[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (Redux)

Extremely underwhelming stats since the trade for Fox. I added it up, it's 14-48 on threes. And his team is losing.

I think on the Kings it might have been a case of Good Player on a Bad Team (even though were were getting better than bad) that inflated Fox's ego and stats. Good for him, whatever, but we definitely got the better end of this trade even if it was Lavine for Fox straight up. Lavine is trending up, Fox trending down. Now Wemby is out for the year so Spurs will enter tank mode. Hope he enjoys the extension. And always playing second fiddle.

Did you watch even a minute of the Kings only playoff series in the last 19 years? If you did I don't see how you can justify making this statement.

There's not enough copium on this planet to get me to fall in line with Vinny's take but the issue with Fox is he can do what he does for small bursts then he disappears.

The only question I have now is was what we just saw Zach do a once in five or six games type of thing or are he and Domas learning to play together and will we have an effective & efficient offense over the next few years.

Yeah. Spurs fans seem to think Fox getting that surgery will change everything but the truth is, he’ll still be somewhat of a big tease. He has all the tools in the world to be a beast each night, but he’s just not as consistent as some of the other stars. The 2022-23 season was lightening in a bottle, or a beam in a bottle idk.

Bottom line, history basically proves out statistically that LaVine and Fox at their best are roughly the same level. Maybe not a 1A guy, but they can be for stretches.
My concern about Zach beyond how often can he do what he did - and he was having a great season before the trade, on the offensive side better than we've ever had with Fox to the best of my knowledge - is that we're forced into starting three guys who all fit the bill of "traditional SG" in the old NBA. Sure, Monk can handle the ball, and DDR can play the 3. But to start them and have them play the bulk of their minutes together gives me some pause vs. getting Keon in with two of them, or having a two-way playmaking guard on the floor with Zach.

Of course if Brown never went to Monk in the starting lineup we might be able to see what those things might look like.

I do think we may be looking at a painful trade again this offseason. Although if DeMar goes to a win-now type team and it doesn't bother Zach, and we get some future capital I wouldn't mind that. Especially if we can keep LaRavia somehow and get a good look at what a Keegan-LaRavia-Domas front court pairing looks like with various combos of Carter, Monk, Zach, Keon and Fultz if he sticks around.

He should get the surgery but the surgery isn't going to change the mental lapses that have plagued him over the years. It won't change his attitude issues if Castle becomes the star of the backcourt. And it probably won't get him a better whistle unless the Spurs become the IT team, which has a lot more to do with Wemby than Fox. Incidentally if Fox to Spurs is part of a longer game by Paul to represent Wemby before he signs a super max down the road, you have to wonder if Wemby will be a Admiral/Duncan Spur-for-life story.

It's an issue long term for sure, but time will prove all that out. Maybe the mix is off. Injuries aside LaVine is a pretty proof positive talent in the ways he plays and any bet should be on it being proven out that if it's a battle of talent vs. need LaVine is winning whatever battle between the purely offense guys at his position. LaVine and Domas being the playmakers they are might be the key to making Ellis and Carter rotation staples if not starters at some point. Hopefully so.

I guess at some point in comparing Fox and Zach you take into consideration Zach's injury history but when you compare it to a game Fox is checked out you probably have to ask the question are you better off missing your star player or having your star player on the court but checked out.

It's kind of the case where the former allows a player like Keon to step up and shine in an absence whereas a guy who is loafing still demands the court time and you get the finish to the Detroit game.

It's valid to consider which is ultimately more detrimental to the success. Because Fox was good Fox in the playoffs while you definitely don't want a star out for a series. It's just a matter of actually playing in the post-season at all.

You sure? I can hook you up with my source bro. :D:)

Sean Cunningham said we should buckle up in regards to chaos within the organization. Basically said a lot more went on in the past several months than the public knows about. I’ll skip any further paraphrasing but it was in the latest kings beat podcast. I’m reading between the lines but I’d assume Monte is gone unless we make the playoffs. Ugh. I want to see what Monte can do with a normal amount of assets. If you want to let to hold off on extension talks until after the next season, fine. Let him finish the deal and re-evaluate.

That would be pretty stupid unless these aren't even his moves. They may very well not be who knows. This could be a case of Monte vs. the Doug Christie contingent whoever that is. I just find it odd the Domas stuff comes out right now, my guess is that would be a big part of the chaos.

These guys all have one source right now. Could be Monte or it could be Doug that is gone without the playoffs. Could be some of the assistants that were set to be fired before Brown was let go. It really doesn't matter when you look at where the team was following the Detroit game to where they are today. IF we can keep the same momentum and good vibes. I'd love to see this squad get a full year with whatever reasonable off season moves are made. I do feel like everything that we did after locking in Domas was centered around Fox's extension and I think we saw the moves Monte made once we moved on show that he has a pretty good gauge of talent and team needs now that the Fox situation is permanently resolved.
