Josh Smith?

I would much rather keep JT than DWill.
JT is an actual solid nba player.... he's our bargaining chip. I'd rather keep him too as he's perfect for us as a 4/5 first off the bench big. The problem is we're stuck with Landry too who also fits better off the bench. One of them has got to go.

Josh smith really makes sense for us as it combines a few needs. Smith can play defense. He is a good shot blocker. And he can stretch the floor. I know I know his 3pt% isn't all that great but, you can't leave him alone out there. PDA mentioned a shot blocker or a stretch four at before draft. Probably good reason we are so hard after smith. He is both

No that's the last thing you want Josh Smith doing his shot is worse than Derrick Williams, but the rest of it I agree with, I rather use Smith for alley hoops plays/ cuts to the rim and using Cousins insane natural instincts to hook him up, just put away the jumper J-Smoove and make it better for everyone involved. Honestly all Josh Smith has to do be a EXCELLENT player is use his athletic ability and pass the ball he can put up 12-16 points on garbage baskets alone and transiation while at the same time being a great team guy/stat stuffer kind of like a AK47 in Utah (minus the high IQ).

Since they rejected our initial offer, I would give them Landry and an expiring. LOL. IF they're that desperate to get rid of him before the season starts, then they make take that deal. At least they'll get about 5-6 million in cap savings for next season.

BTW, what's going on with Monroe?

If I were Denver I would be making a package for Monroe, I'm sure a lot of teams could use him, maybe the Pistons have decided they are going to make Drummond the next Dwight and therefore don't need Monroe.

Maybe they're not that desperate to dump him and this is just another journalist throwing a "story" out there.

If they were really that desperate they'd have ripped our hands off for the supposed offer.

I tend to agree but it could also be SVG sussing out the market for Smith, finding out there is none and hoping to improve his currency by getting him to play well to start the season then trade him at the deadline.

Think about it, what does SVG have to lose. He can either trade J Smoove now and get nothing for him, or he can trade him for the same at the trade deadline. In the mean time, try and get him up and running and playing well to hopefully increase his trade currency.

I think they are open to trading him but I don't think they are that desperate to do so.

No I'm not saying I want him out there jacking threes. Just saying he would get more attention than any PF we have from the perimeter.

Ok yeah I agree, but I'm saying I would prefer if he completely eliminated shooting from his game unless it's a shot he has to take (e.g low shot clock).

Well until the Monroe situation is resolved you just wont see Stan giving PDA a call for any deal
Monroe has said before he doesnt want Josh on his team, but the fact Detroit might even considering a sign and trade for Monroe, Detroit wont be trading Josh at this point.

Maybe trading Josh end up as part of negotiations to get Monroe to sign long term? If Monroe takes the one yr deal to be free agent next year Detroit might keep Josh for next year

Well if the rumor is to be believed, Greg Monroe doesn't want to play alongside Smith again. So what SVG has to lose is possibly Monroe.

Remember the junk offense JVG ran down in Orlando. A tweener chucker like Smith is just the sort of character to warm the cockles of his chubby little heart. So its not impossible management might like to cut ties, but Ron Jeremy may not and may be looking forward to years and years of Smoove chucking threes from the corners rather than a future with Greg Monroe.

SVG is both coach and head of basketball ops. He is the management there.

So let's trade for Monroe. Smith can stay with Detroit and become the 3 point attempt NBA champion and everybody would be happy.

There's about a 0% chance of us trading for Monroe. We just don't have the pieces. Josh Smith is about the best we can hope for at this point.

I don't know what fansided is, but articles like that are full of don't bet on it tells:

No matter what the Detroit Pistons say publicly, new head coach and president Stan Van Gundy would probably love to get out of the contract of forward Josh Smith.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes there’s “at least a decent chance” the Kings and Pistons once again talk about a trade for Smith.

You start seeing qualifiers like that and it begins to sound like they are really just doing the same thing we are here: trying to logically speculate.

Whether it's this or that is neither here nor there. I feel that somehow if I keep mentioning this particular trade that I'm contributing to increasing the likelihood that it happens.

I have found fansided to be very "iffy" when it comes to the stories. They are putting qualifier on everything they publish and it all sounds like a bunch of draft rumors picked from some fan board and written as a semi official article to make it sound more legit.

So on Hoopshype.com "sources" say Greg Monroe is OK with 1 yr 5.3 Mil Qual Offer to be Free Agent next year

I guess both Monroe and Bledsoe could go right down to the wire (October 1) while they see Who Blinks First?

So it could be a while before SVG would even consider a Josh Smith trade, if he traded Josh he could loose 2 Big men by end of the year

Unless SVG says he will trade Josh to help getting Monroe to Sign up long term

If the Kings really want to acquire Josh Smith, that's the avenue that would make it happen.

Sacramento is likely one of the few teams that would be willing to trade for Smith and his contract so if it comes down to losing Monroe or dealing JSmoove for spare parts then I could see a deal going down for some combination of JT/Landry and the ending contract of either Terry or Williams.

If SVG allows Monroe to become an unrestricted FA then he's a moron. Hes going to end up with Drummond/Smith instead of Drummond/Monroe. I dont think SVG is a moron which leads me to think that there's a very real chance that Smith will wear a Kings uniform next season. 60/40?
