Johnny Flynn or Raymond Felton

Block Party

G-League
Would you be interested in acquiring either of these guys? A true point guard is what this team needs. Beno would be excellent coming off of the bench. Just a thought. We have only a few more hours until the trade deadline expires!

I don't think we will be making any more deals unless we get one of those offers from teams that want to get under the luxury tax.

For example a player with expiring contract and cahs considerations that pay off the rest of his contract for a heavily protected future 2nd round pick or a young player for a pick like OKC did with Utah for Maynor a couple of years ago.

I don't think there would be any big deals taking place any time soon.

Actually, I expect this will happen. Right now we are under the minimum salary, and need to get over that in order to share in the luxury tax disbursement. My call - Jared Jeffries. Gets Houston under the luxury tax threshold. We could probably even score a pick for taking him, though a first-rounder would seem unlikely.

Edit: I can't find any evidence of the luxury tax disbursement thing in the CBA FAQ, so it may well not be true. That would throw the argument out the window.

Well Denver is acting like they want to keep Felton, but Karl said Ty Lawson would be the starting PG. Whoever ends up the backup may want out, and I'd be interested in either Lawson or Felton.

Pass on both. If we can't get Irving in this years draft we can see what else is out there or attempt to get another 1st round pick or a 2nd rounder and draft a PG.

Utah is another team that would like to get under the luxury tax. Right now their about 6.5 mil over the threshold. The problem is, the only single player they could move that would solve that problem is Kirilenko, and he makes 17 mil a year. Unless we actually wanted Kirilenko, I doubt we'd be interested in taking on that much salary, even though its an expiring contract. The only other way would be to take on several smaller salarys like C.J. Miles who makes close to 4 mil a year.

It looks like Felton might not be happy in Denver:

Felton wants to start, but Lawson is the vet and knows the system in Denver. One of them might have to go. I can see us dealing Greene or Casspi for either of those guys (and maybe a pick and/or cash)

Billups
Dragic
Brooks
Felton
Flynn
Hinrich

All PGs traded or rumored to be traded that the Kings had no action on. The biggest most glaring need on the team and there's a firesale on PGs. Kings sit on their ***, get a chucker and Marquis Daniels' corpse.

Brooks was traded for Dragic and a pick. The Kings can't equal that?

Two things:

1) its possible just possible that the Kings may not share your roster analysis. Some quality players, but few of those guys are clear big upgrades from Beno at this stage.

2) if you missed it, the story broke last ngiht that we tried to put together a package to get Deron Williams, which I am sure you wil admit is a little better than those guys on your list. Just came up short.

Then our guards would be:
Evans (injured)
Jeter
Head
Taylor
Thornton

Oy vey. Can we bring back Oriene Greene?

yep. we would accomplish 2 things, guarantee we'd get a top pick and clear off another 17m in salary to chase some players we like after AK47 expires this summer. i think we could go after 2 max salary players if we wanted to with that kind of caproom.

are we patching the holes just to patch the holes because the material is there?

The only one that interests me there is Dragic, but mostly because of his size and ability to score. I haven't seen enough of him to comment on his defense.

1. It is very possible the management is unaware of how big of a hole the position is, considering their lack of addressing the need for the past like five years. I would say Felton and Brooks are upgrades over Beno. The others are iffy or just potential upgrades. The Kings have been rumored to be interested in Brooks for awhile, so considering the eventual trade pieces given for him its weird the Kings couldn't outbid that.
2. Yeah, the rumor was Cousins and that makes no sense team makeup wise. DMC benefits most from a PG acquisition. Tyreke struggles without the ball, which is the issue with any PG, but one who is clearly ahead of Reke means he becomes a second guy and that is an even bigger adjustment for a guy like him.
