Kevin put on 14 lbs of muscle?

From Henry Abbott:

Even when there are celebrities here, it's no big fuss. When today's early game, between the Kings and the Wizards, began there was hardly anyone watching, other than a big crowd from a local Boys and Girls Club, and ... Ron Artest and his family sitting courtside. A little bit later Kevin Martin joined him. Martin sat exactly where he could give his aspiring teammates support as they headed to the "locker room" at halftime. (Martin, by the way, says that he's perfecting the art of the off-season. First it was a couple weeks' rest. Then it has been intense shooting, weights, and drills, but not too much five on five which can be hard on your body. Martin says has put on 14 pounds of muscle since the end of the season.)

Francisco Garcia looks pretty great. He has been a vocal leader, playing his heart out for the Sacramento team. Even though he's already someone who has played regular minutes in the NBA, he's killing himself here. He was knocked down hard to the floor, by my count, at least six times in today's game. Afterwards I asked him what he was doing on the floor so much. His answer: "That's my game!" Awesome.

Might want to be careful about adding too much bulk. Remember what happened with Bibby? Although, Mike was alot bigger when he added all that muscle. It should help him play defense. He was getting abused on the block.

Tomorrow if he is there I'll go ask him where he put it on and see if he'll pose for us all!! :D

He actually DOES look a little thicker...like his head fits his body now.

He had already added those arms last year so...maybe his chest? Maybe he has a really really buff right calf? ;)

click it. his arms look bigger there.

it's not just his arms, either. you can see it in his face. he's starting to fill out, which is good. he'll always be a little on the light side, but at least he won't be a stick out there anymore...

14 lbs of muscle on an already athletic body isn't going to make him look like Popeye, people. (Although it'd be awesome to see him open a can of spinach prior to opening a can of whoopass.) I put on 10 lbs of muscle and got smaller (which speaks to my previous out-of-shapedness). Also, the 14 lbs. won't alter his shot any, at least not in a negative fashion. He's currently listed at 185, +14 puts him at 199, give or take a Big Mac. That's still not too bad, and it puts him in a much better position to take hits. \

FWIW Bonzi's bio listed him at 210.

Either way, kudos to Kev for dedicating himself this off-season, unlike other past/current members, whose off-season workout consistent of less Camel/Skoal.

Exactly. I think he bulked up so he can drive the hoop more often. I can't wait to see the new Kev.

If Kevin put on 14 lbs since the end of the season of solid muscle he's using something illegal. I'm really lean as well, and it's impossible to go up that fast. Now if he's about 8 lbs of msucle and 6 pounds of a little fat and water retention and eating more, because he's not in season, then that's doable.

Well, he is hitting that age where it makes it easier to gain weight. I'm sure that in a couple more years he will have a body like LeBron! :P

*runs and hides in the corner*

My guess would be that he's talking about the last two years not just the last two months since the season ended.

You think it's impossible for a professional athlete with access to the best trainers/equipment/supplements/et cetera that money can buy to put on fourteen pounds of muscle in three months without using something illegal? That's interesting...

You say the end of the season as if the Kings stopped playing a couple of weeks ago; the Kings stopped playing before the middle of April.
