KINGS in NBA Summer League in Las Vegas

What has become an annual ritual for some of us is once again coming down the pike, the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Running from 12-21 July, some games are played in Thomas & Mack arena (home arena for UNLV) while most are played in the cozy (seats only about 2,000) Cox Pavilion next door. In past years teams (there are 22 NBA teams entered this year) would play five games in a predetermined schedule.

This year will be a new format: all teams will play 3 scheduled games then all will go in a single elimination tournament leading up to a summer league championship game on sunday, 21 JUly. For those who have not done summer league you have missed a basketball junkies dream: six games a day for only $25, the daily ticket rate or $140 for the entire summer league. I think they are charging separate tickets for championship game.

This year bajaden and I are staying at Hooters Resort & Hotel for just $29 a night including free internet. Mike0476 is coming down too but only for the first weekend. Such a deal! Room and six ball games a day for only $54. Can't beat that. Hooters is on Tropicana as is Cox Pavilion, a 20 minute walk or a 3-minute bus ride.

Try it! You'll love it. Rub elbows with Hall of Famers between games, get up close to the players and watch the team GM's and coaches up in their section of the stands evaluating players. Las Vegas showgirls add some spice from time to time as well.

See ya there. Wear your Kings T's. ;)

Hey Cruzdude-

Is there a schedule posted anywhere yet? I might come by for a day or two but want to make sure there is a scheduled Kings game then.

You forgot to mention the German Beer Hall!!!!!

You forgot to mention the German Beer Hall!!!!!

Ahhh, yes, er, Achtung! Thomas & Mack is across the street and 2 blocks from the Hofbrauhaus, a mini version of the world famous beer hall in Munich. A super fun place to visit with German UmmPah bands, liters of german beer, drinking songs, big fun.

As some of you might know, I live in Vegas and I'm a photographer. Is there a possibility that I can apply a photographer credential via Kingsfans.com?

I can't go for the entire time, but I think I will go for at least half of it. The last half. Hooters, hmmmm. Well for the price, I guess I could stay there. ;) Did you get that rate by contacting Hooters directly or online somewhere?

I just noticed they give the AARP discount. Which I qualify for, but have not joined:)

Hooters and AARP, that does not jibe in my mind.........maybe I'm out of touch:confused:

I generally coordinate the credentials for our KF reps. We can discuss this via PMs. The media info from the league hasn't come out yet.

An easy link direct to the $29 rate is here:

Hooters isn't bad. A good 3-star, smaller casino but huge pool area. A 20-min walk to Thomas&Mack or a 3-4 min buss ride. If I have to drive poor old bajaden every day you can ride with us and add some class to our group. ;)

There are other choices:

Who are you calling old, Mr. Gimpy!!!... Hey, your not going to catch me walking to Thomas&Mack again. I almost died last time.

SUMMER LEAGUE SCHEDULE NOW OUT, SORT OF....

The Kings Summer League team will play its first 3 games in Las Vegas on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday the 13th, 15th and 16th of July. All teams will play 3 scheduled games this year then play at least 2 more games in a single-elimination tournament format beginning on Wednesday, July 17.

Full details are in this link: http://www.nba.com/kings/news/kings-play-2013-nba-summer-league-las-vegas

CruzDude and bajaden will arrive most likely monday to catch games 2 and 3 then plan to stay for games 4 and 5. We have a super cheap deal at Hooters on Tropicana, the same street on which is Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack. A 3-4 minute bus ride or 20 minute walk. And Hooters has no resort fee, typically $18-$20 a day extra as do all the Strip Hotels. Hope to see more of you there. Go Kings!! :D

The Kings Summer League Roster came out today, Wed 7/3 and there's a bunch I've never heard of. But as I said in another thread:

"One way to cut out the squabbles and guessing on the unknown Summer League Roster is to go the Summer League in Las Vegas and watch these guys. Where else can you get 6 games a day for $25 (plus taxes and fes I'm sure) and find decent hotel rooms for under $30. Great seats for every game, in fact sit where you want to, down close in first row right behind player bench or on the 50-yard line 5 rows up, etc. Fun and great time to see all the FA's and draftees in game situations.

From Sacto the quick way is down I-5 and cut over on 58 thru Bakersfield, Tehachapi Pass, skirt around Mojave, past Edwards AFB to Barstow to pickup I-15 to Las Vegas. But the most fun and fabulous route is up and over the Sierras on I-80 to Reno and take 395 south to 58 then east to Barstow, etc. Have done both numerous times. Now its just a quick shot for me up I-15 all the way."
