Dime Dropper
All-Star
So it's really looking like none of the big guys will sip to us at 10. Players such as Yi, B. Wright have too much upside to slip that far. It's safe enough to say that Conley and Brewer will also be gone. I really don't want Hawes (even if he's the only big left, we need athleticism) with the 10th.
Many people say we're high on Julian Wright which is a good thing IMO. Wright is not a sure thing, but he has tons of upside and alot of potential and I think this shows that Petrie is willing to risk if he really does like him as much as people say.
IMO, Wright is a SF. He's not a tweener (unless you consider him a PF), he has perfect size and skills to play the SF in the pros. People say he's slow? I really, really can't see any slowness in him. Although I've only seen highlights of him and not full games, I just can't see the slowness. His athleticism, paired with his wingspan, is well above average. It's very good. I don't care what the combine says, Durant will still be a perennial all-star and Julian Wright will still be throwing down dunks and using his athleticism. Some people need a longer run up to get a max vert, and some jump better off one foot than two (eg. me, I'm 5'11 and I can dunk off a run up, but can't touch the rim off a three-step two footed jump). This seems to be the case with Julian. He is an excellent passer with very good vision. He has some excellent spin moves to create space to get a shot off and he is a good defender with the potential to be a great one. Look at this video to see everything I've been saying about him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9tSSJldfQs
I would be happy if we took him at 10th, he could be insurance for Ron Ron if we trade him (possibly for another pick), and he will be BPA. The only way I will be disappointed if we draft Julian is if someone like B. Wright or Yi slips and we don't take them.
