Kings extend offer to Chuck Hayes - 4 yr $20 mil

If this is true SWEET!. I don't mind having a banger like him around, and if it doesn't work out that is a moveable contract.

Edit-Just saw it posted officially by @SpearsNBAYahoo. Hayes is a King.

I've come to terms with this and am fully on board. Chandler was my ideal option, but at 1/3 the price, and 1/2 the likely price of Dalembert, Hayes aint bad.

A big shot blocking center isn't out of the picture because of the Hayes signing. The Kings still have cap space and some pieces to trade (like J.J. "amare potential" Hickson.)

Good god, watch the frontline size dominance the team had evaporate. With JJ and now Hayes added to the roster, it looks like JT is gone as well. Enraged that they let the opportunity to impose a physical size dominance over other teams get away.

That doesn't make sense. Jason Thompson is better than Hickson.

There's some guy on the roster named Whiteside who some of us wanted to take with the Demarcus pick because of his shotblocking.

Current front court depth chart:

PF: Thompson, Hickson, Hayes
C: Cousins, Whiteside

With injuries, there is a lot of playing time for all. I'd say Dalembert is 50/50 at this point?

They got smaller.

Jason Thompson is better than Hickson, so why is he in danger and not Hickson?

My point was that they probably won't keep JT, having heard nothing of an extension or their intention to make the QO.

I said before, about this trade, that it puts Hickson in danger because he was the mobile PF whose job it would have been to chase guys like Blake Griffin around. Chuck Hayes is the best player in the NBA for that role, so clearly, Hickson is the one left without a role. Jason Thompson still has a spot for him at the center position.

JT is undersized at C. Neither him nor Cousins can play full time C IMO. They were beating on teams with the 3-man frontline rotation late in the season with Cousins, Dally, and JT. With JT probably gone, and Dally gone, that leaves JJ, Hayes, and Cousins, which is considerably smaller.

They think J.J. Hickson is better than him.

Even if he is, where has anyone read anything that says we are shopping JT, or that he is being traded...There is just nothing behind it whatsoever.

Hickson and JT are both RFA next offseason. If anything, Hayes is a safety net if we decide to sign and trade one of them or let one of them walk. But nothing has come out that says JT is gone right now because we have Hayes.

This. Just because the Thunder drafted a bunch of big men and traded for big men didn;'t mean that they had to get rid of Collison

Because they bring in players at his position, and because he's in the last year of his contract, and there's been no talk of an extension. You do the math.

Important to mention that Hickson is also in the last year of his deal.

He is in the exact same boat as Hickson, and a ton of other potential RFA's.

DeAndre Jordan didn't get an extension with Kaman and Griffin on the roster. I think the Clippers want to keep him.

And I have no problem trading JT or Hickson, I'm just saying .. its a stretch to say this means Thompson is out THIS season without any talk of that from anyone.

Adding Chuck Hayes does not mean that JT or JJ are out, especially if Dalembert is not re-singed.

That's four players for two positions and about perfect front court depth with Whiteside as the fifth.

Hickson/Hayes
Cousins/Thompson/Whiteside
