Any questions?

And yes, I know the final score. I cannot, however, ignore the impact Jon Brockman had tonight...

I think The Brockness Monster would look great starting at center. Bring in Hawes to play agianst the other teams 2nd unit. That way he can gain some confidence and work his way through his issues. Also gives him some more time to bulk up. Can you imagine Brockman being Hawes's HEIGHT ??:D

What do we have to lose? Spencer is getting burned by just about every center he faces. We need to start our best 5. I hate to say this, but I think Brockman would be a better center than Hawes. Brockman plays bigger than he is and Hawes plays smaller than he is. WHO gets more rebounds? Who plays better post defense? Who is the scrapper/fighter we need under the rim? I say start him a few games and see how he does...

Spencer shops in the petite section, Brockman shops in big n tall section

WOW!! :D That sums it up right there! Spencer is Petite!! Until he hits the weights, he will NEVER be a real NBA center. Brockman on the other hand looks like he never leaves the gym!

Brockman is a great energy guy off the bench. He is NOT a starter. I love the guy and what he brings to the table. Thik of shorter Pollard.

I just wish Brockman was 5 inches taller, he would chew up and spit out a lot of league's bigman.

Go Big Jon:D I have been wondering just how tall Charles Barkley is, I think 6' 5" maybe:)

Jon played great tonight in the 2nd half. Jon had 4 fouls and got his moneys worth on every one. I think if he started he would foul out of most games. He is a perfect change of pace defender/rebounder.

does he come in couple sizes bigger ?

Jon Brockmans size is actually a big part of what makes him valuable. He's compact which in terms of physics simply means he'll pack in the strength because whatever upper body strength he exerts has a shorter distance to travel along the muscle fibers. Same goes for his lower body. He has a lower center of gravity and very dense musculature. Major advantage in the strength department. Count in the fact that he's pretty darn athletic and you're a ok!

Geoff's draft day 2009 has to rank as one of the all time greatest for any team that didn't draft a MJ, Kobe or Lebron.

Of course, with Reke maybe we did.. !

the first time i think he actually made us of a second round pick...

remember the year before? he had 2 2nd rounders P. ewing jr. and mr. Sean singletary .. both waived...

Well, we haven't had the greatest track record with second round picks in the recent past, but Petrie actually grabbed quite a few useful second round picks between 1994 and 1998:

Lawrence Funderburke - 4726 minutes played, career
Michael Smith - 10552 MP
Tyus Edney - 4743 MP
Anthony Johnson - 15467 MP, active
Jerome James - 4771 MP

In 2000, Jabari Smith was marginally useful, getting 1063 minutes over four seasons. Since then, only Sean Singletary (303) and Brockman (286) have broken 250 minutes in the NBA, but in total there were only six picks over that stretch, and 5 of them were in the 40s or 50s where talent really starts to thin out.

I like this assessment. Height means little compared to production and energy. I was at the game last night. Suns were the more mature team, but whoa... the Kings really brought the energy and passion, especially in the second half. Brockman was a big part of that.

When i saw DeJuan Blair keep dropping I was mad that we had traded our pick.

Now that I can see the impact that Brockman has on games, I have NO questions! :D

he is also 3rd in the league in rebounds per 48minutes with 17.6 just behind Dwight Howard and Kevin Love and just ahead of Noah.

not really sure why he cant be a starter, Dennis Rodman was only an inch taller. Brockman is having a similar rookie to rodman (both average 4+rebs) in limited minutes (rodman 15min per gm/Brockman 11min per gm). In rodmans career as his minutes increased, so did his rebounds(12-18per game with starter minutes). The skill was always there, he just needed the minutes. Also both players have/had no offensive game other then the putback.

Heres a question if Brockman were to recieve starter minutes (30-40) would he have a similar career to Rodman? (maybe top out at 14reb per game instead of 18 :p)

I think it's possible. He may be short on paper, but if he can shut down amare like he did last night and get all those crazy rebounds, than he's doing what a 7 footer should be doing, and doing it better than most.

I agree. It's very possible and I think right now with Hawes being so soft it really worth to try. It'd also be useful to put a little pressure and competence for PT on Hawes.

The only issue I can see with his minutes and role is that he's also got to be the most foul prone player per minute in the league too! I kind of like the idea that we can bring Brockman off the bench and just let him go full on with no real regrets. Clearly he provides things this team needs more than our starting front court combined but coming off the bench helps everyone IMO. He just needs to get ALL the backup minutes, no more Kenny Thomas. He's played well this year but he has no future here.

the man is a BEAST.... and coach westphal has so much high praises to brockman.

mr. brockman expect a big fat raise from the maloofs this summer
