JT trade or re-sign?

Just wanted to get a feel for everyone's thoughts on JT. As we all know skilled big's command top dollar and I would like to get a feel for my fellow KF's opinions on this.

JT is just about as good a 3rd big as a team can hope for. He is a 4 that can play a bit of 5 and is a solid spot starter. Good role player. Rebounds, brings energy and hustle.

He is not a starter on a very good team but he is a VERY good 3rd big coming off the bench. The big that does a little bit of everything but nothing at an elite level. I would re-sign him. Always thought he is a good role player to have around and he is a hard worker and good locker room guy. I would keep but I would also look for that starting PF/C that complements Cousins and JT well.

Try to trade, if not resign 24/4 max or depending on draft selection if we get 6+ draft Robinson and let JT walk.

Even if we draft Robinson, you still need four good bigs on your team. One has nothing to do with the other. I'm not opposed to trading him, if its the right deal, but other than that, you resign him, unless he asks for ridiculous money. Thompson has value, either to the team as a player, or as a trading piece. The last thing I do is just let him walk.

his offense has looked so bad lately. I dont get it though because at the beginning of the season he looked pretty good. I really dont know what I'd do. im torn

Agree with this.

Best thing about him being a backup big is we don't need to rely on his offense. also he gets most of his poiknts off of putbacks and hustle plays so i dont think we need to worry that much about him.

It all depends what we get for a trade.

Let's say something like JT+Garcia/Salmons for Granger. Without blinking I'd pull this trade.
If it's something like JT+package for overweight Boris Diaw, I'd better just resign JT.

What I wonder is what happened to JT's a) Ft shooting and b) his 18 ft jumpshot that we saw a lot of in his first two seasons. Think they would be useful skills to utilise with the current team.

I think part of JT's problem is that his minutes are being pinched due to smallball.
When given consistent minutes, he gets in a pretty good rhythm, and he's been able to help us close out games with rebounds, and it seemed for a while that he would always come up with a crucial dunk from a nice setup in under 2 minutes of every game. I say keep him - given consistent minutes he's a double double.

Resign JT. He is one of the most consistent player in terms of giving his best effort every game. He has nowhere to go but up. He hasn't reached his full potential which at best might be a Dennis Rodman or even maybe a Lamarcus Aldridge. He is going to get it in the near future.

He's close to the analogue of Garcia. He's a bench guy. Good character. Good work ethic. Poor BB IQ. Mediocre, both defensively and offensively. Leaving aside the "objective" comments, on a subjective level I can't stand watching him play. He's got the "ugliest game" of anybody in the NBA. He is absolutely spasmodic on offense. I'd like to trade him for somebody of value.

While I agree he has not reached his full potential but you might have went to far with the comparisons to "the worm" and Aldridge. Rodman is in a elite class of rebounders and Aldridge is in the top 15-20 players in the NBA talent wise. The reason I bring up JT is because I feel he is going to command starter $ because of his numbers this year, I think GP may be showcasing JT this year but its just a hunch.
