The Kings #1 goal this offseason is to obtain players that match up the best against the Lakers 3 best players besides Kobe. The Kings had no answers for Gasol, Bynum or Odom. Therefore, the Kings need to draft Alderich, an athletic player to stop Odom and coach up Hawes in the offseason to stop Gasol. BTW: it sickens me to see the Kings only sell out games are against the Lakers. People don't even go to watch the Kings...fans are such turncoats....more people were cheering for LA than the Kings it seemed. Just my 2 cents.

I think the focus should be on building a young championship level core, but that's just me. I don't understand why you guys are so obsessed with the Lakers.

there are 29 opponents in NBA. Matching up with one of them won't get you anywhere.

as long as you have to adjust your game to the opposition - you are not very good.

Teams that win in this league play their own style and force it upon others.

Well, since the Lakers are clearly the best team and have won 13 out of 15 against the Kings......matching up with them is key in my opinon....that game wasn't even close last night...at least the GSW game was exciting....Kings have no offense....

Let's see...the Lakers are the NBA champs and the GSW suck. You are comparing the two games?

GSW don't suck that bad if they had a chance to beat LA in regulation while the Kings fouled the last 2 minutes....also, didn't the Kings lose to GS by 32 and give up a 18 pt lead in the fourth to them and lose? Go figure....

2.5 months ago we had LA beat in regulation too but couldn't close it out. One game does not determine a team's worth.

Your logic is so infalible.

and wait ... The Warriors beat the Kings by 32 & 7 ... AND the Kings beat the Warriors by 13 & 3. This means that the Warriors are obviously better than the Kings because on average they will beat them by 11.5 points. Clearly the team with a record of 18-48 is the cream of the crop in the NBA because they almost beat the Lakers ... once.

You conveniently seem to forget a double overtime game, and a last second 3 Kobe hit in the Kings last 2 games vs. LA. If you want to live in denial based on a couple games stats, enjoy.

Oh I am going and figuring alright. For instance I go to your post history and what was your introductory post on this board? Starting a thread that the Kings are the worst team in the NBA. Now this as well by your 9th-11th posts. It has me figuring very well.

While this thread is completely laughable and we don't need to match up to just the Lakers specifically, last night made it even more apparent then it already was. We need a full size (not 6'8"), defensive, rebounding, shot blocking big. Our front line got abused.

I don't really see how this post is laughable when the Lakers are the team to beat and that matching up with them should be a goal. I mean, Sasha Vuachic (misspell) made the Kings D look awful. Can't you all see that the lakers and Kobe own us? winning 13/15 games is just inexcusable.

You're kind of giving away your true allegiance, buddy.

I'm really not sure what building to beat one team four times a year accomplishes in the long run. We should be building around Tyreke, not to beat the Lakers. Were it 2002 and we were facing them 11 times a year, then I would most likely be a bit more open to the argument but now in 2010, when we're building for the future, I don't think that should be our goal. By the time we're finally completely done with rebuilding, there's a good chance that the Lakers won't be completely relevant anymore. (Other than Bynum, most of their important pieces will be in their mid-30's and there have been nagging rumors of Phil Jackass retiring for the past several years.)

Meanwhile, we're the fourth youngest team in the NBA (would be younger if we didn't have Noce and Udoka). Tyreke's only 20, Hawes in 21, Omri's 20, Donte's 21, JT's 24, and Carl Landry's the old man of our core at 26.

We're building for the future. Not to beat the Lakers.

I have been a Kings fan for a long time, but realize when a team like the Lakers is clearly better. BTW, your argument for being the 4th youngest team holds no weight when OKC and Portland are young and doing well.

I guess the entire point of my post just flew over your head.

My argument was to stop worrying about the Lakers and just worry about building a winning team.

Well in fairness to the fans, the economy is not the best right now. My daughter and son were both season ticket holders, but neither can afford seasons tickets now. They both go to an occasional game when they can. I think as the economy improves (hopefully soon) and the team improves, the fans will return.

As far as matching up against the Lakers. I see no point in it. By the time the Kings are at the top of their game, the only players of note on the Lakers will be the young ones. Kobe, while always staying in great shape has already logged over a thousand games. Gasol isn't far behind. Ditto Fisher and Odom. So I see no point in developing a team to match up with a team thats not far away from decline with its current roster.

So the first two times we faced them doesn't count. It took a double overtime for them to beat us in one of them. Both games were close and the Kings could have won both of them. You can't base anything on just one game. Whether your judging a team or a player. I watched Timmy Hardaway go 2 for 22 one night for the Warriors. He was 0 for 19 at one point. Does that mean he sucks?

You just went on my ignore list...The word troller springs to mind..

OKC and Portland are the teams we will need to beat when we get to championship form, which optimistically is 3-4 years out.

Assuming of course that everything goes well for all 3 of us.

Or we could just build a fundamentally sound team and address the obvious and glaring weaknesses in the front court and see what happens.

How good did the Thunder do in Durants second year? This is Tyrekes FIRST year. We will get better.

Lets have a poll...

Warriors fan
or
Lakers fan

;).

I'm going with Lakers Fan who realizes that Kobe & crew only have a few more years left, and he wants to Kings to become as much like the current Lakers as possible so he has a bandwagon to jump onto.

I think the initial poster makes a valid point

But you cant create an anti Faker team to defeat them. However you DO need size more than the Kings currently have. The Kings bigs have been marginalized all year. They just are not very good. Hawes is just not very good and JT just isn't very good. Until we have size to match the Faker's size, we can never beat them in a 7 game series anyway. But we need size to match up against all the teams in the league.

Enough of this.

to the OP: if you're a troll, better get more clever. If you're truly a highly confused Kings fan, better concentrate on looking less like a troll. Anymore of this sort of silliness and we probably just error on the safe side.
