piksi

Hall of Famer
Making crappy teams happy all season long.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 16th 2001 Kings won in Philadelphia 100-79 to improve to 44-20 for the season. Kings shot the ball well and won the 1st quarter by 16 and never looked back. Kings were once again lead by Webber who had 26/11/5, Pedja had 19/4/7/2, DC had 14/3/3 and JWill had 11/6/3. Pollard came off the bench with 10/9/5bl.

Hold those MVP ballots. Chris Webber and the Sacramento Kings had something to say. Led by an outstanding performance by Webber, the Kings kept Allen Iverson in check and roared to a 100-79 victory over the league-leading Philadelphia 76ers, who had a six-game winning streak snapped.

We executed well, that's the biggest part about it," Webber said. "When you execute, you give yourself a chance to win, and[/font] that's what we did. We just wanted to come inhere and get a win. We feel we're one of the best in the league also."

They are the best team in the league, so to come in here and win like this is good," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We showed some good patience, we didn't want to get out and run. We wanted them to walk up the other end of the court. It was just a solid game. A solid win for us through and through."

"They have such good ballhandlers that when you try to trap them, there 4 and their 5 guy can bring the ball up," McKie said. "You can't get behind on a team like that."

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings managed to build on the losing streak by losing their 4th straight after a 4 game winning streak. Kings also got swept in their first back to back set on this trip. Total record is 28-36 which is still one game out of the 8th spot which is hardly something Kings earned and it is just product of many sucky teams that are stuck in the Western conference. Next set of back to backs is coming up and our only way to win a game is to count on the theory of big numbers because other than that we don't have much going for us in Miami and Orlando. At least - Kings will have a good time off the court in South Florida.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
If You really want to watch good NBA basketball - You would probably miss most of the Kings games. There was a great game last night going on in Dallas. It was fun to watch. I was rooting for the Suns because I can't stand the Mavs and from my point of view - it was a happy ending. Since one of those 2 teams will win be the first seed - I really don't see the point of any team being the 8th seed because most likely - it would be a very short series. Of all potential 1 vs 8 matchups - the only one that would have a chance going past 5 games is the Mavs vs Warriors series. Any other combination - 5 games most and 4 games very likely. 2 round in the West will be "sick"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT is hurt at least for a game or so. Never good when anyone is injured but is he going to be missed - You tell me. He isn't giving us anything to begin with so basically we are only one "short" body down. What You will be missing to watch are missed layups, turnovers, bad shots, no defense and poor rebounding. Having to watch KT going against Shaq, Zo, Haslem and even Doleac tomorrow night and then going against Howard and Milicic on Saturday night - is actually "must not see" TV. I still hope that he will be back soon before we have Kevin playing PF or something. On the downside KT will miss some exciting power point presentation and some tasty kool aids.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In 3 games since Ron was allowed to return Kings are nothing and 3. Not what I expected. I figured with Artest - Kings would make a strong push to even catch the Lakers. I was wrong. Only predictable thing about Kings these days is their unpredictability. You can't even predict the flavor and the effect of the Kool aid. No, Ron isn't the one that is responsible for those 3 losses. The blame should be shared by everyone in the organization. 18 more games to suffer and ask Yourself - why the hell do I need all of this ? No need to rush answering this question because You will have the whole summer to do it and yes - it will be a looooooong summer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several coaching changes this season and several probably coming up before the next season starts. Kings desperately need a coach too. A real coach. Right now we have a wizard of Oz character in charge and I will let You pick any one of them. Not only does he need assistant coaches but he also need a tech support and an alchemist just for the half time breaks. The way - things are going especially after the break - soon we will need an exorcist too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner tonight is sponsore by "Omen","Friday the 13th" and "Exorcist" - Muss yet again did so many things wrong starting back to the point where he applied for this job in the first place. The usual 3rd quarter performance and the stupidity and confusion down the stretch have Muss written all over it. Despite the fact that Bobcats shot 60% from 3 - Muss kept playing zone. Subs always at the wrong time and the wrong players too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Kings are still winless in Charlotte despite Okafor's absence and despite improving defensively as they secured points allowed from 124 against the Cavs to 111 last night. We out shot them, and were +14 from the line and we didn't win yet again. The experience down the stretch didn't help us whatsoever. 3rd quarter - classic. Last minute of the game = text book almost win. All in all - the usual.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM was a hard decision for me because of a tough competition. Toughest ever. 5 guys were equally good but I went with Walter Herrmann mosrly because I wasn't even aware that he plays in the NBA. He had a perfect game. May, Voskuhl, Carroll and Anderson would have deserved it too.

LW-VC award goes to Adam Morrison. He just couldn't find any rhythm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat are next and we haven't beaten them in a long time and that might not change for a long time. Heat have an old team and it will be a back to back for them. That is pretty much our only hope. Wade's absence is a fair handicap since we aren't any good to begin with. Heat have won 9 in a row or so. Best strategy is to usse all 72 fouls to put Shaq on the line. Muss could actually come up with that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - vs JWill - always fun
Ron - stop guaranteeing. You can't even guarantee not to be in jail day in and day out. Should have been meteorologist.
Brad - good luck and god bless
Kevin - Posey's number was 41 or so
--------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor - pina colada.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat are old and that really means nothing because we can look old with the best of them. Shaq will abuse our frontline and Haslem and Zo will too. JWill will play fine and also expect old hacks like Payton and walker to feel it. TDM will go to Haslem. LW-VC award is reserved for a Kings big man. I have a feeling - we will win this one.

The one GOOD thing about this season is that piksi has truly developed a knack for giving us all something to look forward to before each game.

piksi - This one's for you!!

Kleiza just set a new career high against the lakers

Life is good

Well, I certainly hope he remembers who deserves the credit for giving him his FIRST real break-out game. Maybe he'll thank us when he retires.

;)

In any other season with any other Kings squad I would highlight and double underline that. There is no more "gimme" game you could have against the Heat at this point of the season. They are ancient, decrepit, leaning on a decrepit overweight pivot, playing on a back to back.

The worst, well...one of the worst parts of our miserableness is the degree to which our team has finally been handed all kinds of luck right on a platter this year. After all those years of crap luck, the shoe has been on the other foot and we have been completely pathetic at taking advantage. We have 28 wins, and we don't even deserve half the ones we have. Seems every game we play the other team is missing a main cog, and other than a smattering of misses for Ron and Brad, which may not even be a bad thing, we have been healthy. And yet we blow the games again and agian and again. Which really raises the question of just how bad we are. If we barely beat, and often do not beat, teams missing Michael Redd, Chris Paul, Lamar Odom, LeBron James, Emeka Okafor etc. etc. on a nightly basis, how mcuh better are those teams than us when everybody is healthy?

Adn so here again -- a Heat team primed for a decent team to sneak up on them. Oldest team in the league. On a back to back. Missing one of the game's brightest stars. And yet it means nothing. You have no idea how we'll play. Good, bad or indifferent. And how we play will make no difference how we'll play the next one after that. An "impressive" win over the old crippled squad will mean nothing. Another blowout loss will mean nothing. It all means nothing, and all the normal rational attempts to analyze key factors etc. are borderline pointless. TDOS stands for "The Dreaded Offseason". That needs to be changed to TEAOS this year. The Eagerly Anticipated Offseason. Let's just get this crap over with already. About the only thing I'm going to miss about no more Kings games this year is Piksi's game threads.

I have felt this way for a long time now, just never wanted to admit it. I really hope TEASO brings us something to look forward to. Maybe a team with some heart (and no I don't mean Jason Heart).

Even with Miami playing back-to-back, we're going to get demolished on the boards. Kenny Thomas is our best rebounder. A night out on the town in Miami for the Kings makes up for a back-to-back for. Miami. I wonder if the Kings could outrebound this team if Miami played back-to-back-to-back. With the center not holding, things will fall apart. Expect a zone to prevent Miller getting stepped on by Shaq and/or Mourning; then witness numerous offensive rebounds because of the zone. Only two items of interest for me: (1) will Martin have the temerity to drive against Shaq and Zoe, or will he float and hoist 3-pointers? (2) will we be one step closer to Petrie waving the white flag and giving Cisco, Douby, Price and Williams 30 minutes a game?

we're going to see s.a.r with the start tonight. corliss and williams will get big minutes. rebounding is about position. if rodman can get 17 boards a game im sure all our big men can get.....WHO AM I KIDDING. our front court couldnt average 17 boards a game alltogether.

Justin averages 18.8 rebounds per 48. Of course, everyone has to decide for themselves whether the rebounds make it worth listening to the screams of torment when he goes to the FT line.

I'd rather scream with torment at Justin's free throws with the rebounds, blocks, and height than scream with torment at Kenny's free throws without the blocks and height.

williams' freethrows dont bother me. thomas bothers me. is he even leading the team in rebounding? if so its only 6 a game. pathetic. this is a man that cant do anything. shoot, dribble, pass, baby hooks, you name it. i'd rather see williams. at least we'll know he'll get some blocks

Just for entertainment value...

Rebounds per 48
Justin: 18.8
KT: 12.9
Brad: 11.0
SAR: 9.5
Ron: 8.5
Corliss: 7.8

Blocks per 48
Justin: 2.59
Cisco: 1.42
Brad: 0.96
SAR: 0.95
Ron: 0.83
rest: mateen
(KT: 0.57)

Justin also has the highest FG% on the team, and second highest points-per-shot (just a hair behind Kevin) despite his wretched FT shooting. So he may have a lot to learn, but those numbers go a ways towards justifying more minutes.

Hmm... Maybe JW will make it in the game! Then his first turnover Musselman will sit him on the bench and stick him in the doghouse for the rest of the season.
