The Game Thread Dude
A brief aside from your humble writer:
Whew. Hey guys, it's been a while. Sorry for the lack of game threads over the past couple of weeks. Without turning this into a post about my other creative endeavors and stuff, I'll just say that I've had and still have a ton of other things going on that also require my attention. But hey, life goes on and I'll be here writing about Kings basketball or something semi-related to that whenever my increasingly busy schedule allows me to. That said, it would be nice if I had a back up or two willing to chip in and help out whenever things get too hectic for me to write stuff. Please, if you are at all interested in getting a little writing experience or simply having a forum to air your various grievances, let me or our illustrious forum mother (VF21) know either through a PM or a post here. Thanks for your patience and now on with the show!

I post this only because Kris Humpries may have the derpiest expression ever captured in the course of an NBA game.

R.I.P. Marcus Thornton Era (2010-2014)

Pouty Face
And thus begins the post-Marcus Thornton era of the Sacramento Kings. Dark, dark times are upon us folks. Without the reflection of the arena lights from Marcus's increasingly hair follicle deficient head, Arco Arena is now officially 50% darker. (I can make jokes about MT going bald since it's happening to me too, so there!)

And in his place? A guy who'll spend the rest of the season in Dallas rehabbing his aging body and a guy who may or may not just be Quincy Acy with a headband. But don't get so down, Kings fans. I'm pretty sure an egg just hatched in Reggie Evans's beard.

I can remember hating Reggie Evans since just about the first time he played against the Kings. An undersized, under-talented big dude, the man just didn't seem to be very good at anything aside from being mean and angry at the world. That said, the dude could still rebound with the best of them, mainly because the other team is so scared of him that they usually just high-tail it in the opposite direction. And now he's on the Kings.

Reggie Evans also plays defense with his feet.

The thing is that the Kings pretty much already had Reggie Evans on the roster before they even picked up Reggie Evans. Quincy Acy is undersized, has a beard, and generally seems pretty angry at the world. All that he's missing is the headband and complete and total lack of an offensive game (Acy's shown at least a moderately acceptable jumpshot and is fairly athletic in the paint).

Meanwhile, Jason Terry would have been an absolutely fantastic piece for this team... ten years ago. Now that he's old and broken, he can mainly serve as a mentor to our young guys. Or I should say, that will be his role if/when he ever actually joins the team.

But at the very least we lost Marcus Thornton and Geoff Petrie's fantastically oversized contract for him. Farewell Bayou Bomber, I'll miss your ever present pouty face...

Game Recap-ramento
The Kings are officially 1-0 in the Post-MT Era! It's time to throw a party! I want to say that that was a good game of basketball but anyone with eyes can tell you that it wasn't. That said, it was still relatively fun to watch.

Ty Lawson is unlikely to play which means Randy Foye and former Kings Aaron Brooks will play the point, Denver got murdered by the Bulls, Noah and Gibson trashed the undersized frontline of the Nugs (outside Mozgov). The only two dangerous players imo are Wilson Chandler and Foye the rest of them are not much tbh, if you actually put a body on Hickson/Faired they are completely useless and all there other tweeners/SF's are not really threats like Quincy Miller and ARandolph the only other guy who can score a bit is Founrier.

Alright. I seem to have suddenly gotten the flu so the rest will not be able to be completed. I'm sorry.

You are a real let down. ;)

Get well. Flu not only sucks but it blows. There have been several deaths in the Sacramento area because of it. It's not a joke, is it?

This - it is pretty serious this year with over 275 deaths from the flu in California.

Nothing as bad as the events covered in the book "The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History" (good book overall, highly recommended) but still pretty serious.

At least Medicare provides flu shots for people my age. I will bet the 275 deaths were mainly the elderly and there is no excuse for not getting a shot. Well, there ARE excuses but trusting to luck is not wise.

Now, Tetsu-san, being a young and virile male, is probably safe from the most extreme of results.

I won't get flu shots. Every time I have gotten one, I got the worst case of the flu shortly after ( and got the flu at least once or twice more the next 6 months.

I've had two people close to me be perfectly healthy before getting a flu shot, then have nightmare health situations following getting the shot. Some of the stuff in flu shots is quite scary, actually. A family friend who's an MD won't let anyone in his family, wife or kids get a flu shot or a number of vaccinations and that is shared by a few of his friends, also MD's. The reasons why are eye-opening and backed by studies but probably are for another discussion at a different time.

The Denver PA announcer sounds like his regular job is announcing arrivals/departures at the bus station.

I'll be interested in seeing if Boogie plays. I am sure the answer is "yes" but he is injured.

Wait... Does cuz not have 2 fouls? Otherwise why is he not on the bench?
Guess he is just gonna play safe on d.

I am worried about his hip injury which he said slowed him down yesterday. I know he can play. I don't want him to worsen his injury.

One area where Ben all year has been good has been setting picks to get Cousins open in that motion post up play and when he catches comes off the screen he noramlly always hits the roller nice. He's got decent feel for that aspect of basketball.
