[Game] Kings at Wizards 1/11/2011

This is horrible, the Kings dont deserve this win, Tunrovers at the dumbest times and Udrih, BOOOO! in the 4th and OT.

OK, now the Celts. Bricky's favorite Celtic, Luke Harangody, should be on display tomorrow.

This was one of the most poorly coached overtime situations I have seen in like 3 years of NBA basketball. Even the Inept teams of Reggie Theus knew how to execute in OT. This was just a horrible job by Paul Westfall, his staff, and the players he relied upon to win the game. I am not certain what was the stupidest. Beno throwing the game away under the basket, or expecting Cousins to hit a short 3 from the corner. Now I am sure they will say that those were not the plays they drew up, but those were the end of game situations that occurred. You have to play the hand you are dealt. They should have been able to get better looks at the basket out of TWO time outs. Worst time out management I have seen in a LOOONG time. Westphal is working his way out of Sacramento and the slope is getting more and more slippery. I dont think Petrie is gonna have much choice if this kind of play keeps up. Cousins kinda looked disinterested the whole game. Sure he played decent, but he missed a LOT of gimmies around the rim and 10 pts, 8 boards isn't gonna cut it. He didnt dunk any of them with authority. He just wasn't feelin it at all. I would like to think this team would have done better with Tyreke in the game. Pooh and Taylor gave us little at the PG position. This is an ANGRY post from an angry fan, so take it as you will. But the coaching staff has to take their share of the blame in this loss. I think a better coach could have this team playing better basketball. I see fundamental mistakes being made far too often. Next season, with the addition of another draft pick, 2 good free agent players, and a REAL coach, this team could contest for a playoff spot. I think PW is allergic to the playoffs.

I think people are looking for a scapegoat after a tough loss, and putting too much blame on Westy. Yes, he did have an impact on the loss. I see no plausible reason for starting Head. Not one. But I won't blame him for Cousins having an off night, after 6 very good games, JT not having his head in the game, Beno not playing a lick of defense, and Cisco forcing shots at the end.

We had a chance to win, and a few less techs and Cousins converting a few of the many blown layups he had, and we're all having a different discussion. We were killed in the 1st, and gradually kept chipping away until scoring 43 in the 4th. If you're going to hammer Westy for a few poor decisions at the end, are you also going to give him credit for the 43 point 4th, or the 37-16 2nd? Or do players receive the credit while coaches receive the blame?

Tomorrow I expect another tough loss, and our youth to show in the 4th. But this team is playing much better than they were 3-4 weeks ago, and are competing every night.

The first 4 quarters, imo, are neglible because the score was tied. That couldve been because of Westphal, or the Players, but maybe its a combination of both.

However, in OT was where we had the chance to win the game. And was where i thought WP screwed it up.

ed: And i dont mean that in the Kobe sense

I agree 1000% about what you said about the team competeing in the 4fh Qtr. Problem is they dont seem prepaired in the 1st and 3rd Qtrs. And those qtrs are the ones that coaches have the longest time to coach. Sure, they are getting better. But I attribute that more to Cousins emerging as a dominant center MORE than I do PW all of a sudden becoming a better coach. Nothing against Paul, but this team needs to find a coach that can take them to the NEXT level. We've been at the Mediocrity level far too long. And as for scape goats, I did not see anyone else barking out plays comming out of the time out on the 2 most crucial plays of the game. If that isn't evidence enough to say the coaching was lacking last night, then there isnt enough evidence in the world. No Scape Goat, just a bird in the cross hairs. Maloofs wont put up with much more of this...CBA or no CBA.
