KHTK morning show

Listened for 15 mins on the drive into work. Just listened for 5 mins or so on my break. Still waiting for the sports talk and not talk about Roseville mall lacking trees. Besides even if they did start talking sports I don't think I could take more than 15 mins of Brooks whiny *** voice. Face for radio? He's got a voice for writing.

He also said he buys jerseys from other teams that he is not a fan of for fashion reasons. You could hear the disdain pouring from CD. I do not think that was ironic disdain, I think it pained CD.


Don't ask me why I tried listening again. It's unbearable.
 
From what little bit I heard today it seemed like Carmichael Dave was getting more comfortable with the new show and the signal-to-noise level seemed better than the first day when IMO there were far too many soundclips played, people talking over each other, terrible banter etc.

I still don't like Brooks. The 15 minutes I listened to included the Kaepernick discussion and Brooks talking about owning jerseys of players from teams he doesn't root for. Weird conversation. I can't imagine wearing a Matt Ryan jersey (well, I don't wear jerseys at all, but still) and then having to explain to a Falcons fan that approaches you to talk football that you're really a Patriots fan.

No disrespect to CD, but he's not the most analytical/knowledgeable sports commentator and I think he'd be much better if he were paired up with someone who was. He needs a sidekick who plays the straight man, not one who forces him into that role. I'm sure some people like hearing sports talk that is akin to two guys at the bar discussing their favorite teams but personally I want to get some educated and/or inside perspective along with the fun stuff.

I have a humble suggestion to help out in that role, at least for the basketball portions:

Yea that guy next to cm Dave sucks pretty bad. Geronimo was even better with him so hopefully they make some adjustment.

I'd absolutely listen to a CD & Kayte show. I thought she carried Kozimor in terms of knowledge and charisma when they did pregames together.

My only question would be how well she knows sports other than basketball.

Unfortunately, I have to say no to this. The station will try to force that show into the 2 guy 1 girl morning zoo format and Kayte is too interesting and smart for that role. It would tarnish her image. Pretty sure Dave would hate it, too.

Disagree on all fronts. Can you imagine Dave, Geronimo, Kate wrapped up in one show. Do it!

If I remember correctly they were talking about the nude stuff Colin Kaepernick and Vernon Davis are doing in ESPN the magazine and the conversation went on to Athletes you'd like to see naked. Anyway, somewhere along the way Kayte came up (not sure if that's when Kayte came up but at some point she was mentioned) and Dave basically hinted that she had a boob job. (they are friends btw)

I'm trying so hard to like the show as I'm a huge CD fan, but man, Brooks is unbearable. I'm sure you're reading this CD, I'm still a fan, but I hope Brooks doesn't take you down with him. If you two stick together, I hope the show improves, I know it's early, but not many of us like Brooks.

For my taste, a CD, Jason Ross, and Deuce show would be perfect for mornings.....PERFECT! That's Rise Guys esque to me.
 
Wow! I have the same exact feelings before even reading this thread. CD needs better sidekicks. Brooks is turrible, turrible, turrible and brings nothing to the table that I can enjoy. I'd love Jason Ross. I wonder how much we speak for out of all the KHTK listeners? How many people like Brooks, or at minimum, can tolerate him?
 
Show would be much better with Phantom as Dave's sidekick with Joe Ardinger running the board instead of that unfunny hick dude Mike D. The other guy Nate or whatever is ok I think.. kind of reminds me of Sean Thomas sorta.
 
I wouldn't be shocked if the Hick guy was gone this week. I figured these guys would get enough time to bumble into football season when their ratings would bump up and give them 6-10 months. The show is a nightmare and they clearly know it. It's very rare but the station might step in in 2 or 3 weeks. The show has so many problems and Brooks is so bad that giving them till football might really hurt the station and Dave.

Are we sure khtk isn't still pissed at Dave and they brought him back to torture him?
 
I never listened to Carmichael Dave when he had his old show... but man, this show is horrendous. I drive for a living, usually with the radio on, I can't go more than 5 minutes without having a reactionary channel switch. They literally add nothing to nothing. Brooks has no stance on anything related to sports, and Dave just sounds lost on the air. I hope it improves because it is nice to get local sports that don't involve Grant (who noticeably kissed Vivek's rear today, laughing at everything for no reason). Ross might be a nice pairing, but I'm sure the time slot would conflict with Kings game radio coverage (if he's still doing that this year).
 
I feel for Dave because he finally got retribution and got back on the station he loves and they saddle him with an anchor in one of the most obnoxious douchebags of all time (Keith Brooks). Nothing worse than a dude around 40 (with teenage sons no less) that tries to act like a 22 year old "alpha bro". Keith Brooks' act is lame at any age but for a dude that is like 40, his act goes beyond lame to just sad. Dave is trying but when you have to co-host a show with that guy at best you get a tolerable show.

Carmichael Dave is a great radio talent and I used to love listening to his 9 PM show with Sean Thomas. He clearly has great chemistry with Sean Thomas and also had great chemistry with Don Geronimo. Keith Brooks is a dominant type personality that likes to be the focus of the show and almost every conversation. Why KHTK put him with Keith Brooks is puzzling......almost like they want him to fail but I guess we will find out soon enough. I think it's obvious that the vast majority of the listeners on KHTK will prefer Dave to Keith Brooks.......so you'd assume at some point they'll replace Brooks with someone a little milder in personality that allows Dave to be the 'focal point' of the show as he should be. If the show fails I really hope they don't hold it against Dave because absolutely nothing he can do about it......just listening the last few days he's clearly trying his very best and doing best he can.

PS: I'm not sure whether Kayte's breasts are real or not but one thing I do know is they are real nice.
 
This show is not going to last long lol. Wow, it's bad. Keith Brooks' voice sounds like that really fat comedian guy Ralphie May.

Are the Maloofs spending their spare time by picking Dave's cohost and programming the show? This guy is like a bro and less talented monte.
 
The only way Brooks & CD make sense together is if KHTK has decided to try to go for the douchey Rob Arnie & Dawn vibe, they decided Keith is their guy, and they are just riding CD's hot streak to try and pull a little audience to Keith's show. It might not be about CD at all. Actually does not seem like it is CD's show - it seems like they are asking CD to play sidekick to Douche Brooks.

Weird thing is... when I stumble across Geronimo's show in the afternoon, it is almost a relief to hear his style as compared to Brooks. The difference between a pro (at that genre, which isn't my cup of tea) and a wannabe.

I don't think Dave should endure this much longer even if it means DAVE quits. Keith is that bad.

The bit at the end of the show, where the red cards are handed out... THAT is a pretty decent bit actually. But dayum that radio show is bad really bad. Boot Keith, let Dave pick a new sidekick, and it might be worth switching back from 1320. Right now it is just an epic whiff for the station.
 
FWIW, those flat-brimmed baseball caps look absolutely stupid. And I'm not even going to comment his on-air stuff or rest of his wardrobe. Just an observation.

Indeed they do. What looks even more stupid is buying hats which don't fit and go halfway down your ears.


As to the show, it's terrible. I disagree with Dave on basketball issues but from a professional standpoint I highly question why he's doing this. Did KHTK say, here's the deal, here's your partner, take it or leave it? Or did Dave actually have some say in all of this, because if he did that's quite a failure, thinking this douche as a partner would be a good idea. Whomever hired Brooks should lose his job. With all the poor decisions KHTK has made however, I doubt that happens.

I tuned in for a couple minutes this morning. Two callers both asking when Keith was getting fired. CD had to pretend to like Keith and that he wanted him there. It's awful.

Dave has known Keith Brooks forever. I don't think he's pretending unfortunately.
