Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Prediction Poll #12.

There are too many variables when it comes to Boogie's numbers, which is one of the reasons that the first time through I opted to ask whether he would be an All Star instead. This time I think I'll try to offer up options via a multiple answer poll.

So on the following three criteria, and considering team, age, role etc., what do you think Cousins' numbers will look like this year: Points, Rebounds, FG%.

I put him down for 24+. If the second half of last season was a bar by which to measure his scoring i think hell be able to do it. I chose 11-12 rpg also

Cuz will get his I have no worries about that. How he gets them is the question...will they be empty stats or will they be conclusive to some wins. let's hope...

I think 19 and 12 and an All Star game appearance. Selected as a reserve by the coaches naturally.

I was thinking the same exact thing. 12 boards sounds about right, and as far as points I would've gone a little higher, 20-21, but not with Reke/IT/MT/Brooks. Just too many perimeter chuckers. I don't think he'll get that many more shot attempts this year, but will convert a higher %, become more comfortable running the offense on the block or elbow, and bump his assists up to near 3 per game.

Amazing btw, that we have the best up and coming center in the league, and the FO thinks the best way to surround him with complementary talent is undersized, shoot first chuckers, in three of the four guards. Unbelievable. I mean, it really is.

22/12 47%ish.

Dude starting beasting post allstar. And if he gets more minutes (assuming he continues to get smarter with fouls), his stats will naturally go up. T-Rob might hurt the rebounds, but we know Boogie...He's going to get a lot of O-boards cleaning up after his own slop, which will keep the fg% sub 50%.

He's going to turn heads though, guy just keeps getting nastier and nastier.

I'm going for 21 Pts, 12 boards, and hopefully something close to 50% shooting. A big man in the post should be putting up over 50% from the field. I cut him a little slack since he takes a good share of jumpers. But he has to get more efficient overall.. And I'm sure he will..

I think they think that's better than big guards who can't throw a pea in the ocean and can't pass the ball to Cousins in the post. It could be worse...

Cousins' stats for last year: 11 rebs, 18.1 ppg, .448 FG%, 1.6 apg, 2.66 TOs per game.

If his ppg remained at 18.1 I'd be satisfied as long as he'd improve his field goal percentage to get to 48% or above. He's got to get his field goal percentage higher. If he gets 22 points a game with only 45% efficiency, that's not going to cut it. He's got some tough competition to get rebs with the addition of Johnson to Thompson at the pf position and so I'm not banking on him breaking into the 12 reb per game territory. I'd really like him to turn around his assists and TOs. Instead of 1.6/2.66 he needs to have 2.66/1.6 for his assist to TO ratio. Overall, Cousins need to improve his efficiency more than anything else.

If he can't shoot over 50% and keeps taking shots the Kings won't win that many games.

Yes because Boogie plays so much like Garnett and Nowitzki . Duncan career average is over 50%. Thanks for reinforcing my point for me.

Since you love stats so much maybe you could tell me what the kings winning percentage is when Boogie shoots 50% or better.

You apparently missed the title of his list AND the point altogether.

10-17 .370

Which is of course beside the point that you overreached, as usual when it comes to Cousins, and I called you on it. The greatest offensive bigs of the last decade only shot .500 or better in 11 of 37 combined seasons as #1 options (and yes Cousins' game resembles a PFs) and still made the playoffs every year. This very team was led by a 48% or so shooting PF as we won 60+ gms and challenged for the title a decade ago. Of the dozen 20+pt scorers in the NBA last year only 3 shot 50%+. None of those was on the eventual champion.

But of course Cousins is different...somehow. Now if HE doesn't shoot 50%+, well, wow, its over man.

47%, 48% and Cousins is beginnnng to hang with some very good company . Anything more and he's got a stake in the race to be called best offensive big in the game.

He doesn't have to shoot 50% but he can't be shooting 42% either. It's pathetic for a big man with his kind of talent. I'll still give him a couple years but we may just have to realize that Cousins isn't a 20ppg scorer. Damn near anyone can put up 20ppg with enough shots but it's pointless if your efficiency is in the tank. We may have to realize one day that Cousins is better served as a 14pt 10reb guy who shoots 48% instead of a 20pt guy who shoots with the same efficiency as a backup defensive PG.

Boogie has Garnett's mid-range game, Duncan's rebounding, and Nowitzki's ability to flop convincingly. That's pretty good for a 23 year old. If he can pick up some of Al Jefferson's post-game, it will be unfair what he does to the league.

He's actually just gone 22.

As for Npliam stating sarcastically that Cuz plays like KG and Dirk, how about comparing those two exact players? They're pretty much polar opposites for bigs, which would suggest that your game doesn't have to be a perfect match for either of them for Cousins to be successful shooting just under 50%.

The jealousy is incredible. It could be worse Npliam, you guys could have taken Johnson over Cousins, instead of Favors, who still should be a good player. Just not on Cousins level. Which is fine BTW, not many big guys will be.
