Kevin for Devin Harris

All-Star
should we move martin?

Hypothetical question if NJ was to recieve the 1st pick in the draft would you trade K-mart for Harris straight up?

I like the idea. It depends on how things stand come draft time. Harris's stock has fallen significantly since his Dallas days. He's shooting 35% on the Nets. He's obviously a quality player, but no one is going to mistake him for being a catalyst for wins like they might have a couple years ago- now he's a solid starter for a good team. If he keeps shooting poorly and the Nets continue to suck, he's not gonna be worth much.

The other side to this is how good Martin is looking at the end of the year. A lot hinges on how well this team plays when he comes back.

So, I like this for the simple reason that Harris/Evans could be one of the best backcourts in the league. On paper, they are better than Martin for the simple reason that Harris takes half the shots that Martin does.

I don't like this trade because if Martin goes I want to see something better than Harris in return. Preferably a big.

Any trade that does NOT involve getting a big to help out Hawes and Thompson sets us back.

why do we keep trying to get pg's we have 3 now and only 2 bigs. Why O why would we want a 4th pg?

This. Sorry, Harris is a great player no question about it. But personally we have a good amount of offense on our bench in PG form that can play well with Reke as a SG... The most important part about matching someone with REke right now is keeping our size mis-match (which KMart will give when he comes back and it's why Greene is currently starting).

Like a majority here I feel if KMart is going out, we need a great Big Man coming back in and preferably with some solid defense

And he's smaller. He's a worse fit than Kevin in most ways.

its like flipping the evans/martin back court.... harris is cool but our offense would look like a bunch of chickens with their heads chopped off running around on the court with harris and evans on the court.

wow, stop with the trade Kmart.....lets see him play with Reke for atleast 20 games...
Let see him play with Tyreke for atleast the rest of the year. Martin and Evans have the potential to be LETHAL! Throw a shot blocker into the mix and we'll be REALLY tough to compete with.

Plays defense and can help create ala the Beno/Sergio pair. I want a full size running mate for reke, but Harris definitely brings useful things to the table that Kevin does not, and vice versa.

Seems to me that Kevin for Harris is a lateral move. The things that Kevin brings to the table (off the ball scoring) Devin does not, and the things that Devin brings to the table (defense, passing) Kevin does not. I wouldn't be opposed to the trade, but I wouldn't be thrilled either. We need a star big, and we should trade anybody besides Reke to get that player. The actual nuts and bolts of such a transaction are far harder to predict, however.

I know it doesn't seem likely, but we should also wait before acquiring another 1, because John Wall is going to be available, and we might win the lottery. Granted, we will have a 1-2% chance, but as far as i know, their lottery system is fair. and NJ wants cap for this offseason, so no go and that trade until next july. It would be extremely lucrative to somehow get another lottery pick just in case.

Kevin finally has some guys who want to play, don't you think he deserves a chance to win here in Sac. Dude was the only bright spot for what?.. 3 years, come on. Lets see what Reke and Kev can do. We have some decent trading pieces in Noc, Beno and K9. Lets hope these guys are shopped before Kevin.

Okay how about K-mart/Kenny thomas for T-mac. T-mac is expiring and then the Kings will have some real flexablity this coming summer.

The rockets dont have a solid 2 guard and k-mart could be a nice addition playing along side Ariza.

Kings roster next year

1.Tyreke/Beno/Sergio
2.Fransico/Donte/
3.Nocioni/casspi
4.Jason/Draft pick/Brockman
5.Bosh/Hawes

Much as I think that Kevin has the potential to mess up a good thing here, I simply don't understand the Kevin for an ender line of thinking. Our biggest and best trade asset, and people occasionally advocate just dumping it?

We have an opportunity here, with a big move of some sort, to truly make this team legit again. This isn't tear down time any longer, this is build up time.

I don't get trading him at all. sure we are doing ok now. But what happens when Beno resorts to the Beno of last year? Yeah the same Beno we all wanted gone and considered the weakest link on the team. Now all of a sudden ppl want Kevin gone and that guy in our starting backcourt instead of Kevin? It don't make sense. Now is good time to trade Beno and get something of value back not Kevin. How much better is Beno than Kevin on defense? really?

Not to mention we haven't seen the Kevin Tyreke backcourt pairing but the first 5 games of Tyreke's career with May and Mason starting with them. Lets not jump on the trade wagon just yet and see what happens. I think we will all be pleased.

With kevin taking 25 shots a game we will never be winners. He gets injured now all of a sudden we are winners (more than with him) Tyreke is the player to build around kevin is in the way

Ok you are wrong on both your points. #1 Kevin has never averaged over 16 shot attempts per game. In fact the last 2 years were his most at 15 and 15.9 both years in which the coach put all the scoring load in his hands. He averaged 14 shots a game with Bibby, Artest, and Miller on the team. Bibby and Artest still averaged over 15 attempts themselves. So that tells you its possible for for Tyreke, Martin, Thompson to all get over 15 attempts per game. Reke is averaging 16 now and Thompson 11. Kevin isn't going to attempt 25 a game on average especially now he sees that he has a player beside him with ability.

#2 we are 2 games under .500. We are hardly winners right now.

Kevin isn't going to take anything away from Thmpson, Tyreke. He will however affect the playing time of Noc, Donte, Beno, Sergio, Casspi. Now if you get rid of one of those then it evens out a bit. Once Garcia gets back it will again affect one of the remaining players.

I for one would like a Noc + Beno trade for a big but with the size and length of those contracts i don't see it happening.

The only way I trade Kevin is for a starting big man. Chris Bosh is optimal but he is an ending contract that might not resign and I don't want to trade Kevin for a 4 month rental. Then the rest that aren't enders aren't getting traded. I would love to have Lamarcus Aldridge but its not happning.

Take out JT and Harris and it's a package worth building around.

I'd love to move Kmart/Hawes for Lopez/Simmons (ender), but I'm still working on the compromising photos of Kiki Vandeweghe. Anybody have a good telephoto lens? :p

Its unbelievable isn't it.

With Kevin and KT we have 2 pretty big trading chips of different kinds (one a good player on decent contract and the other as a $9 million expiring contract) and people want to trade those for expirings and Brandan Bass!

Forget about getting cap room our best bet of landing a star to pair with Tyreke is via trade. I would imagine that Kevin and KT and possibly a draft pick could get us a bigger impact player than we could sign in free agency.

Where do we find one of those digruntled star bigs that want out of their team?! Bosh maybe? Boozer?!
