Welcome, fellow Kings fans, to the rest of our lives!

Talk about turning over a new leaf...

In case we have new members to the board reading this, I'll take a minute to explain what this thread is and why we do it...

We have a number of members who, for whatever reason, cannot view the game or follow them via audio. So, for them, I - the resident Kings homer - provide an ongoing play-by-play of the game. It's all my interpretation, based on what I'm watching. Sometimes it might not agree with the broadcast; I tell em like I see them and there have been occasions where I truly wonder if Grant Napear and I are actually watching the same game. ;)

I'll make an occasional error but I do the best I can to give you a true representation of the game. I try not to be biased but I AM a Kings fan.

This is NOT an interactive thread. It is pretty much read-only. We do have other options available, however, in case you do want to follow the game and discuss it with other Kings fans.

First, there is the ongoing discussion thread started by our resident pessimist, founder of piksimism, piksi. Even if you don't want to participate in the discussion, make sure you read his opening post. It's always worth a few minutes of your time.

In addition to the PBP and the game discussion thread, we have Mr. S£im's CHAT PARTY LIVE. Hosted at mIRC, it's on server irc.bludgeon.org. The channel # is Kingsfans.

We're a friendly group here. If you're new, please take a moment to read the tips for posting that are stickied at the top of the Kings forum.

Everything here at Kingsfans.com is possible because of the dedication and generosity of our board owner - aka Grand Poobah - Jeremy. If you would like to help defray some of the costs of keeping Kingsfans.com as the #1 Sacramento Kings Internet Community, then please take a moment and consider becoming a Contributing Member. You're under no obligation, of course. Contributing members get nifty custom titles, larger avatars and some other nice little perks. Whether you become a CM or not, we just hope you enjoy your time here at KF.

I've got coffee brewing. It's COLD outside and I've got a fire going in the woodstove. It's trying very hard to snow right now. I'm guessing I'm right at the snow level, because it keeps alternating between rain and light snow.

An official welcome to Ron Artest. His career as a Sacramento King will most likely start tonight. I hope it's a productive one for both him and our team.

GO KINGS!!!

So since it looks like Ron will paly tonight what will VF21 call him? Ron? Artest? The Nut? NB? inquiring minds want to know!

They just showed Artest warming up in Kings purple. As I said in another thread, thank goodness it's not gold...

;)

He'll be Ron or Artest or perhaps 93...depends on how much is happening and how fast my fingers are going.

I give him the respect due all players who wear the uniform of the Sacramento Kings.

:D

Thanks, STK4L...glad to be able to help. If you have satellite or cable, check to see if you can get the game via NBA League Pass. It's free this week.

Just a reminder. Once the game gets started, this isn't an interactive thread. It's a one-person narrative.

Interesting fact:

Mike Bibby 79 points in the last two games. Last time a Kings player did that well it was Tiny Archibald.

And will he get player of the week? Of course not. Anybody who thinks he'll beat out Kobe - I can get 81 points in ONE game - Bryant just hasn't been paying attention.

Mixed feelings about it... Mike's performance has been in the face of much more difficulty IMHO but I don't make the selections and I could - brace yourselves - be wrong.

;)

Commerical and then to Boston.

For the first time in a long time...I'm EXCITED for a game to start!

DAMN feeels good...hope it last!

Olowakandi warming up for the Celtics; Artest doing the same for the Kings.

REMINDER: This isn't a discussion thread. ;) It's okay now, but once the game starts please use the game discussion thread. Thanks all... and G_M, you're not the only one. I've got "I'm So Excited" on a loop playing on my media player right now.

Lineup for the Kings: Bibby, Martin, Artest, KT and Miller

Lineup for the Celtics: Not yet announced

I'm taping this game. If you're a long-time Kings fan, you might want to do the same.

;)

Artest gets a nice round of boos from the Boston crowd as he's announced...

I wouldn't have expected anything else.

;)

Lineup for the Celtics: West, Allen, Pierce, Raef and Kendrick Perkins at the 5.

Wally and Kandi in uniform for the Celtics...

Both teams taking the court.

Ron and Pierce give the customary man hugs on the court.

Ron, Kenny and Brad talking strategy ... gesturing about who will go where, etc.

This is gonna be interesting, to say the least...

Kings steal. Bibby feeds inside to KT, who misses a lay-up.

Celtics miss; Kings board.

HARD foul by Raef on Martin. Kevin, as usual, hits the floor hard and bounces right back up.

Martin makes first; and second.

13-8 KINGS

Pierce tries to go inside, misses. Kings board.

Bibby pass inside to Miller is too high. Celtics ball.

Pierce for two.

13-10 KINGS

Kings ball.

Time out and commercial.

5:23 left

For whatever it's worth, Ron Artest has obviously kept himself in condition. If he can develop an outside shot, watch out Pacific Division.

This is fun...

Kings ball. Whoa.

Artest totally fakes Pierce out of his shoes and gets another jumper.

15-10 KINGS

Jefferson for two.

15-12 KINGS

Kings ball. Artest takes a breather; Cisco in. Joe and Gavin with BIG grins on their faces.

Bibby miss; Celtics ball.

4:24 left

Nice move by Miller, inside with one-armed dunk with authority. Unfortunately, there was a whistle.

Pierce schools Garcia and gets the spin lay-up to go.

22-17 BOS

Miller working on Perkins, draws the foul.

Time out and commercial.

Miller to the line for two after the break.

To bad that NBA league pass is using the Boston feed. Still, did you hear Tommy Heinsohn mocking Artest--"Artest is saying that they 'love him!'"
