[Game] Kings @ Celtics - 2/7/16 - 10 PT, 1 ET

I keep watching the Boston guards blow past our guards into the paint and its either a shot or a pass when Cuz has to go challenge. Shouldn't there be some disgust with our guards or is it just going to be directed at a certain individual?

If Sullinger sets a a solid screen and the ballhandler uses it properly (ie brushes shoulders with Sullinger) there is no way our guard is going to get over that screen and stay in the play. Pick and roll defense is a team defense -- it's not always the guard's fault when the ballhandler gets by their man. The big needs to step up long enough for the defending guard to chase and recover. We have just as much trouble stepping up on the ballhandler in those situations as we do closing out on shooters. The communication is terrible all around.

Cousins should take notes from Sullinger. Quick mid range jumpers when he has space, fast decisions instead of delayed, predictable drop steps, etc. He needs to be faster and more decisive and add some simple yet effective moves.

Today hasn't changed my mind about George Karl. This roster can't win using his offensive and defensive concepts.

It's why trading Carmelo improved the Nuggets, because Karl needs his type of players to run his system. He can't adapt to his roster.

But maybe I'm just frustrated by watching such terrible basketball but I'm starting to think you can't win with Demarcus Cousins either. At least not if he's your best player.

When things go wrong he gives up. That's mental weakness and as otherworldly talented as he is it happens way too often.

Not really. If you don't play your man and stand in the passing lanes you're going to get steals. Rondo is sieve on defense. There is no comparison between Rondo and Curry on D. Curry actually pressures his man; Rondo puts up no resistance. He's a joke on defense.
You're being kind of hard on Rondo. He's pretty active today.

Look I'm not defending anyone, but its possible that Grant doesn't know what transpired between the officials and Cuz. He did mention it, but that's it. We start to start looking at the reality of this team instead of making excuses for them. Cuz, for whatever reason hasn't shown up for this game, and that's after saying that there are bigger problems with this team than effort and hustle. Something is going on, and it's translating to the court. I can only comment on what I see, and what I see isn't good. How about all the players on the court have some pride.

Let me ask you something. When Sullinger was under the basket with the ball, surrounded by three King's players, and he threw up a wild shot over his head as he was falling down, does anyone think he was fouled? Your damm right he was, but there was no call. Did he ***** about it? No. I'm sick and tired of the constant bitching and moaning. Just go out there and play the damm game. Life isn't always fair.

I'm not going to debate Cousins with you. I am voicing my frustration (which has built up over years) with Grant Napear. The exchange happened right in front of him. He could have said more IMHO or said nothing.

I was kind of having a similar thought: Karl needs to be fired AND Boogie needs to be traded...but only for a King's ransom.

That IT guy is pretty good. Too bad we can't draft someone like that.

Don't disagree with this, but we aren't getting picked on every play either. It is a mess.

Marco is what he is. It's frustrating but he's always been a poor defender. He generally gives effort but he's just terrible defensively.

Rondo actually upsets me much more. He coasts on that end, doesn't close out, doesn't pressure guys and rarely gets called out for it. Especially since he was once a great defender. He has lost some lateral quickness due to the injury but the bigger issue is the lack of consistent effort.

Cuz and the perimeter defenders are competing for best toreadors. Tough completion. Best thing for future games s to get Cuz to play balls out defense every pla and let him continue to rest on offense or the bench. Tough job if not impossible. Any other solution seems to pale n comparison. That inside weakness on defense seems to breed all ou other problems.

This is my biggest concern.

I am not without concerns in this regard, either, but I think the whole situation is continually exacerbated by what he has dealt with. To DMC, loyalty is paramount. Karl did nothing to promote any kind of positive relationship with him at the beginning, and things have only gotten worse as time goes by.

We bring in a coach who will be supportive, fair but firm (like that guy before Corbin was), and who makes it clear he has his center's back and we'll see the DMC we all know is in there somewhere. It would also help, of course, if the head coach had a scheme in mind that properly utilized the talents of not only Cousins, but the rest of his squad.

It kills me to see IT in a Celtic uniform. The guy that was too small, too selfish, couldn't play D, had reached his ceiling at 25 years of age and would be a bit player for someone else is now an ALL STAR.

The only thing I like is that if he had to end up with a team, end up with the team that has Brad Stevens as coach - the guy I wanted as the Kings coach.

Cousins has struggled from the line recently. Did it begin with he got his shoulder extended?

I think the timing is close if not exact.

People need to look back on the games since the New Year. Cousins is trying to play through a virtual plethora of owies.

It's just going to fall on deaf ears or people will only see what they want to see.

Compromise:

Fire Karl and see what happens the rest of the season. Let Vlade bring in the guy HE wants as coach, as we all know Vlade really wants things to work with Cousins. If that doesn't work, then you address the issue of trading Cousins. But to pull the trigger on any kind of deal that sends the big guy away BEFORE we get Karl's replacement in place is just dumb.

To be clear, it is a lot of points for both teams. I wasn't making a defensive joke.

I know... hence the :p

I'm trying very hard to find the humor in all of this because it's either that or become as angry and bitter as some other Kings fans, and that's just not who I am.
