Kevin Martin out at least a month?

According to Grant on the post game show on the radio...wow. He said he heard this from people in the kings staff.

Those groin injuries are tough. Take a long time to heal.... wouldn't be surprised if it's longer than a month even.

Ah well, did we really expect anything different? :(

they can't possibly know that right now.

It is an estimate at best
Yup, grant said if he would have to guess that is what he would say so your right about it being an estimate but this sucks either way because we know for sure he will miss significant time.

Devastating... Decimated with your starting back court out for months! I need a double shot... make that a triple shot... of whatever you got bartender... OUCH!!!

is sux that he is hurt especially playing this well.

As for "significant time' - there is no such things for the Kings this season since we aren't playing for anything

I've changed the thread title to reflect that we don't really know anything yet...

Didn't Bonzi Wells have a pulled groin that first moved Kevin into a starting slot?

...sigh...

:(

Damn, hello DERRICK ROSE.

God this sucks though, of all the people to get injured it had to be Kevin? Interrupt his break out season? God this sucks!!!!!!

At least now Mike will have someone to keep him company on the bench...

$$%##^!

Ugh.

Well, it can be a good thing in a way, as the team has the potential to be too reliant on Kevin's good game, as Artest pointed out in an interview some time ago that "Kevin bails us out", thus allowing the others to shoot shots and miss, yet not suffer too much from that.

Well now Mr. Bail-out is out, so the team's gonna HAVE to step it up and intensify the team-aspect of the game, rather than the over-reliance on the one-on-one game--i.e. Garcia, Artest, Salmons--and really step up the assists in the game, big-time.

Looks like John "Sexy" Salmons is going to start in K-Mart's place.

And KT's game tonight. Ugh. Get the guy out of there. Trade him. Send him to the moon. Contract a Sopranos hit on him.

starting back court is hurt - where did we see that before ?:(

It's the curse of the Jazz. Back before Webb crumpled in a heap on the court in Dallas, it was against Utah that the Kings seemed to always get hurt in some fashion or another. In fact, I'd have to check but I believe Webb's other major injury came at the hands of Karl Malone.

just because we have polluted his beautiful planet that we live one -it doesn't give us right to bring down the value of moon

Jerry Sloan and his team are what they are. Harpering vs Pedja, Malone vs Webber, Tag vs Vlade etc... We owned them and they couldn't do a thing about it but hurt us literary. Not much have changed

This was v2.0 though IMO. He made another pretty big leap and showed flashes of #1 option potential. Now this setback... ugh.

the only difference between this season and last season is the absence of Bibby and Artest (8 games) which means that there are 15-20 shots more available to be taken. He still plays no defense whatsoever.

Yeah Bonzi had a torn groin I think. If Kevin's out a month it has to be torn to some degree I would think. Bonzi was out about a month, came back too soon and was out more right? This sucks.

It's going to be 4 to 6 weeks, from what's being said and what I heard.

...sigh...

SIGH!!!

did you delete my post?

Yep. I was in the process of sending you a PM, but I'll answer here. The link was already posted. In addition, if you'll check our Tips for Posting, you'll notice that we're asking people to NOT copy and paste entire segments from the Bee.

Since you did that, AND since the link was posted about four posts ago, I deleted it.

:)

Just when things looked like they might start to look up a little.
I really hope that the injury isn't as bad as they say it is.

Expect the worst, hope for the best

And the Sports Illustrated curse continues... Apparently with a minor modification. At this point, merely being named in an article title has been enough to summon forth the evil forces.

Blech!

SIGH!!!

Seems like I am one of the few ones who doesn't see it as a complete disaster.

Let me start off with a disclaimer. It is always sad to see a player go down with an injury. Kevin was one of the few excitements of the season, and his loss is going to hurt.

The major concern of course is, if this injury lingers. Hope Kevin recovers fully from it, before stepping back on the court.

That said, given our current state, it is not going to make a difference in our playoff aspirations. Taking a cynical view, it might help us by getting a better draft pick. In fact, if we continue to be as bad on the forthcoming road trip, as we have been on the road so far this season, management might take its head out of the sand, and try to hasten the rebuild process.

On the plus side, this might open things up for Salmons, Cisco and QD. Just like Kevin stepped up when Bonzi went down, hopefully one of these guys shall take this opportunity and run.

As Brick pointed out in the grade thread, Artest has been playing great. If at the end of the year, he opts out, and we do sign him up, we shall have too many wing players. A good run by any of our guys shall increase their trade value, which can help get some future front court help.
