Justin Williams - with summer league team!

Nicholson too? Wow. I wanted him as well! Amundson is kinda intriguing, but I don't think he'll make the team.

Would be surprised if we took on Gansey because of the 3-4 guards we already on the roster... he'll get on somwhere though, underrated, good player.

I know that we worked out both Yemi and Amundson. So that has something to do with it, possibly they were planning to get them if they didn't get drafted...

Well, maybe not the FT stuff, but that really is a minor thing for a defense/rebounding specialist. Look at Big Ben.

Turnovers might mean bad hands unfortunately. But again, not a disastrous problem for a guy who is not a huge cog in the offense (although note Dampier's stone hands effectively finishing the Mavs in the Finals).

They didn't call Scot Pollard "Hands of Stone" for his boxing prowess. OK, *I* called him that, but the point is that a guy doesn't need good hands or offensive skill to be successful in the NBA.

Wow! I have been wanting us to get a 2nd rounder and draft the guy. This is even better! We get him w/o using a draft pick.

WOOHOO!

And this is my 777th post (since the boards got reset) How lucky is this.

I will say it now..... The man will make our team.

Williams had 5 or more blocked shots in 19 OF THE 30 GAMES Wyoming played in this year, including 11 vs. BYU and 12 vs. Utah! Holy crap! What a great acquisition!

Wait....we got Justin Williams AND Nicholson? Wow, those were the exact two guys I listed in another thread as the guys I wanted us to invite to summer league. Both are small school guys that dominated their lower level of competition that are naturally strong in the areas we need help, shot blocking and rebounding. Both of them also need to add some bulk, but now we get to see what both of them can do and sign whichever one shows the most promise. Heck with our lack of depth we could even sign both if they both show promise.

This is a very encouraging sign, makes up for the disappointment of all the good bigs, even the raw ones like Saer Sene, getting taken early in the draft (as usual).

Taj Gray now too... wowzers. :)

One or two of these guys making the team won't be the only move for getting interior d... can't wait for the dealings ahead. ;)

His athleticism, length, and quickness make up for his 6'9" height.

Maybe. That's one of the things we will have to see in the NBA. The hope would be that he can be like a Theo Ratliff maybe. But blocking small school 6'6" PFs isn't quite the same thing as blocking Tim Duncan. In any case, glad he's at least coming to summer league so we can be the ones to find out rather than some other squad.

From the above article: Among others not drafted, the Nuggets invited to camp University of Denver center Yemi Nicholson and Nevada-Las Vegas forward Louis Amundson, who played with Monarch High School in Louisville. Both will join the Kings, who offered guaranteed money. "The Nuggets had a chance to draft me (at No. 49), and they didn't," Amundson said. Amundson and Nicholson were disappointed at being undrafted. "I still have an opportunity," Nicholson said. "I had a good workout (with the Kings)."

Wow, guaranteed money? That doesn't mean they will make the team, but that must be how the Kings are getting these guys (Gray/Williamson too?) to play with them in Vegas, instead of some other team?

I don't care if he blocks Duncan, sure it would happen, but I'd rather he block that pesky little bastard who kept killing us inside. ;)

Whoa, guaranteed! They mean business in trying to find a diamond in the ruff.

I;m guessing/assuming that must just be some sort of appearance payment? Certainly we could not have dropped guaranteed deals on all these guys for next year or we'd already have a full 15man roster withotu ever having seen them play.

14 - double doubles (2 of them were one block away from being triple doubles)

1 - triple double (blocks, points. rebounds)

6 - 15+ rebound games

12 - 6+ block games

If this guy can make the team and impress than we have filled a major need w/o using a draft pick.

I've only heard guaranteed money for Gray/Amundson/Nicholson... didn't say that about Williams or Benson.

I assume it's a partially guarnateed contract, like Sampson and Price's were. Either that, or it is a guaranteed contract, and it's for motivation. :)

Not like Price's, for sure. GP dropped a 2 year contract on Price, cuz he was very high on Ronnie. Maybe we will begin to see why this coming season?

I think its just a short-term guarantee of money. Apparently, you don't necessarily get any money for playing on the summer league team. The benfit is usually just getting a chance to showcase yourself and get picked up by somebody. I do think the Kings have done this before with someone who did not make the team.

Yemi is also more of a C than Justin. I read that Justin had a bad pre-draft but I also read that he had 14 blocks over 3 games! Including an 8 block game! He was knocked probably because he doesn't have refined offensive skill. SO WHAT!!! 14 blocks over 3 games at pre-draft camp suits me just fine.

Yeah, like I said... he likely won't have much more offense than he does now. So what? He won't be out there for his damn offensive skills. :)

If DX is correct I absolutely like the group of big men on Kings' SL roster:
Taj Gray - nice skillset and motor, but too emotional - often disappears if makes a mistake or two in the beginning of the game,
Yemi Nicholson - he came to college on music scholarship (saxophone if I'm not mistaken), interesting big, one scout made a comment "he runs like 15 year vet" though. He can be a great cheerleader with his music talents. :D
Justin Williams - I think everybody already knows about him
Christian Maraker - got exposure in the first round of the NCAA Tourney (actually his only interesting match-up this season :) ) where he outplayed Craig Smith defending him very well (there's a difference of 30 or more pounds between them).
Louis Amundson - well, he's not that far from Kenny Thomas.

i really don't know why some people are complaining about him being undersized sure he's 6'9 but his huge wingspan and good athletecism will allow him to play bigger, and im hoping he would be another of petries "diamond in a rough" finds

http://nbadraft.net/2006campmeasurements001.asp

listed at 6'8.75 with shoes but his wingspan is 7'1.5 and whats more impressive is his standing reach at 9'1
