right. they thought paying carlos extra 500k is better than lopez. gotta love the defense vision they got going on
That's the one move that had me scratching my head. He's much better than JT.

Detroit Pistons president and coach Stan Van Gundy reached out to forward Josh Smith to tell him that reports of the franchise engaging in substantive trade talks with Sacramento centered on Smith have been inaccurate and – barring an unexpected turn of events – Smith will be in training camp with the Pistons this fall, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
i wish they would hurry up and do something , been talking about this for 2 monthsGobbledygook and rigamarole:

Indeed. Since the new ownership has taken over we've been the most aggressive franchise in the league. Its a matter of time until one of these deals goes through for us. I agree that it looks like we've just loaded up on pieces so that we're prepared once something sticks. Got to love it.The links are new, but the info looks to be some real old retread stuff.
I concur with Brick's opinion from another thread - we sure look to be lining up a lot of deals and then not actually carrying them out. Casspi is the one that sticks out, but there's a bunch of smoke around Terrence Williams as well. It almost looks as if we're confident that a deal will go down (maybe we need to wait for the Kevin Love domino to fall?) but it sure seems like we're expecting some sort of action, at which point we'll then swoop in and sign Casspi and perhaps T-Will.
Crossing my fingers.I think the 2016 second round pick from the Act/outlaw trader maybe used to sweeten the deal for josh smith. I think the josh smith trade will go down after Kevin love is traded.
its possible, whether the target ends up as Smith or somebody else. We notoriously don't have access to our first round picks for use in trade because of that lingering Casspi/Hickson mess. We've been slinging 2nds around like party favors in the last year, and its hard to see what else could have been a realistic target of that trade with NY.I think the 2016 second round pick from the Act/outlaw trader maybe used to sweeten the deal for josh smith. If I were Indiana I would try move David West now he's bound to slow down over the next couple seasons and he's still got good value to get something back.its possible, whether the target ends up as Smith or somebody else. Wondering where Indiana's heads are right now as well in wake of the George disaster.

And if I were the Kings and the Pacers called and offered David West, I would laugh them out of the building.
I never thought I'd find myself in the position of defending andremiller07, but they appeared to refer to the idea of Indiana trading West in general, not necessarily to the Kings, no?

Agreed.
He is a more overpaid and slightly larger and better rebounding version of Carl Landry.
UNLESS, the Pacers take back our smaller, less over paid version of David West, Carl Landry in the trade. We would shave a year off our contract to Landry and Keep JT as an ideal third big behind DMC. Plus we would have a huge $12 million ending contract next year, to help expedite the rebuild.
David West is a lethal offensive weapon. I've always felt that he is the Pacers go-to guy. He's capable of averaging 20-10.David West/Millsap are the ultimate version of the mold (offensively efficient slightly undersized rebounding pf with midrange). Carl Landry is a poor mans version of those two and, I would argue, more overpaid than those two. West and Millsap are starters on playoff teams. Landry is not. Add in the fact that West is the heart and soul of the Pacers, and you have a guy that is the ultimate vet. That's worth a lot. He hustles, he bangs, he tries, he keeps guys accountable while still being likable and respected. He spaces the floor, he plays good man defense.

as for Josh Smith, still don't see it happening, he would have to be an unspeakable locker room poison for Detroit to move him for what we're offering. No reason why he can't bounce back playing at PF for Detroit.
Stoked how that worked out for both teams. Wolves got a monster haul for Love which is great... hate to see a franchise go the route of Oralando when they lost Dwight. Cleveland will be unbelievably entertaining to watch this year. When you look at what the Wolves managed to acquire for Kevin Love it's amusing now we thought Ben Mac and the 8 would be enough.
I really like the deal for both teams.

I'd still be interested in acquiring Smith but not a a price of Derrick Williams, especially that we have now shipped our ever reliable SF back-up in named Travis.
If I'm PDA, I'd call Detroit one last time. JT + Terry + the NY 2nd rd pick for Smith.
JT gives them an insurance if Monroe turns sour after all the wait.
And Terry gives them a chance for a buyout to entice Monroe for a bigger paycheck.

I would much rather keep JT than Derrick Williams.
I would much rather keep JT than DWill.Salary Cap. Williams is on an ender, JT has 3 years left. JT or Landry or Both have to go to bring back Smith unless we want to be a cap crippled team for 3 years with 3 high usage, highly paid talents that are good enough to maybe squeak you into the playoffs.
