I do not think it is our players that are the problem but the configuration of the players. Most teams have people that specialize in certain roles that make the team better. We have a bunch of carbon copies when our current starting team is on the floor. What I mean by that is other than Bonzi we have 4 slow defenders that are great at 10 to 15 ft shots. Martin for Peja adds speed to the starting lineup and a shooter to the bench.
I think we have seen what speed and athleticism can do, so I suggest like others on this post that we mix in some athleticism with out current starters, and some shooting with our bench.
Bibby, Martin, Bonzi, Miller, Thomas would be a good quick team. We would have a lot of speed and two slashers to the basket for miller or Bibby to feed. I would take SAR out of the starting line up because I view him as a go-to guy and a floor leader, and we already have that in Bibby so I see SAR talents wasted with two floor leaders on the floor. For those who do not agree that SAR is a floor leader just watch him when he is out there without Bibby and Miller, he becomes the go to guy and someone the rest of the team can trust.
Peja needs screens to score points and who better than Skinner to give him those. You will still have Garcia off the bench as a slasher for SAR to pass to.
I like the zone we have ran the last two games and I think what makes it different now is that Garcia and Martin are fast and disrupt the passing lane. I think a zone defense with Bonzi and Martin and the Garcia and Hart/Price would work as well.
With the starting team of Bibby, Martin, Miller, Bonzi, and Thomas and a bench of SAR, Price, Skinner, Peja, and Garcia would give you speed on both teams, some scorers, and some defense with the zone. With this line up I like 28 minutes and 20 so that it becomes not about starting and minutes but about who plays best together and where can their strengths be used.
