Predicting when the team will make the playoffs is like shooting in the dark and hoping you hit something. With competent ownership, it would be easier, but with the Maloofs at the helm, and not knowing their real intentions, its extremely difficult. I went with the 2013/14 season. Its as good a guess as any. All things being equal, they should improve individually this season and hopefully come together as a team. That would give them the offseason to fill any holes they have and make a run for the playoffs the following season.

However, betting on the outcome of anything with the Kings is like taking a walk in fantasy land. Thats what happens when you have the Madd Hatter running the orginization.

It's clear that this won't happen as long as the Maloofs are owners of this franchise.

When the Kings do reach the playoffs, it's not a matter of when (of which is at least 2-3 years out if the Maloofs and Petrie are replaced by more competent owners/management) - but where.

Hoping for a miracle via the NBA Board of Governors in that regard...

The window of opportunity is 2013-2014. If the team hasn't made serious progress by the end of that season, Cousins will look for greener pastures, and we'll be entering permanent rebuild mode.

I'll add on to that and say that if Tyreke doesn't improve significantly this year we're not going to have a shot for a good few years to come. Let's just say this year Tyreke doesn't improve enough for him to command a big salary. Regardless of his jumpshot he's still one of our biggest offensive weapons, and with all the players improving together we end up with one of the later picks in the lottery. We however, don't go on to re-sign him, and essentially have not that much better of a team heading into 2013-2014, where I don't think we'll make the playoffs without a second star to pair with Cousins.
