The “earn” playing time thing, although accepted by many, is not typical of rebuilding teams.

Young quality prospects earn playing time on lottery teams for breathing free air

And if they represent the bulk of your teams talent pool then even losses don't hurt as much because you are gaining more insight to what they need to become and what they can become while they are also building trade value. Losses are par for the course, bad play, and limited minutes that lead to limited productivity will make it extremely hard to shape this team from a management level into something that makes any sense at all. Right now the focus can't entirely be on shaping the young players skill sets. It's balancing act between that and shaping the roster. It's hard to say but the Nets even have a clearer picture with their roster than the Kings do. They traded for Russell and show what a difference it is when you give someone the ball to run with instead of setting up hurdles like the Lakers did. The Lakers and Kings are two examples of taking an easy thing and making it really hard.

She said coach said when Skal doesn't play, it's probably because of the defensive matchups. When teams play small, Skal is forced to guard SFs, and he struggles really bad against them. She implies that Skal struggles against perimeter players. She points to the Sixers game where he was matched up with Covington. There was 1 possession where he fouled Covington on a 3pt attempt. In the game after, he also struggled to guard Porzingis(everyhwere). There was also another play where he fouled Porzingis on a 3pt attempt.

In fairness....Skal can't guard anyone lol. I can see the logic behind what Joerger is saying though. The only position he could play when teams go small is C. However, at C, he becomes an even bigger liability. Can't block shots, rebound, defend post ups, etc. With that being said, I think we need Skal to get as many minutes as possible.

I hesitate to make any comments about the prospects for this team in the future certainly not based upon the limited number of games so far this year. But this game is like staring at a black hole; there is no bright spot.

I refuse to believe our players are this bad offensively.. We have legit solid offensive weapons to score a decent amount, win or lose.

This system is a joke. It just is hard to watch. Idc if we lose but watching the players get worse and hesitant all game long and a bunch of outdated post up isos is irritating.

Coacch Joerger and the the Kings should be forced to put out a public apology after this embarrassment. I’m talking full press conference, official statement kind of stuff. There really is no excuse for a game like tonight other then lack of preparation, execution and effort. All parties are to blame. I can accept we are a bad team, I cannot accept we are a lose by 40 to the Hawks bad.
