Wolves owner hinting at possible Olowokandi trade

Apparently the real reason the Timberwolves have not been playing Michael Olowokandi is that the center, in his last year of his contract, could be traded very soon. Wolves owner Glen Taylor strongly hinted at that after Friday night's victory over Denver at Target Center.
"Call me in 72 hours and I will have some news for you," said Taylor, sounding like the deal had been made and will be announced soon.
However, Taylor said the Wolves don't have any interest in suspended Orlando point guard Steve Francis, who is making too much money.
As for Indiana's Ron Artest, Taylor said: "I don't know of anything that's new on Ron Artest. They haven't talked to us, so I assume there is nothing that's going to happen."
Taylor said he is disappointed with the Wolves' .500 record.
"I'm the same as the team and the coach, that we're disappointed with the wins that we have," he said. "I think at this point in the process that we just thought that we would be further on our plan. It appears more in the area of scoring. We're just having trouble finding guys who can score. So that's what we're working on."
With Utah being a big surprise, it is not going to be easy for the Wolves to win the Northwest Division with their current personnel.

Hard to see why the Wolves would do that unless it be for somebody on out team who could really help them. Not just for one of the matching salary Philly trio types. For one of our main guys? Sure. But then that's something we reall don't want to do in all liklihood.

I wouldn't mind getting Kandi if he decides to pull his head out of his ***. But since that's not happening anytime soon. Thank, but no thanks.

edit: apparently my head was in my *** when I wrote this post.

Oh, if we got him, it would just be a 3 month rental to shed soem salary. Extremely doubtful he would ever end up in Sacto long term.

Well, the word is that it may have something to do with Mark Blount. If thats true I can see them taking Kenny off our hands.

Olowokandi is a bum to the Benoit Benjamin degree.

The only reason we would go after him is if we are secretly trying to obtain every player who was drafted in the first round of the 1998 draft (Olowokandi was picked #1 by the Clippers). We are off to a good start:

2. Mike Bibby - Grizzlies
7. Jason Williams - Kings
11. Bonzi Wells - Pistons
13. Keon Clark - Magic
22. Brian Skinner - Clippers

How/why?

Hey I would love if it happened (I guess), but how would Blount being involved change things? Boston certanly wouldn't want to switch Blount's deadly contract for Thomas's, and the Wolves wouldn't need us to pull off a Blount/Kandiman switch. Who would end up with Thomas and a smile in that case?

Just saying IF, they are indeed considering a deal for Mark Blount, then they must not be all that against aquiring a bad contract in return for a servicable player.

Not saying we would get involved just that if I was Petrie and this kind of deal were true, I would consider calling Minny and offering them Kenny Thomas.
