Jones: Cousins says 'pace' is no excuse

In a blog today, Jason Jones quoted DMC as saying it's more about effort than pace:

“At the end of the day, it’s about coming out and competing,” Cousins said. “Just come out and compete at a high level. Man up and compete and play team basketball. We do that, a lot of these situations we wouldn’t even have. Just come out and compete.”

easier said than done when your team has stopped buying into that philosophy completely. the only teams that make excuses are bad teams so chalk it up!

That article is saying nothing new.

Jason Jones threw out a bunch of statistics about pre-firing vs post offense vs defense, and then attached some typical Demarcus quotes to it.

Nothing new, including Demarcus' quotes. He knows he has regularly played crappy defense lately, yet he says “It has nothing to do with the way we defend,” Cousins said. “It should not change a guy’s effort. It should change how a guy comes in and competes. It’s an excuse.”
