KG enjoying the Summer already....

Got this from one of the Spurs board, though it was funny.

KG's gone fishing (apparently that's really him).

It's just bad karma on him. You don't say 'Happy Mothers day MotherF***** !' to someone who has lost his mother in his teen  (Spurs fans know this VERY well, so every chance of mocking him will be taken gladly ;))

You know, if he's so good, why has his team missed the playoffs two years in a row? You can't tell me that roster is worse than the LA Kobes. KG is a jerk who nobody likes playing with.

Kobe is the type of player who can take over games and score unconsciously.

KG could be a champion if he was matched up with a scorer like that. He's a different type of player than Kobe is. He's huge small forward who can dunk, block shots, rebound, and hit the mid range j.

The TWolve's talent level may be around the same as the Lakers (Not really, Lakers are more talented in every starter position except for pf) but the Lakers have something very very different - Phil Jackson. To tell the truth, I don't even know who's coaching the Wolves this year. That's how insignificant their coach is.

You need more than a star player to be a successful team.

Oh, and I haven't heard many reports of significant players who don't like playing with him. Sprewell and Cassell both wanted to come back and play with him but management wouldn't spend the cash.

KG is amazing... people love to play with him... the reason he has missed the playoffs is because he had no supportign cast... kobe had odem, who is a very solid player. KG had no such player. And KG is a big man, and cant take over a game like a shooter can. U give him 1 perimiter player who needs to be adressed... and KG becomes MVP again becase he wont be playing 5 on 1.... and king kong, how come u still sign your name peja? just wondering...

I don't know that him being a jerk (which he is) is the main reason for his missing PO's two years in a row while in his prime, but I agree with you in principle.

In fact, just the other day I was thinking about a thread to discuss All Time Superstars that have/had everything in terms of talent and ability but you still hate/dislike them. AI and KG would be at or near the top for me. That's probably one for the TDOS, though.

There's two ways to see this:

1) No excuses. KG is a franchise player and he shouldn't miss the playoffs. If he's so good then why isn't his team in the playoffs? It's his job to carry this team wherever they go and he should be accountable for their lack of success. Bird, Magic, Jordan, Isiah, Malone etc. never missed the playoffs during their prime. He fills up stats sheets and thats it. He gets off way too easy. Kobe misses the playoffs and he's ripped for his selfishness, Garnett misses em and he's given a "get out of jail free" card.

2) The reason why Kobe is ripped and not KG is because he takes way more shots. His supporting cast is horrible. Take any team in the league and substract their single best player and the Wolves are arguably the worst. Jaric and Ricky Davis are terrible 2nd and 3rd options. They have huge holes to fill at every single position but Garnett's. In order for them to win ball games, Garnett has to literally do everything to even give em a chance to be in the game, playing the 1-spot through the 5. The Timberwolves organization has failed miserably at putting quality talent around him. The only year they did so, he brought em to the WCF.

I personally believe that it's a combination of both. although I do tend to lean more towards number 2

I've heard he's a likeable teammate. I remember reading that he was broken up years ago because the team traded Dean Garrett. That's admirable (albeit excessive?) loyalty.

The punishment for the Joe Smith deal and Spreewell's/Cassell's issues last season are more the reason for the Wolves' woes than K.G. (Some would say McHale is a problem too, and a Matt Millen-esque G.M.) It seems to be getting to him lately, though.

What about the rookie he punched in the mouth cause he scored on him during 1 on 1 practice? I am sure he'd find KG real likeable.

Overblown.

One incident. Not a particularly admirable one, but one incident with one guy who if I recall the story correctly was being a punk.
