Hall of Famer
Today is Friday the 13th so it might be a good idea to sit out Mike and Brad tonight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On January 13 th 2002 Kings beat Suns to improve to a 27 - 9 record at that time increasing the winning streak to 8 games. Webber lead the team with 28/13/7, pedja had 25/8/5, Bobby had 18/3/3, DC had 15/4/3. Hedo had 10/4/3 of the bench. Rodney Rogers scored 24 of the bench for the Suns. After the game he said:"They have a good combination together," Rogers said, referringto Webber and Stojakovic. "When both of them have it goinggood, it's really tough to stop them. The plays that they run, they execute them well, and it's tough to stop both of them."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings "won" on the road to improve to 14-20. Still last in the Pacific and close to the bottom of the Western conference. Losing streak is stopped at 2 but still 6 games under .500 and with injuries as well as inconsistant play - not much to smile in the Kingdom. Kings are also 1-1 on a 3 game road trip. The way thing are looking now - we are "waiting on Godot." It has gotten so bad that even watching a game which we won - becomes a "torture."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's say that there is a team out there who's leading scorer averages 19.7 pts, leading rebounder 7.8 rb, assists leader 5.6 as, block leader 0.5 bl and steals leader 0.9 st respectively, and You have to make a wild guess. How is this team doing ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
88 - 80 win can mean many things if You did not watch the game. For example -

Version A

Kings outlasted Rockets in a battle of two great defensive teams. Kings turned on defensive intensity holding the Rockets below 40% from the field and forcing 14 turnovers. The close game was decided by impecable execution by the Kings down the strech. Kings all star player Corliss Williamson was a dominant force scoring 19 points.

Version B

In a "basketball' game below the worst NBA standards between 2 teams that suck so bad - that is unbearable - the team that sucked little less escaped with a "win." Rockets lost the game but beside Rockets it was a loss for the NBA, the fans in the arena and in front of TVs, referees, comentators, coaches, ball boys, towel boys and everyone else associated with this "game" in any way.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously, the wins come so hard that we would take anything we can get - no matter how ugly it looks like. We ended up being better road team than Rockets a home team which means absolutely nothing. Kings managed for the first time in who knows how long - not to hand out the TDM award. Houston sucks so bad that none of their players was capable to torch Kings defense. The game had total of 96 rebounds. We had a nice lift from Corliss and Cisco.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hornetts are actually a solid home team with 10 - 7. We were there for the opening night and did not do well. They have a lot of young guys that will be solid players in the future. It will be fun watching C. Paul again while hoping that he has a bad game. Thing to watch: What lineup will King have considering that Pedja might not play ? How will we deal with Paul/Claxton combo. Is P.J. Brown going to have another all star performance ? How much Hart do we have to see ? Is Mason going to have some highlights ? Will R. Butler get a TDM award ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - has been owned by the rookie in the first 2 meetings. Hopefully, something changes. Also he needs to find his shot tomorow
Brad - sucking bad as of late. Maybe NOH did not figure out how to deal with him
Bonzi, SAR, Pedja - get well soon but get well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - taking to many threes as of late. His strengths are clearly somwhere else.
KT - been solid but again a team which needs KT to play hreat will never be any good.
Corliss - we need more of the last game and less of all the previous ones
Hart - why us ?
Cisco - hit some shots - let's he if he can do it again
Skinner - would be nice if he could play and RA would let him
Price - I still would like to see more of him
Sampson - whatever
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - will see how he will deal with a 20-0 run tonight
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOH - Paul might have a tripple double. Claxton will be unguardable and so will P.J. Brown. TDM favorites -Snyder, butler and J.R. Smith.

The main problem the Kings will have is the crowd. They're going to be super-hyped and if the Hornets can get out early and put some points on the board it's gonna be very tough for our guys to respond.

Is it in Baton Rouge? I heard they changed plans or somthing so it will be in Oklahoma city instead. This is what I heard from Grant the last game I think.........

ROFL!

I love your pregame reports Piksi!

TDM = David West: 32 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists
Honorable mention= Speedy Claxton: 18 pts, 4 rebs, 7 assts

Is Paul back? Thought he was out + that was another big break for us. No Artest, then no Stoudamire, then no TMac + Yao, then no Paul, and now no Francis + Hill.

It was mistakenly reported that Paul would be out during Tuesday's broadcast (local, at least), but he had actually played with the Hornets that evening.

I think his hand is put together with scotch tape and paper clips currently, which is a start, but unfortunately doesn't make his legs any slower.

Yes, it was moved to OU's campus. Bon Jovi is playing at the Ford Center in OK city. I just got my refund for my ticket. I was very much looking forward to seeing them play. It stinks.

Can you use the ticket to see Bon Jovi?

I like Bon Jovi. And last I heard it's still the same band. I don't think they've traded away any band members to get rid of huge contracts or allow for more flexibility or anything...

I would LOVE to do that. Unfortunately, my ticket was for here in Baton Rouge.

Uhmm . . . Note to self, when something has proven to be successful, DO NOT SCRAP THE WHOLE THING!!! Let's see - Bon Jovi kept it together and is still selling out stadiums. Van Halen gets rid of LEAD singer and plays county fairs. Coincidence ...?

OK, I told myself I would no go there. Low Blow.

He was supposed to miss at least a couple of weeks with ruptured ligament in his thumb on his shooting hand. He missed one game against Atlanta and was back to face Detroit. He will definetly player.

What a player he is going to be.

Heheheheh.

Thank you, dear chelle. I desperately needed SOMETHING to laugh about.

Ruptured ligament in thumb = one game out

Bruised pinky = ...

Never mind.

I liked what Tank said last night on KingsTalk. He called Chris Paul "Iron Man" since hes playing with a pretty painful injury.

Fair call.

I have never been as excited about a player since #32 was running a point in LA in his rookie year

You know it will be a sad day when Piksi says:

Sampson - Usually I say whatever but everyone has been so terrible that I want to see more.

If RA has any sense( Okay, maybe not) he should play my favorite Kings player more, that would be Price. Althought a rookie he could have be much more help than Hart if he had gotten Hart's minutes. RA must be seeing something the rest of us are not.

If his injury is, in fact, that bad then he should NOT be playing. It's up to the players. They can bench themselves at any time for injury.

Peja is a professional athlete. The most important tool of his trade is his body. If it's broken, he should get it fixed and not risk breaking it further.

back injuries are nagging and can sideline a player for weeks at a time. pinky injuries are something else entirely...

I think we take this game and end 2-1 on this road trip.

One note NOK is 10-7 at home and we are 9-12 on the road. Should be close as long as we don't fold in the 4th :)

I thought that we were 5/9 on the road

Tell it to Marcus Camby.

Sure thing, I'll tell it to the guy with a BROKEN finger.

Peja was a wuss with the pinky and I think let his teammates down at a critical point. May now even be being a wuss with the back. But the back at least CAN be something quite serious and uncomfortable. He doesn't HAVE to be being a wuss about this.

Sprained pinky is just pain. Huge percentage of basketball players sprain a finger at some point during a season. Definition of a wuss would be somebody unable or willing to play through said pain. Back though...that's a tad exotic, a tad dangerous, and can be debilitating. And whether it be the back or just incompetence, if 3pts is all Peja can muster then he is not helping so might as well just shut it down and try to get healthy.

I can only imagine how long Peja would have been out for if this happened to him. Compare a torn ligament to a sprained pinky.

I can't believe we're arguing about this since we're not doctors and Peja should be given the benefit of the doubt anyway. But Camby's finger started as a sprain, for which he missed three games or something, then he ended up breaking it and required surgery. From my completely limited and uneducated understanding with these things, a sprain can leave a finger vulnerable since the ligaments that hold things together are messed up. I'd say Camby might differ with you that a sprain is "just pain."

And yes, shame on Peja for trying to play through pain with a bad back when he only scored 3 points. And shame on Peja for not trying to play through pain with a bad pinky even though he might have only scored 3 points. No double standard at all, folks!

P.S. If you don't believe me, believe webmd:

"Given adequate time and rest, most sprained joints or strained muscles will heal themselves. But severe tearing or complete rupture of the affected tissues usually requires surgical repair. And damage caused by a sprain can leave the bones in the affected joint improperly aligned, or the ligaments so stretched and weakened that the joint is particularly vulnerable to future injury. "
