turn it around.

Yep! All the games have been fun to watch.

That's a matter of opinion. Personally I can't stand this style of basketball, not a fan of defense being an after thought. I understand that we don't have a balanced roster, but over the last two years Smart has shown a affinity for a losing style of basketball. Would be a shame to waste Cousins with that crap.

The worst Kings game is still more fun than anything else.

So did you like the style of game played tonight?

Bit of a quandary imo. I always want the team to win(aside from the LAC game which would have netted us Noah). But, I don't believe winning a few games in a style which won't win long term nor is not playing to our players strengths is that great of a situation. Much rather be winning occasionally with a proven style/system tailored around our best players strengths which we will continue to build on going forward.

That's one of my issues with this. You can't build on this style if you want to go anywhere. Also hard for me to get anything close to excited until I see Smart can actually incorporate our 2nd best player into this. Smart seems to look better by default, when Reke gets injured and IT/MT/Reke isn't an option. It's not exactly because of decisions he's making as coach. Also think it sends a terrible message to our youngsters that gunning is more important than defense. Just watching Utah tonight I was thinking its nice to see Corbin having his guys really get into us and be physical, and that's a style they will build on over the next few years. It's a philosophy, and judging by lineups and sub patterns Smart just doesn't value the defensive end that much. I just worry wins like this solidify in Smart mind that his system will work long term.

But anytime our 21 yr old stud center can literally lead us to a win on the road, it's a good thing and something Cuz can build on.

Still too much small ball, which cost us on the glass. Better effort on the defensive side, and although you never want to see that many ft's, it was nice to see guys trying to take away the easy baskets.

If we can play small ball and rebound and defend then it's obviously a non issue. Problem is games like tonight are the exception. If Smart decides this is how this team should play going forward then we will always be a bad defensive team, it's been proven over and over.

I hear ya.. I think Smart wants to play his best players and they happen to be mostly small so he's left with no choice other than to play them. But we played Excellent team defense tonight and only allowed 35% OPP FG which was awesome. I figure once we get more big bodies in here that actually fit with the team then maybe Smart will not be forced playing small ball.. We shall see!

Couldn't of said it any better. Nights like tonight are great, but I think Smart is steering us in the wrong direction.

I agree with you on this. They are pissing away their chance at having one of the dominant wing and big players on this team by playing Reke out of position. Cousins is already one of the games best centers but can you imagine the possibilities of having a fully developed Reke with a fully developed Cousins!? I will accept the loses and ugly basketball now just to see them dominate the league for a decade.

What?!! Are you kidding me? Favors isn't even close to being better than Cousins and you're saying he's better than those guys?

Yep. He's destined to be the best player to ever lace em up at his rate of progression.

grr. I wanted to watch this game last night but then randomly got drunk with my roommate and missed it. great. and now the Kings aren't going to play the Jazz again this season.

this series has to become a thing, btw. and Harris has to stay in Utah. and Jimmer has to become a player. I foresee great things for this potential rivalry. Harris vs. Cousins, Cousins vs. Favors. Jimmer hitting game winning shots in Utah. Gordon Hayward single-handedly stopping the Kings running game (seriously, that guy is a top3 transition defender. anybody see him blocking the Celtics twice on essentially the same fastbreak?).

Statistically, Evans isn't REMOTELY the best player on the team. (At least contributing to the team winning.) He has been outplayed, on average, at every position he has played. His best position relative to opponents is SG where the Kings give up the least with him in the game. If you look at team production differential, Evans is the 8th best player on the team. With Evans on the court, the Kings are minus 7.1 vs opponents, with him off the court, the Kings are minus 5.8.

Consider Thomas: The Kings are minus 4.4 with him on the court, and minus 9.5 with him off, a plus 5.1 differential. (That is the best differential among those who have played more than 1% of the time.)

The team does better with anyone one of Thomas, Cousins, Thornton, Garcia, Thompson, Hayes, and Green on the court than it does with Evans. Coaches pay attention to these things. Fans see athleticism and a spectacular play from time to time and extrapolate that to winning. They get a picture in their heads and hold on to it thinking that kind of play will translate to team success. Just like Jimmer fans remember all those long distance bombs in college and think it will happen in the NBA. Jimmer has the second worse differential on the team at net minus 4.9 (minus 10.5 on the court, team minus 5.6 without him.) Only, Salmons has a worse differential than Jimmer.

lol u really think the +/- differential tells u the story. outlaw had a +7 last night and the guy is a joke. To say reke hurts us more than helps us is absurd. The guy is a all around player. Just b/c his jump shot isnt there yet doesnt mean we dump. He is only 22 with plenty of room to grow. Reke is the 2nd best player on this team.

Funny, you act as if having your role and position changed, as well as being left out of the offense and benched for long periods of time have no effect on stats. You've shown how much you really understand by not acknowledging the circumstances as a whole and the overall effect they have. You seem to think playing IT at point, big minutes while given time to adjust to running this system can be equally judged against a guy consistently having his role, position and minutes changed almost on a weekly basis.

You bring up Reke's short time at point without acknowledging it was split between two coaches, two systems, and he didn't have a Tyreke type talent next to him as IT does, but rather John Salmons, nor did you mention the success Reke had at point under Smart before being moved, which has been stated a number of times here. You do yourself a disservice by acting like you can equally judge the positions Reke and IT have been put in without looking any farther than some basic stats.

Give Reke the ball, tell IT to stand in the corner, don't get IT involved, ice him for long stretches on the bench, and then come back and tell me you can judge his stats in that situation equally against Reke's.

Give Reke the ball and watch the offense stall. On average Reke has been beaten by his opponents at each of the three positions he has played this year. Isaiah has beaten his opponents. You're beating a dying horse and making excuses that don't fly.

That argument has already been explained due to who Evans guards, which has more about which midgets are on the court with him, than anything else. Please tell me you have anything else to prove your point that Evans sucks than the flawed +/- stat.
