Kings bench

Sum182

G-League
K-Mart:
He played impressive on yesturday's meeting with the nuggets. He scored 14 points off the bench and 2-3 three pointers. I didnt belive that he had developed impressively until yesturdays game. At last, he looked comfortable playing.

Kenny Thomas:
On 10min he made two three point plays on the low post playing HARD down there. 3 rebounds and 1 assist. He started to be looking like he's supposed to play, like last year when he was a starter.

J-Hart:
He made 7 points (3-4), 3 ast, 2 steals. I like his speed and plays. He's starting to convince me.

The bench, till yesturday, looked awful and sloppy. Adelman always puts them starting the 2nd qtr., and they always got killed. The lead that sacramento had in the first qtr. dissapeared thanx to the bench. In yesturday's game the bench showed us (the fans) what they can do.

But, we have to see more games to see if this was just good luck or the start of a good bench.......we'll have to see.....

ps. Adelman still doesnt convince me. The only way is to show em' how to play good D...

Yea I think we got a dime in Kevin Martin. And please none of this "you can't judge him on one game" or "He tries to look good, all he cares about is looking cool". He has already proved he has an excellent work-ethic, by working on his game so much in the summer, and he's beginning to show it in games now.

I was actually at the game last night behind the Kings bench and they seemed more enthusiastic during the timeouts. I also noticed that they were rotating a lot better/faster then I have seen them in the past. They looked like they were having fun for a change.

aren't there already like 10 threads about the bench production? why not just add to them instead of starting more threads, its easier on us.

Given all the changes to the bench in the off season I expect they will take even longer than the starting 5 to become consistant, but great to see them looking better!

yeah i wanna see more than 1 game like this before im convinced. anyways, good to see it occur at least once rather than never

our bench still sucks.... we need a bobby jackson type player coming off the bench..... i dont care what position he plays but someone with a itchy trigger finger and the instincts to put points on the board or get to the basket would be nice..... house is seriously missed right about now.... and the sad thing is that hart makes way more money than house

though it wouldnt happen, i would love to trade hart and skinner to memphis for bobby jackson and jake tsakalidis.... or hart to phoenix for house...

i know that we've been down that road beforee but either one of them would definitely help our weak *** bench....

Like I've been saying, Wesley Person.

Hart for House? No here! Phoenix already have their point situation fine and set (Nash/Barbosa/Diaw, House isn't a playmaker). Hart is and will be a good back-up PG for us. The guy isn't a non-scorer either, sure House is better at scoring, but Hart brings a bunch more than House overall.

B-Jax back? I love him, but he's too unpredictable health-wise. Tsakilidis? I don't know much or seen much of him, know he's got a bunch of size, and can rebound, but that's it... I'd still rather Skinner. I'll be looking for him to get going in these next 2-3 games.

As far as our bench goes, I think now it's going to get better ultimately. Especially with our long home-stand. Only concern long-term (this season) is swingman depth.

Role players and bench players tend to play a lot better at home when the crowd is behind them. They played a great game yesterday and hopefully they can keep it up on the upcoming home stand.

Confused by seeing actual defense and longing for the old days eh?

K-Mart still has a long way to go. I want to see him grab some boards, or dish out some assists, or get couple of steals in addition to scoring points.

I'm not going to get too excited about the bench. It was one good game against a Nugget team that didn't seem to have their hearts into the game (other than Camby). They need to string a few good ones together.

I don't know what the 2nd unit will look like towards the end of the season but I am seriously NOT convinced after one decent game that they were more than overdue for. Show me. Work to convince me. One game is just not enough. For this team to be as successful as possible we need consistent contributors. This means EVERY NIGHT they have to play like they deserve to be on the court and can actually provide something and help us win. We should be able to count on them any night during the course of the 82 game season and the playoffs (if we make them) to come through. We really need to find out who we can look to that will be productive, efficient and not make to many mistakes that could cost us. Noone on that bench has proved anything to me yet. Show me night after night and I will give recognition when it is due.

In other words, you want him to be a seasoned veteran?

Kevin is only in his second year with the team. It's obvious the coaches have faith in him, or he wouldn't be playing the back-up OG position. He has grabbed rebounds, BTW, and shown he can get in there with larger players and still grab some boards. He has, in addition, broken up plays and gotten steals.

Yes, he still has a long way to go - but it's certainly looking like he's willing to put forth the effort to do it. And he DOES do basketball at home and he DOES do basketball in the summer, etc.

They have to learn to walk before they can run. It's a whole SIX games into the season. Last night was a glimmer of hope where there hadn't been much before.

I am constantly amazed at how some people act as though the NBA is easy; a cake walk...and that everyone who shows up should be able to play at an elite level immediately and every single night. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen for the Kings; it doesn't even happen for the Pistons or the Spurs.

Kevin REALLY impressed me in the game last night. His effort is always there and thats all you can really ask. One thing that has impressed me, even though he is still finding his offense is his defense. He is very active and I can see him possibly becoming a top notch defender.

It have only been a few games...if it was in the middle of the season, I can understand your post. Give it some few more games. Hopefully these home stretch will help show more on how the bench will be this season.

regardless of who it is, we just need a impact player off the bench.... who scores like crazy and takes the focus away from the other "roleplayers" like martin, skinner or thomas.... and give them some easy open looks....

This is getting BIG TIME insane!
The bench plays good, but now they did not play "GOOD ENOUGH"
A Player (insert name here) has a bad game "TRADE HIM"
Peja scores 23 in a quarter but he did not help the team win.
Lets bring back every player we ever had, we would be a better team (I am sure jamals cousin ralph would help us out again!)
It cracks me up we are only a few games into the season and we have a whole bunch of fire starters who get flamed up over any little thing.
This reminds me of people who see a one day loss in there stocks and sell everything at a loss than get ticked off the next day because it went up and now they lost even more!
People this is still a brand new team, these guys are feeling each other out still, practice is practice but games are a completely different thing.
Give this team some time, we have a very good team!

The keyword in my original message is "in addition", I want to see him rebound, assists, or steal in addition to scoring like he did last night. I haven't seen him doing two to three things well all at once. So, please pick up the keyword in my message next time. Anyway, you are agreeing with me by saying "yes, he still has a long way to go." I just want you to understand that I am tough on the Kings players because this is my favorite team. I want these player to work hard and keep on improving. I have high standard for them and expect a lot out of them because I want to see a NBA championship (maybe a few :) ) parade in Sactown in my lifetime (sooner the better). For these players to ever reach that championship level they have to be pushing their body to the extreme because they are not born with the talents like MJ, Lebron, Hakim possessed.

I saw the keyword. There's no need for the sarcasm.

I still think you're putting the cart before the horse in your expectations. It's not like you're the only one who wants to see the Kings do well.

I think this is a place we differ. I DO expect a lot from the players on the Kings as well. This has been my favorite team since a I was a kid. However, I also have REALISTIC expectations for them. Martin is AHEAD of where most would expect him to be given the school he came from and minutes played last year. I also beleive that there is a time to be objectively critical of players, games, and decisions. I also feel there is a time for loyality and encouragement. Before the last game, there was very little to be proud of with our team. Last night, they showed glimpses of what could be ahead for us. Personally, I like what I saw. It is just getting tiresome reading all the "trade __________, fire ____________, and this player stinks" threads, so I have just been trying to avoid them. Last game, our bench DID THEIR JOB. I was proud of them.

Then you should probably focus your ire on another player besides Kevin, who IS putting in the time (and extra) and effort to improve. He's got an unbelievable work ethic, hell, he even goes to a gym to practice when he is on 'vacation' visiting family If this team fails to satisfy your need for a Championship, it sure the hell won't be because Kevin didn't work hard enough;)
